00:00 How do you think Republicans can justify blasting Bidenomics
00:04 when what they're saying about his policies
00:07 is objectively false?
00:08 -People need to stop paying attention to the polls
00:11 and start paying attention to what Joe Biden is actually doing.
00:14 And the numbers don't lie.
00:15 Republicans do.
00:17 -The numbers don't lie?
00:18 What?
00:19 What is she looking at?
00:21 What polls are they talking about?
00:22 A new CBS poll for one.
00:24 Most respondents describing the economy as uncertain,
00:27 along with calling it bad and struggling.
00:30 Only 34% approve of Joe Biden, the job he's doing on the economy.
00:35 And when asked what comes to mind
00:37 when voters think of Bidenomics,
00:39 half of respondents said inflation, smart Americans.
00:43 49% said higher taxes, smart Americans.
00:47 Well, only 32% said job creation.
00:50 No comment.
00:51 Joining me now, Senator J.D. Vance.
00:53 Senator Vance, well, look, they are gonna spend a lot of time
00:55 and a lot of money selling Bidenomics.
00:58 My point on Friday night is a point I'm gonna state again
01:01 for those who missed it.
01:02 If Republicans get caught in the culture wars
01:06 and leave the economic lane to Biden,
01:10 anything's possible.
01:12 Do you not agree?
01:14 -That's exactly right, Laura.
01:16 Most Americans are voting their pocketbook.
01:17 And, look, Bidenomics is a failure,
01:20 and we need to simply point that out
01:21 and make our case to the American people
01:23 that we can make their lives better.
01:25 I mean, look, to the average Ohioan,
01:26 Bidenomics is higher food prices,
01:29 it's higher gas prices.
01:31 It's the fact that if your children can't afford a home
01:33 these days because interest rates are so high
01:36 and all of the homes are going to Chinese investors
01:38 and illegal aliens who are coming in and taking them.
01:42 Bidenomics is the immiseration of the American middle class.
01:45 It's the average American family has $500
01:48 or fewer in the bank account
01:49 and is worried about taking a vacation.
01:52 What Bidenomics is doing is taking American citizens
01:56 and turning them into permanent renters in their own country,
01:58 people who can't afford a home,
02:00 people who can't afford a slice of their own nation.
02:02 That is not a record of achievement,
02:04 but Republicans cannot forget it and cannot ignore that reality.
02:09 Most Americans right now feel very precarious
02:12 in their economic lives.
02:13 They have every right to,
02:14 and they have every right to expect the government
02:16 that puts their interests first.
02:18 That's the argument Republicans have to make.
02:20 And if we do, Laura, I think we're gonna win a landslide 2024
02:23 and get a chance to actually govern this country.
02:25 - Now, Trump is way ahead of everybody in the field.
02:29 I mean, it's just stunning.
02:31 I mean, at every demographic group he's leading.
02:33 DeSantis went to New Hampshire today,
02:35 I think to try to reset away from the cultural issues.
02:38 He didn't listen to what we were trying to say earlier,
02:40 but set away from that and go back to the economy.
02:43 I know you've endorsed President Trump,
02:46 but at this point, do you agree that a discussion
02:49 about slavery and school curricula
02:52 versus how much is gas gonna be in 2025?
02:55 There's no contest there, what people want to hear.
02:59 - Yeah, look, Laura, obviously the cultural stuff matters.
03:03 The life issue matters.
03:04 Defending American values matters.
03:06 And you and I agree on that.
03:09 We also have to recognize that most Americans
03:11 are voting their pocketbooks and rightfully so.
03:14 If you think of the entire Trump campaign,
03:16 he's still talking about issues
03:18 that most conventional Republicans are terrified of,
03:21 including, by the way, his competitors
03:23 in the Republican primary field.
03:24 He's talking about trade.
03:26 He's talking about the fact that immigration steals wages
03:29 from working and middle-class Americans,
03:30 that if we have 10 million, 15 million illegal aliens
03:34 coming in and taking homes from the average American citizen,
03:37 then the next generation isn't gonna be able
03:39 to afford to buy a home.
03:40 That is what people care about.
03:42 And it is still, honestly, it's an insult
03:45 and a terrible verdict on the Republican Party
03:48 that Donald Trump is still one of the few people
03:51 in our movement who's still talking about these issues.
03:53 The rest of the movement, - Working class.
03:55 - The rest of the party really has to catch up here.
03:57 - Well, speaking of, this is right near Wheelhouse, Senator.
04:01 News came out this afternoon, Bloomberg reporting
04:04 that a political action committee
04:06 with close ties to billionaire Charles Koch
04:09 has raised now $78 million in the first half of 2023
04:13 with pretty much the sole purpose of preventing
04:16 President Trump from becoming the Republican nominee.
04:20 It's Americans for Prosperity PAC or something like that.
04:24 Your reaction to that development?
04:26 - Well, we have to remember what that money wants.
04:30 And what that money wants is two things, Laura.
04:32 It wants wide open borders,
04:34 and it wants to continue to ship our industrial base,
04:36 all of our good jobs and our manufacturing
04:39 to China and the rest of East Asia.
04:41 They hate Donald Trump because they hate the agenda
04:44 and they hate the fact that working class Americans
04:47 are finally starting to fight back.
04:49 We cannot ignore what's at stake in this election.
04:52 This is the main reason, Laura,
04:53 I would say the folks should support
04:55 Donald Trump for president.
04:56 Because if Trump loses either the primary
04:59 or the general election,
05:01 all of the old school establishment Republicans
05:03 will try to take us back to the losing agenda
05:06 that led to the immiseration,
05:08 the end in many ways,
05:09 of the traditional American middle class.
05:12 If Trump can win,
05:13 and if he can pull out a governing agenda
05:15 over the next four years,
05:17 what we have a chance to do
05:18 is to reset the Republican Party.
05:20 It's not shocking the old guard
05:22 is putting hundreds of millions of dollars
05:23 against Donald Trump.
05:24 The question is, what do we do?
05:26 And we have to fight for it.
05:28 - Yeah, well, DeSantis' message
05:30 is very similar to Trump's.
05:31 And if you listen to him in New Hampshire today,
05:33 it was get rid of most favored nation status for China.
05:37 And there are a lot of good things there,
05:39 but I mean, Trump is just destroying the field right now.
05:43 Fascinating, but Koch brothers,
05:44 or Charles Koch is very worried.
05:46 Senator, great to see you.
