09:33 - Absolutely. Angus, talk to me a little bit about the show. Obviously,
09:37 covering so many pressures of what teens go through in everyday real life. You've got social
09:42 media, these unrealistic beauty standards, addiction, mental health. Why is it such a
09:47 timely show? Why do you think now's the time? One, that it came on the scene, and two,
09:53 why it resonated so quickly and so deeply for so many of us?
09:56 - Well, I mean, we're in a day and age of where it's like some people, literally all they know
10:05 is social media. And then I was one of the kids, you know, I was born in '98, so I didn't know
10:14 social media until I became like probably like whatever, 16 or whatever, you know what I'm
10:20 saying? So I'm like in between those two worlds, you know, but some people are like, it's so
10:27 foreign to them and the rest that's like, that is their life. So like, it's interesting for the
10:34 people that's foreign to them, it's like, what? This is how it is now, you know? And the people
10:43 that can relate to it, you know? But yeah, a lot of topics are very timely, you know,
10:50 it's definitely going to survive in the film and world, like as a piece of the times, you know,
10:58 because it's so relevant right now, you know, with addiction and...
11:03 - At this point, it is certainly a major issue and it's something that we're seeing in headlines
11:08 often now, even in Hollywood, right? We're reporting on these overdoses and these deaths,
11:13 and the show really does tackle addiction in a really honest and transparent way,
11:18 and in a way that's important so that we can start having these conversations.
11:21 I want Eric and Austin, if you could just jump in on that, when we think about all of the topics
11:27 that "Euphoria" touches on, everything is so open to interpretation based on the viewer,
11:31 based on who's watching it. What do each of you specifically hope that audiences are taking away,
11:37 just based on your personal connection to these stories and to what "Euphoria" is trying to
11:43 express? Eric, we can kick things off with you.
11:45 - I think an understanding that these characters and their behaviors and the mistakes they made,
11:51 there's always moments for redemption. I think that's one of the overall themes this season.
11:56 Austin, what do you have to add to that?
11:57 - Yeah, I mean, I'm just thinking, I just, when you asked that question, I just thought about
12:03 my character, like, in relation to like Barbie, Cat, and I feel like seeing how they're,
12:15 you know, when they actually come together, like what their relationship is actually like,
12:18 and hopefully people can relate to that and like see themselves in our relationship and maybe
12:27 learn something or maybe see something from a different perspective.
12:32 - Yeah, yeah, absolutely. So true and well said. Jacob, the world has fallen in love with
12:38 Zendaya's role in "Euphoria." Obviously, Rue is this fascinating, very multi-dimensional character.
12:44 What does that magic feel like on set when you guys are all working with her?
12:47 - I mean, she's such a talented actress. It's like, it's out of this world. And then this season,
12:53 it's like, again, you sit back and you watch it and you're like, you know, that's someone who
12:58 does their work and knows their craft. And I've said it before, and I'll quote it directly,
13:02 she literally, she captains the, she, shush, dog!
13:06 - Hi, dog.
13:07 - She captains the ship, like, you know, she steers it down the straight. She's incredible.
13:12 - Yeah.
13:13 - Yeah, it's really an honor to work with her and it makes the work so much easier, you know?
13:20 - Yeah.
13:21 - Because she's doing the acting. I just really just got to sit there and react, you know?
13:28 - Mm-hmm.
13:28 - So I'm like blessed, you know?
13:31 - Absolutely.
13:33 - Yeah, you know, it's the back and forth. You need that energy, you know? And she always
13:39 brings that positive and ready to work, hustle mindset, you know?
13:45 - Yeah, she gives it, and that's why she got the Emmy. It was well earned, well earned.
13:49 Before I let you guys go, I want to really quickly pivot, Jacob,
13:53 back to the kissing booth, a little retrospection. You stole our hearts in the kissing booth.
13:58 And I'm just curious to know, what was that like, that overnight success that came with it?
14:04 And really just sort of turning into a heartthrob overnight.
14:07 How most did your life change because of that?
14:10 - I don't know, Jacob. We want to know.
14:12 - No, but seriously, like, you know, I get to sit here now with these actors and talk to you.
14:18 - Mm-hmm.
14:18 - And I wouldn't be here making movies and TV if I didn't make those movies. So I'm just so
14:24 (beep) grateful, you know what I mean?
14:25 - Yeah, no, absolutely. And the gratitude is key. I'd read somewhere that you'd said
14:30 that initially when you were, you know, kind of pounding the pavement in Hollywood,
14:34 your height was a deterrent. Is that true? Did you feel like you had to play down certain
14:38 aspects of yourself to book roles in the beginning of your career?
14:41 - Yeah, I was a pretty nervous kid. Yeah, everything worries me.
14:47 - Really quickly before I let you guys go, Euphoria is all about, you know, love for one
14:53 another. And then most importantly, if you ask me, self-love. So I'm curious to know,
14:57 anyone who wants to take this, do any of you have a self-love resolution or a love resolution
15:02 for the new year? And I mean that in the most general way.
15:05 - I don't make resolutions. I think every day is something new.
15:10 - Yeah.
15:11 - You know, but it starts with yourself. You have to love yourself before you can
15:20 love anything else, truly.
15:22 - Absolutely.
