00:00 What's been the biggest thing for you,
00:02 what's been the healthy adjustment to all of their guys?
00:05 The first couple days, me being like,
00:07 just getting back from what I was going through,
00:10 then practicing the spring,
00:12 just coming out there and being comfortable with myself
00:15 and taking care of my body.
00:16 And then with the newcomers, just embracing everybody in,
00:19 making them feel like they're at home,
00:21 even though they're here from different places
00:23 and we all be in the same position.
00:25 And for just the team, it's just been great
00:27 just coming out there competing every day,
00:29 knowing that it got good and it's got good.
00:31 So if I slack and get my position up for grabs,
00:36 I got to come in every day and go hard.
00:38 Do you feel healthy all the way?
00:39 I feel 100% healthy.
00:41 Jarvis was just talking about how you've kind of made strides
00:44 since last year through spring into now.
00:46 What's been the difference,
00:47 what's pushed you to make such strides?
00:50 I think back on JB, like Jarvis, he's a physical guy,
00:54 so I take some of his game and put it to mine.
00:56 Like last year, I wasn't so violent in breaking up the ball,
01:00 my punch attack.
01:01 But this year, I said, "I'm going to play more physical,
01:04 play more big.
01:05 I'm a big corner."
01:07 So I just watch him and how he go towards the ball,
01:10 how he make contact.
01:12 I got a fiend for that more.
01:13 So I think that helps me take strides in my game.
01:16 I already got ball skills, and I need to add the second part to it.
01:20 Do you guys feel more comfortable now that you've had the spring
01:23 and summer to kind of get acclimated to this new defense?
01:27 Yes, ma'am.
01:28 And then the coaches make it more easier because they take more time with us.
01:31 Like they talk to us.
01:33 If we don't understand something, all we got to do is ask questions.
01:35 There's no shame, no questions.
01:36 So they make us feel more comfortable knowing that we mess up.
01:39 We can contact them.
01:40 Just watch your film.
01:41 They big on that.
01:42 Just go watch your film on your own.
01:44 You don't always got to be with the coaches.
01:45 So just being around them, making us more comfortable,
01:49 they help us understand.
01:50 They play both a little bit better.
01:52 Quincy Jarvis was saying he thinks this can be one of the best secondaries
01:56 in the ACC, maybe even in the country.
01:58 What do you like about this group to give you all that confidence?
02:01 The big thing I like about this group is really no starting group.
02:05 Like if we go too deep, our two is really another starting group for everybody
02:10 just feeding off each other.
02:11 It's hard to play as a player on defense when you got receivers running deep
02:16 ball and then slugging back in.
02:18 So if you got a two group, that just makes you feel more comfortable
02:21 going out there knowing there's no drop off when the second group get in.
02:25 But everybody is like it's two groups at start.
02:27 How much does this 425 scheme not only play into your strengths,
02:30 but everyone's strength in that secondary?
02:32 It's just more so they give us tools and equipment and positions to go get the
02:39 ball, like more turnovers.
02:41 It's not always just hard-nosed, pressed man.
02:44 We got a lot of players that are going to put us in position to make turnovers
02:49 and win games.
02:51 What is Coach Ellis like back there?
02:53 What have you learned about him in the spring and now in the summer
02:58 and the fall camp?
02:59 He loves the game.
03:00 He's passionate about it.
03:01 He made me come in wanting to come play football every day.
03:05 I know he going to get on us, but then he going to throw a joke in there
03:08 and make us laugh.
03:09 He know everybody mess up, so he understand that we human.
03:13 We going to mess up.
03:14 So when he be hard on us, even the young guys that be hard,
03:18 then he come in with a joke.
03:20 When you make a play, he going to be your best friend.
03:22 But then when you back, he going to be a coach, so you got to embrace it
03:26 and just go with it, knowing that he love us all and he want us to do great.
03:30 He don't hate on us.
03:31 Jarvis talked about the iron sharpens iron with going against Jamari.
03:36 But the receivers as a whole, what's that like with you guys
03:40 and going against them?
03:41 How much do you feel like they make you guys better?
03:43 We got a lot of great receivers.
03:44 Jamari, Jayden, Jamari, Zero, like it's going to get annoying.
03:50 Every time you line up, you're going against competition.
03:53 So if we going against them, we going to go against them.
03:55 When it's time for game time, it's going to be like we going against them
03:58 and practice, and they going to make plays,
04:00 we going to make plays, and our scholarship is just like we is.
04:02 So it just makes us better, knowing we got to be on that game 24/7
04:06 and we can't slip up.
