It's been a rocky summer at Sheffield Wednesday for many reasons but the new season is imminent and The Star Owls podcast is back with Chris Holt joined by Joe Crann and Alex Miller to look back briefly over that rough period but peer somewhat optimisically towards the new campaign

00:00 The kick-off comes tomorrow night as we record. We're not going to concentrate too much on the
00:05 match against Southampton specifically but at this stage just generally around the season.
00:10 What are your thoughts, Joe, going in now? If there are no further signings to be made,
00:18 or to take into account the goalkeepers almost a given, are you happy? Are you content with
00:26 what's there? What were your thoughts? I'm not going to ask you to give me a particular position
00:33 but are we talking a relegation fight? Is it mid-table, I'm not going to say mediocrity either
00:39 because it's probably quite a success if they finish mid-table or are ambitions higher than that?
00:45 I think given the unknowns still unknown to us, I would take 18th, 17th, 18th at the minute because
00:56 we don't know how the bulk of these new players are going to do because a lot of them have not
01:02 even played in English football at all, let alone in a championship. I would just quite like an
01:09 event-less season. After the last few years of covering Wednesday, it would be nice to have a
01:17 season where you get to the last six weeks and there's nothing to play for. I know that's probably
01:22 a miserable way of thinking at it but I'd much rather that than being a relegation scrap.
01:26 I like the point I drew, that that is absolutely disastrous for BHV.
01:32 I would say I'm relatively content with the work they've done but again I'm very wary of the fact
01:43 that I haven't seen a lot of them play in this environment. How many times in the past have we
01:51 heard about players not being able to live up to the atmosphere at Hillsborough, the expectation
01:58 at Wednesday? We don't really know how any of them are going to perform really but I do still
02:05 think there will be more players through the door as well. I don't think Wednesday are anywhere
02:09 near done. I think there's probably still quite a few coming through. I'm still expecting a couple
02:16 of Premier League loans to be on the horizon as well at some point towards the end of the window.
02:20 So I think for where we are currently I am pretty content but that's in the knowledge that there is
02:27 more coming. I would take a very comfortable mid-table finish and be very happy about it.
