00:00 Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is sharing his thoughts about the Hollywood writers
00:05 and actor strikes.
00:06 The CEO discussed the strikes during his studio's second-quarter financial analyst call on Thursday,
00:12 saying, "We're in the business of storytelling, and we cannot do that without the entirety
00:16 of the creative community, the great creative community, without the writers, directors,
00:21 editors, producers, actors, the whole below-the-line crew."
00:25 The ongoing writers and actors strikes have cut into the long-term strategic focus of
00:29 Warner Bros. Discovery and other major Hollywood players.
00:32 "We're hopeful that all sides will get back to negotiating and that these strikes get
00:36 resolved in a way that the writers and actors feel they are fairly compensated and their
00:41 efforts and contributions are fully valued."
00:44 He added, "This is our business.
00:45 This is all we do.
00:46 We're in uncharted waters in terms of the world as it is today and measuring it all.
00:51 And so in good faith, we've all got to fight to get this resolved."
00:55 Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Weidenfels said the dual Hollywood strikes
00:59 would inevitably impact the timing and performance of future Warner Bros. Discovery content,
01:05 but added the studio had saved more than $100 million in operating costs due to the dual
01:10 strikes in the second quarter.
