00:00 Zendaya is remembering her close friend Angus Cloud, who died at age 25.
00:06 On Tuesday, the Euphoria star penned a heartfelt message to her co-star on Instagram looking
00:11 back on their friendship, writing, quote, "Words are not enough to describe the infinite
00:15 beauty that is Angus Conner.
00:17 I'm so grateful I got the chance to know him in this life, to call him a brother, to
00:21 see his warm, kind eyes and bright smile, or hear his infectious cackle of a laugh.
00:27 I'm smiling now just thinking of it.
00:29 I know people use this expression often when talking about folks they love.
00:33 They light up any room they enter, but boy, let me tell you, he was the best at it.
00:38 I'd like to remember him that way.
00:40 For all the boundless light, love and joy he always managed to give us, I'll cherish
00:44 every moment," adding, "My heart is with his mother and family at this time and please
00:49 be kind and patient as grief looks different for everyone."
00:53 Since news of his passing broke, several of his Euphoria co-stars sent their condolences,
00:57 including Sydney Sweeney.
00:59 She shared photos of her and Angus on set alongside a heartfelt message, writing, quote,
01:04 "Angus, you were an open soul with a kind as heart and you filled every room with laughter.
01:09 This is the hardest thing I've ever had to post and I'm struggling to find all the
01:13 words.
01:14 You will be missed more than you know, but I'm so blessed to have known you in this
01:17 lifetime and I'm sure everyone who has ever met you feels the same.
01:21 This heartache is real and I wish we could have had one more hug and 7-Eleven run.
01:26 All my love is with you."
01:29 The show's creator, Sam Levinson, also shared a statement expressing his love for the late
01:33 star, writing, "There was no one quite like Angus.
01:36 He was too special, too talented and way too young to leave us so soon.
01:40 He also struggled, like many of us, with addiction and depression.
01:43 I hope he knew how many hearts he touched.
01:46 I loved him.
01:47 I always will.
01:48 Rest in peace and God bless his family."
01:52 Levinson's family confirmed his passing in a statement issued to Access Hollywood on
01:55 Monday.
01:56 His cause of death has not been made public at this time, but his reps tell NBC News that
02:00 he passed away at his family's home in Oakland, California.
02:03 In their statement, his family revealed that the late actor died shortly after his father
02:07 passed away.
02:08 Quote, "It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human
02:12 today.
02:13 As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many
02:18 ways.
02:19 Last week, he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss.
02:23 The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his
02:27 best friend.
02:28 Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope his passing can be a reminder
02:33 to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence."
02:37 The statement reads, adding, "We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter
02:41 and love for everyone.
02:43 We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss."
02:49 He's close to the family, telling NBC News, quote, "Angus had been battling severe suicidal
02:53 thoughts after getting back from Ireland, where they laid his father to rest.
02:57 Angus was staying with his family as he tried to work through overcoming the grief."
03:02 Cloud was best known for his role as Fesco on the hit HBO series, Euphoria.
03:07 Access Hollywood's Zuri Hall spoke to him and his co-stars in January 2022 ahead of
03:11 the Euphoria season 2 premiere, and he talked about why he thinks the show resonates with
03:16 so many people.
03:18 Absolutely.
03:19 Angus, talk to me a little bit about the show.
03:21 Obviously, covering so many pressures of what teens go through in everyday real life.
03:26 You've got social media, these unrealistic beauty standards, addiction, mental health.
03:31 Why is it such a timely show?
03:33 Why do you think now's the time?
03:35 One that it came on the scene and two, why it resonated so quickly and so deeply for
03:40 so many of us?
03:41 Well, I mean, we're in a day and age of where it's like some people, literally all they
03:49 know is social media.
03:52 And then I was one of the kids, you know, I was born in '98.
03:56 So I didn't know social media until I became like probably like whatever, 16 or whatever,
04:04 you know what I'm saying?
04:06 So I'm like, I'm like in between those two worlds, you know, but some people are like,
04:11 it's so foreign to them and the rest that's like that is their life.
04:16 So like, it's interesting for the people that's foreign to them.
04:20 It's like, what?
04:22 This is how it is now, you know?
04:26 And the people that can relate to it, you know?
04:30 But yeah, a lot of topics are very timely, you know, it's definitely going to survive.
04:36 In the film and world, like as a piece of the times, you know, because it's so relevant
04:45 right now, you know, with addiction.
04:48 At this point, it is certainly a major issue.
04:51 And it's something that we're seeing in headlines often now, even in Hollywood, right?
04:55 We're reporting on these overdoses and these deaths.
04:57 And the show really does tackle addiction in a really honest and transparent way.
05:02 And in a way that's important so that we can start having these conversations.
05:06 I want Eric and Austin, if you could just jump in on that.
05:10 When we think about all of the topics that Euphoria touches on, everything is so open
05:14 to interpretation based on the viewer, based on who's watching it.
05:17 What do each of you specifically hope that audiences are taking away, just based on your
05:22 personal connection to these stories and to what Euphoria is trying to express?
05:28 Eric, we can kick things off with you.
05:31 I think an understanding that these characters and their behaviors and the mistakes they
05:35 made, there's always moments for redemption.
05:38 I think that's one of the overall themes this season.
05:40 Austin, what do you have to add to that?
05:43 Yeah, I mean, I'm just thinking, I just, when you asked that question, I just thought about
05:49 my character, like in relation to like Barbie, Cat, and I feel like seeing how they're, you
05:59 know, when they actually come together, like what their relationship is actually like,
06:03 and hopefully people can relate to that and like see themselves in our relationship and
06:11 maybe learn something or maybe see something from a different perspective.
06:17 Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
06:19 So true and well said.
06:20 Jacob, the world has fallen in love with Zendaya's role in Euphoria.
06:25 Obviously Rue is this fascinating, very multi-dimensional character.
06:29 What does that magic feel like on set when you guys are all working with her?
06:32 I mean, she's such a talented actress.
06:35 It's like, it's out of this world.
06:37 And then this season, it's like, again, you sit back and you watch it and you're like,
06:41 you know, that's someone who does their work and knows their craft.
06:44 And I've said it before, and I'll quote it directly.
06:47 She, she literally, she captains the ship.
06:49 She kept, shush dog.
06:51 Hi dog.
06:52 She captains the ship, like, you know, she steers it down the straight.
06:56 She's incredible.
06:57 Yeah, it's really an honor to work with her and it makes the work so much easier, you
07:04 know, because she, she, she's doing the acting.
07:08 I just really just got to sit there and react, you know.
07:13 So I'm like, blessed, you know.
07:16 Absolutely.
07:17 Yeah, you know, it's the back and forth.
07:19 You need that, that, that energy, you know, and she always brings that positive and ready
07:27 to work hustle mindset, you know, she gives it.
07:30 And that's why she got the Emmy.
07:31 It was well earned, well earned.
07:33 Before I let you guys go, I want to really quickly pivot Jacob back to the kissing booth,
07:39 a little retrospection.
07:41 You stole our hearts in the kissing booth.
07:43 And I'm just curious to know what was that like that overnight success that came with
07:48 it and really just sort of turning into a heartthrob overnight.
07:52 How most did your life change because of that?
07:55 I mean, we want to know, no, but seriously, like, you know, I get to sit here now with
08:00 these actors and talk to you and I wouldn't, I wouldn't be here making movies and TV if
08:06 I didn't make those movies.
08:08 So I'm just so grateful.
08:09 You know what I mean?
08:10 Yeah, no, absolutely.
08:11 And the gratitude is key.
08:13 I'd read somewhere that you'd said that initially when you were, you know, kind of pounding
08:17 the pavement in Hollywood, your height was a deterrent.
08:20 Is that true?
08:21 Did you feel like you had to play down certain aspects of yourself to book roles in the beginning
08:25 of your career?
08:26 Yeah, I was pretty nervous kid.
08:28 Yeah, I was everything worries me.
08:32 Really quickly before I let you guys go, euphoria is all about, you know, love for one another.
08:38 And then most importantly, if you ask me, self love.
08:40 So I'm curious to know anyone who wants to take this.
08:43 Do any of you have a self love resolution or a love resolution for the new year?
08:48 And I mean that in the most general way.
08:50 I don't make resolutions.
08:52 I think every day is something new.
08:56 Yeah.
08:58 You know, but it starts with yourself.
09:03 You have to love yourself before you can love anything else.
09:06 Truly.
09:07 Absolutely.
09:08 Bless yourself.
09:09 Don't stress yourself.
09:10 Amen to that.
09:11 Amen.
09:31 (upbeat music)
