BamaCentral's Instant Analysis Alabama Fan Day Open Practice
Transcript
00:00 Good afternoon, welcome to Bama Central's instant analysis from Alabama's open fan day practice.
00:06 I'm Joe Gaethan with Austin Hannan.
00:08 We had the pleasure of sitting in Brian Denny Stadium for the last two hours watching Alabama
00:11 practice for the first time this year.
00:13 Austin, what was your biggest takeaway from the event?
00:15 Well, I know everybody wants to know about the quarterbacks.
00:18 You know, I thought we saw a little bit of good things from everybody.
00:20 Obviously, you know with Millrow you're going to get good runs.
00:23 Obviously, there's no hitting the quarterback, so you kind of had that going for him.
00:27 I thought Ty Simpson made some nice throws, including that one to Isaiah Bond for the touchdown.
00:32 Tyler Buckner even had a couple nice throws in there.
00:34 So, obviously that cake is still baking, as they even like to say.
00:37 I thought defensively a lot of players looked good, including most of the secondary, which
00:41 included Terryon Arnold, who's kind of a guy that started at corn last year, was kind of
00:45 thrown into it, didn't always have that much success, but is looking for kind of a leaf
00:49 year here in 2023.
00:52 He made a couple nice plays today, a couple big hits, a couple pass breakups in the end zone.
00:57 But, all together, fun, right?
00:58 You said it, two hours at Brands Head Stadium, who could ask for more, right?
01:01 Shoot, no way.
01:02 It was a great Saturday afternoon.
01:03 We were fortunate to be in the air conditioning, so everybody who enjoyed the afternoon outside
01:07 was a little hot.
01:08 But yeah, I agree with you, Austin.
01:10 I think the quarterbacks had up and down moments.
01:13 The cake is absolutely still baking.
01:14 You're waiting on someone to grab the bull by the horns.
01:17 I didn't really see that today, but going on your defensive take, I think Deontay Lawson
01:23 looked incredible.
01:24 He put pressure up the middle consistently from the inside linebacker position.
01:29 I think the defense is going to look really, really good this year, so Alabama fans can
01:32 be very excited about that.
01:34 For Alabama Central's Incident Analysis, I'm Joe Gaither with Austin Hannon, and we are
01:37 at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
