00:02 >> JC, how's it feel to be back?
00:03 >> Feeling good, man.
00:04 How about you, how you doing?
00:06 >> [LAUGH] >> I'm good, I'm good.
00:07 >> [LAUGH]
00:11 >> I feel like y'all had, I guess,
00:14 as a defensive end, a turning point in camp or
00:17 a key moment that turned into positivity.
00:20 >> Could you repeat that?
00:21 >> Yeah, you do, I guess, there's been a turning point recently,
00:26 I guess, during training camp or a moment that turned into positivity or
00:32 a lesson for younger guys or anything like that.
00:36 >> We got a couple of younger guys in there, just being one of the older vets now.
00:41 Just showing those guys the way how we do it.
00:43 We got Tyra Matthew, we got May in there.
00:46 Just giving these guys the ins and outs of the NFL and
00:49 showing them the route, what they need to do.
00:51 >> [INAUDIBLE]
01:01 >> Since he's been there,
01:04 he's been doing a good job at Gunner.
01:05 We got some other guys in here teaching them guys the technique.
01:09 He's been doing a great job.
01:11 Whenever his number's been called, he's been doing a great job at Gunner.
01:14 >> [INAUDIBLE]
01:24 >> Yeah, I was.
01:34 >> Just being under all of those coaches, great coaches in the league,
01:39 it's a great experience to be able to see all of those guys in a row,
01:43 come in, that's a pretty impressive thing.
01:47 >> Man, just being under all of those coaches, great coaches in the league,
01:51 it's a great experience to be able to see all of those guys in a row,
01:55 come in, that's a pretty impressive thing.
01:58 >> Man, just being under all of those coaches, great coaches in the league,
02:02 it's a great experience to be in that position.
02:06 You know what I'm saying, coming from great coach to great coach to great coach,
02:08 you'll be able to learn from three different great coaches.
02:11 It's a great experience to have.
02:12 >> And JT, where are you at right now as far as you know these special teams,
02:17 as far as contributing on the defense?
02:21 Do you think you can be part of the rotation,
02:24 different type of position, whatever they told you?
02:27 >> Most definitely I can.
02:28 Just progressing the best way that I can to be able to show my value within
02:32 the defense.
02:33 >> I'm gonna ask you about another coach real quick,
02:36 just Joe Woods joining in as a defensive coordinator.
02:39 What has he brought to that side of the field?
02:42 >> He brought a lot of knowledge, bringing his old school knowledge,
02:45 you know what I'm saying, old school ways.
02:48 Just going and learning his ways and how he operate.
02:50 It's been a great experience doing that and a little bit different as well.
02:54 >> Can you tell me a little bit about what you mean by the old school?
02:57 >> He's just, I can't explain the way old school lived, but
03:01 you know how old school lived, you know what I'm saying?
03:05 Old school Chevy, you got the Corvette right here, your new school Corvette,
03:09 Stingray, he the old school box Chevy, you know what I'm saying?
03:12 So he got it way, and we got the new school way.
03:15 >> What's the knowledge that you've gained from the old school impressions?
03:19 >> A lot of knowledge, great knowledge, just showing the basics of football one on
03:23 one, just showing, always teaching us football one on one,
03:26 always preaching football one on one, and just going back to the basics of football.
03:31 He tells us all the time, the offense do this, they'll do this in Pee Wee one on one.
03:35 So if they can do it in Pee Wee one on one, they're gonna do it in the NFL.
03:38 And so just bringing it back down to an elementary level, and
03:42 he's teaching the guys based on the great way as possible.
03:45 >> Is it a surprise you had all the firemen that were back in the area?
03:50 >> Man, that's crazy, you know what I'm saying?
03:52 That's a blessing for him to be in that position, and seeing him to be able to do
03:55 that, it just motivates me and gives me the courage to be able to do that as well.
04:00 >> [INAUDIBLE]
04:06 >> Man, no, I am.
04:08 A couple years ago, I asked people, how many years you been in?
04:12 They'll always be in the league more than me.
04:14 Now, you know what I'm saying?
04:15 Guys coming up to me, asking me how many years I've been in, I say six.
04:18 I was like, how long you been in the league?
04:20 It's either the same or it's younger.
04:22 So I'm like, man, I feel like I'm the vet now.
04:26 It's crazy how the tables turn.
04:28 >> How much do you appreciate that being in the UF?
04:33 >> Never, just never take anything for granted.
04:36 Coming in every day and just showing up like it's my first time,
04:41 like a rookie year, coming in, in and out, working.
04:45 You know what I'm saying?
04:46 Nothing ever happened.
04:47 >> Last year, it was a little bit of a rotation on the special team side,
04:52 opposite you when it came to Gunner until Isaac showed up.
04:55 What has he brought to that better part?
04:57 >> He's brought a lot of value to the other side, especially on the defensive.
05:01 Gunner, not the Gunner, but the jammer.
05:04 He's able to play all phases, and he's been productive at all phases.
05:08 So that's another guy that's been productive on his journey since he
05:12 walked in his door.
05:12 >> [INAUDIBLE]
05:14 >> What kind of qualities and
05:17 just attributes does DeMario Davis bring to your team?
05:22 >> Very great leader, vocal leader.
05:24 He's shown by example what he's done.
05:26 Also, he's a Mississippi guy, so I know those traits that he has within him.
05:31 And he's just come in and beat DeMario, and everybody just gravitates towards him.
05:36 >> How do you feel about what Marcus Mays has been doing?
05:41 >> Marcus Mays has been doing a great job coming in.
05:45 He's a very vocal leader too as well.
05:48 He got experience in the game, just learned from him.
05:50 And the knowledge that he has has been very productive for me as well.
