00:20 Marriah Juavel back with you on The Showroom.
00:23 Today I'm checking out this big beautiful Antimoto showroom in Chagonas.
00:28 And sending my co-host Robert Dumas up and down Trinidad behind the wheels of two sweet Mitsubishis.
00:34 Looks like he's guessed the first one and is already checking it out.
00:39 Hi, good morning.
00:40 How are you?
00:41 How can I help?
00:42 Well, the first, I mean I really, really like this model.
00:46 But it looks like a sportier version of what we would have had before, which is the sedan.
00:52 Yes, so this is actually our Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, which evolved from our sports car, the Mitsubishi Eclipse.
00:59 Okay, okay.
01:00 So you would see a bit more sportier features than the standard SUV.
01:04 Yeah.
01:05 So, because I noticed, even just kind of pairing the glasses and paddle shifters.
01:10 Paddle shifters, teptronic, you do get a lot of sporty feels.
01:14 Even when you sit in the vehicle, it feels a bit sportier.
01:17 So I still have what I had in the sedan, but now a crossover.
01:20 A bit more space, a bit more height.
01:23 Nice.
01:24 Well, you see, from the time you said sport, you mind if I take a touch?
01:27 Sure, hop in.
01:28 Nice.
01:29 So as soon as I sit down, I love the feel of the car.
01:37 Very sturdy, nice classic lines in the car, super polished effect.
01:43 And of course, the paddle shifters and there's teptronic.
01:45 There is also teptronic, correct.
01:47 I noticed there's, what's it called?
01:50 Push to start.
01:51 Push to start and your smart key.
01:54 What must be now the basics in models now.
01:58 Especially with our fully loaded vehicles.
02:00 They are standard with fully loaded vehicles for the most part.
02:04 Nice.
02:05 So we're going on the road.
02:06 I'm going to take you down some roads to really test this car.
02:11 And I need to get some doubles.
02:14 Let's go, let's go.
02:16 I haven't eaten for the days yet.
02:19 All right, start the top and let's go.
02:21 I even like in this feature, this whole, the handbrake being here is not that cumbersome thing.
02:26 Of course, for me, when you go on a track or any sort of off-road,
02:30 the handbrake is always a cool thing to give you that skate and to break the depth.
02:34 But I mean, I suppose this is a new cool thing cars are coming with.
02:38 Yes, it's a little luxury feel thing.
02:40 Not everyone is trying to drift in their SUVs.
02:43 I suppose.
02:45 [Music]
03:07 So lane assist in essence and the indicators only operate once I engage my indicator.
03:13 No, the blind spot detection is always functional.
03:17 Right.
03:18 Right.
03:19 Which is silent.
03:20 Which is silent.
03:21 It just shows you that something is in your blind spot.
03:23 Okay.
03:24 Right.
03:25 The lane assist is the one that alerts you with the beep beep beep sound, with the noise.
03:29 That only comes on when you put on your indicator.
03:33 That's because the car knows that you want to change lane.
03:36 Right.
03:37 Remember, when you're driving in your lane, you don't necessarily want to change lane.
03:41 Beep beep beep all the time would get kind of annoying.
03:43 Annoying, yes.
03:44 Right, so ideally when you want to change lane.
03:46 That's it.
03:47 That's it.
03:48 When you would like to change lanes, letting the car know, hey, I'm ready to change lanes.
03:53 That's when you are alerted that it's either okay or not to change lanes.
03:57 So if you're like a typical trainee and don't like to use indicator, then that feature just...
04:01 You still have your blind spot detection.
04:02 Okay.
04:03 So if you just...
04:04 So same way how you would look at your mirror when you're changing lanes, hopefully.
04:08 Hopefully.
04:09 You would always see the icon on your wing mirror.
04:12 Not change and then look at your wing mirror.
04:14 Correct.
04:15 So it's raining right now, we're just drizzling.
04:17 This doesn't have automatic wipers or sensors.
04:20 Yes, you do have automatic wipers.
04:22 You would just have to turn on the automatic feature.
04:25 I'm going to put on more too.
04:26 That will help.
04:27 That will help a lot.
04:28 So I just kicked off there and I really like the reaction, feel of the car.
04:33 The sportiness is clearly a big thing.
04:37 I want to put in Tiptronic here too.
04:40 How am I doing that?
04:42 So when you have it down in drive, you just push it across to the left.
04:46 So now I'm in Tiptronic.
04:48 Now you're in Tiptronic.
04:49 You can actually gear up or gear down accordingly from right there.
04:52 Or you can use the paddle shifters.
04:54 With the engine, you have a 1.5 turbo engine.
04:58 Right.
04:59 That gives you 152 horsepower.
05:02 Now, that along with the suspension, you actually have a McLaren strut suspension at the front
05:09 with strut bars mounted under the engine as well, which helps you with your cornering.
05:14 So even at going at faster than regular speeds, you're able to corner really well.
05:20 Which we're not.
05:21 We're at 100 right now.
05:22 Your seatbelt's on though, right?
05:24 Seatbelt is definitely on.
05:25 Nice.
05:26 Right now I'm studying two things.
05:29 Speed in this car, and of course, doubles.
05:34 Almost there, man.
05:35 Doubles coming.
05:36 Doubles coming.
05:56 A little peel out there, but that was the old motorcross mounts anyway.
06:02 That was built for cars with a bit more dexterity to it.
06:06 And as you keep saying, it's an SUV.
06:08 Yes, it is.
06:09 You know, but it has the sporty features.
06:12 We get safe as we're talking about that there in the seatbelt.
06:16 I'm noticing going through the bush, because on this trail, the sensors are going crazy.
06:21 So in this model, you have both front and rear sensors.
06:25 So as you drive, your front sensors will continue to beep as you have the bush on both sides, at the front.
06:30 Now you can actually turn that feature off.
06:33 Because when the bush is going to keep going off, if you like, there's a little button on your right-hand side.
06:40 You can just give it a press.
06:42 Oh, that's the sonar.
06:43 Yes.
06:44 And you would take off the sensors.
06:46 But when you get back onto the highway, that kind of stuff, you can turn it back on.
06:50 So remember driving out to the showroom, you remember saying that you like your handbrake, your standard handbrake?
06:55 Yes.
06:56 This is cool, but I mean, it's very luxurious.
06:58 But I like things a bit old-school, rough.
07:01 All right.
07:02 So one of the reasons for having an electronic park brake is to engage the auto-hold feature.
07:07 So we are currently parked on an incline.
07:09 Yes.
07:10 We can't even drive.
07:11 However, we're not moving.
07:12 Your foot isn't on the brake because we engage the auto-hold feature.
07:16 Right?
07:17 Kind of like a hill assist.
07:18 Kind of like a hill assist.
07:19 To some extent.
07:20 So what this can do as well, let's say you are parked on a hill and there's a car behind you.
07:25 Right.
07:26 And you want to drive off without rolling back.
07:28 You can engage the auto-hold feature, take your foot off of the brake, and make a car wheel and roll back instead of balancing your brakes, trying to match gas.
07:36 Not everyone driving the vehicle has that skill.
07:39 So if you don't have that skill, this is one easy feature to help you to pull off without rolling back while parked on a hill.
07:45 Right, so as you're ready to go, you can actually just match gas and you'll drive forward.
07:50 And when you come to a complete stop, you'll come back up.
07:55 That's nice.
07:57 Have you been to La Vega before?
07:59 Yes, to do the...
08:00 Pinball.
08:01 Pinball.
08:02 It's not coming out, is it?
08:04 No, no. We're going to the lake area.
08:07 Okay.
08:14 Alright, so, remember all the talk we were talking about the...
08:18 Strut bar, what do you mean?
08:19 Strut bar and...
08:20 McPherson something, something.
08:21 Correct, for the McPherson strut suspension.
08:24 So basically, let me show you how it looks under the bonnet.
08:26 Alright.
08:27 I suppose I can figure this out.
08:33 Hopefully you can.
08:34 Nice.
08:35 Boom.
08:40 Right, so you have a 1.5 turbo engine, but what I wanted to point out was the strut bar.
08:45 Right.
08:46 So the strut bar sits right on top of the strut towers.
08:49 And what that does is it helps with the maneuvering of the vehicle.
08:53 So compared to a standard SUV, the handling on this should be a little better.
08:58 Should be a little better.
08:59 So the tires and the rims you have on this car, has anything to do with the fact that it can't handle so well?
09:04 Right, so on this model in particular, right, so you have 18 inch wheels, right.
09:10 Now, the black rims only comes with our black edition.
09:14 Right, you will not get the black colored rims on all the trims of our vehicle.
09:19 This is not a black vehicle?
09:21 This is not a black vehicle.
09:22 So you can ideally get the black edition on any color.
09:26 So what the black edition is, you will get the black rims.
09:29 Right.
09:30 Black wing mirrors.
09:31 Oh, it's all the trims, all like the front here, black spoiler piece, black.
09:35 All the trims.
09:36 If you look on the inside of the vehicle, everything is all black.
09:40 Nice.
09:41 So you can get the black edition in white, you can get it in red, you can get it in blue.
09:45 It adds that sportiness to the car, muscle power.
09:48 Yes, it does.
09:49 [Music]
10:02 You can adjust the windows here, I feel like only doors open or something.
10:06 Actually, if you turn on your heads up display, look right on the right-hand side of the steering wheel.
10:12 It's up, it's up, right?
10:13 It's H-U-D, look for an icon called H-U-D.
10:16 Yeah.
10:17 So when I press it, you will see a heads up display come on.
10:20 Once your heads up display comes on, it shows you your speed and if any of the doors are open, if your bonnet is open.
10:27 So all this driving you now tell me about this?
10:29 This is sick.
10:31 Right, so only the driver would see it.
10:33 So I cannot see what's in your heads up display.
10:35 Right.
10:36 That's nice.
10:38 [Music]
10:54 So Akeem, this is Nolly's Tunnel.
10:57 Of course, now you tell me about the car, I could tell you a little bit about this.
11:01 It's 660 feet long, well, that's a check.
11:04 And it was part of Trinidad and Tobago's rail system.
11:07 Of course, now it's just full of bats and cockroaches.
11:11 But if you want, we can take a drive through.
11:14 Definitely a drive through because I ain't walking through this.
11:17 [Music]
11:21 The tunnel is really dark, but since we do have auto lights, as soon as you enter the tunnel, the headlights do go on.
11:28 So now we can see the bats and the roaches and everything quite clearly.
11:31 We can see everything.
11:33 You can test out the high beam as well if you like.
11:35 High beam.
11:37 You see the bats?
11:39 Yeah, I've seen everything. Everything.
11:42 That's pretty cool. A nice piece of history.
11:45 Yeah, a nice bit of history there.
11:47 [Music]
11:52 It was an experience.
11:53 Nice. Definitely was an experience.
11:55 Just had to make sure the windows were up.
11:57 [Laughter]
11:58 Driving through, but we're all good.
12:00 So now we're looking to head through the road again.
12:03 Let me try and test some of this traction controls and all these other things as we're going along to Cumberland Hill.
12:10 Alright, sounds good.
12:11 So Cumberland Hill, we'll go by Fort George and then we'll really see how this hill tests, this auto hold and all this parking button and so on.
12:19 Alright, sounds good. Let's go.
12:21 Nice. Away from the bats.
12:22 [Laughter]
12:23 [Music]
12:30 [Music]
12:35 [Music]
13:00 This is definitely one, if not the best view that Trinidad has to offer. This was amazing.
13:06 [Music]
13:35 We know that due to COVID-19, everyone is concerned with the sanitizing of vehicles before anyone else gets in.
13:42 Well, the process of sanitizing vehicles between test drives is thorough.
13:47 So you can feel safe and secure to come down to the showroom for your very own try behind the wheel of any vehicle at Ansa Motors.
13:56 [Music]
14:02 That's also true for each and every service done at the service center.
14:06 Both the Ansa Motors staff and the car owners are well taken care of with proper procedures designed to protect all.
14:14 Those with COVID-19 concerns will feel really comfortable in this large Ansa Motors showroom.
14:20 Talk about social distancing. Plus, the safety protocols are tight.
14:26 It starts at the gate when you drive in, where your name and temperature is taken.
14:31 Then, before you get through the doors, you must wear a mask.
14:35 I have very special permission today to be without one.
14:39 After that, just like at the showrooms in Port of Spain, you must take your temperature again on entry.
14:45 Record it, answer other questions, give contact info and sign your name.
14:50 [Music]
14:53 You've seen these signs, don't you think?
14:56 [Music]
14:58 This Ansa Motors showroom is so large that even using the recommended spacing of six feet apart, you can still fit 15 people in a line from front to back.
15:08 [Music]
15:12 Which means mathematically that you can technically fit 345 people in the whole showroom without breaking social distancing rules at all.
15:23 Nice!
15:25 Coming up on The Showroom.
15:27 [Music]
15:34 [Music]
15:55 Hey, you changed!
15:57 Yeah, I was sweating with Haki, Money Topper, Cumberland Hill, of course, after showing my thing or two.
16:02 But I appreciate that. But I heard the test drive went well.
16:05 Yeah, that Eclipse Cross is real vibes. Took it through from Las Vegas to North East Tunnel.
16:09 Saw the blind spot detection, the lane assist, the HUD display was real cool.
16:14 But I have one regret.
16:15 What was that?
16:16 No doubles.
16:18 Oh gosh.
16:19 Didn't get any doubles.
16:20 But I have something that might cheer you up a little bit.
16:21 I organised a second test drive with the Sport Arrow.
16:24 So, you ready?
16:26 Yeah, I'm doing that.
16:28 [Music]
16:40 Thank you, Syd.
16:41 Now, I have a Ranger.
16:42 So, I'm planning to put this L200 through its woods.
16:46 I'm not worried. The Mitsubishi can handle it.
16:48 [Music]
16:50 Nice.
16:51 [Music]
16:55 I'm not going to get in as easy as you did.
16:57 Looks a little tight there.
16:58 A little tight for sure.
17:00 This vehicle comes with automatic seat adjustments located on the right hand side.
17:03 You'll feel two different buttons.
17:05 That would help.
17:06 Yeah.
17:07 Alright, that's the wrong one. I felt something.
17:09 I think you just went up a little.
17:11 A little up. And I don't need to...
17:12 Okay, that's back.
17:13 So, that is the back. The one in the front moves the seat forward and back.
17:15 Okay.
17:16 I can also raise you a little higher if you need it.
17:18 Nice.
17:19 Safety first.
17:21 And this has all the bells and whistles, reverse camera, smart assist, all the things that I don't have.
17:26 Yes. Do you have reverse sensors at least?
17:28 I have one that's an aftermarket. I went cheap.
17:32 Oh.
17:33 Yeah.
17:34 Well, thankfully, the vehicle comes standard with your front sensors and also your parking sensors in the back.
17:40 But I love the things like the push start because I really see the benefit if I'm coming with groceries or I'm coming with my son.
17:46 Once the key is on you, you just press, the door opens and closes.
17:49 Alright. So, they've got a lot of lights and a lot of things happening here.
17:53 So, as we go along, I'm going to ask you a lot of questions.
17:57 But first things first, I've been trying, you know, I think the whole day I've been asking Hakim for doubles, doubles, doubles.
18:04 And I need to get one today. I'm a sweet sauce man. You want doubles, right?
18:07 Yeah, of course.
18:08 Alright.
18:09 This vehicle, this Elt 200, according to you, has all these great features.
18:19 I'm assuming like the eclipse cross, it has lane assist.
18:23 Yeah, which is one of the things that is very outstanding about the Elt 200, well, the Sport Arrow.
18:28 Because the fact that even though it's a truck, you still get a lot of lifestyle features and you still have your safety features, which is very important.
18:35 Especially in the roads today in Trinidad, you know, safety is of the utmost importance.
18:39 Absolutely.
18:40 Right. So, even when it comes down to your super select, which is not located in the middle.
18:44 So, right now we're into wheel, but you can switch to four wheel and you can switch between both up to a hundred without stopping.
18:52 No, that's cool.
18:53 Which is nice.
18:54 The only one that you actually need to stop for is for LLC, which is when like you do extreme like off-roading and you need that extra power.
19:01 So, when you're changing, you know, a lot of times when you buy a vehicle, they tell you that the 4L or the 4H is strictly for off-road.
19:08 Otherwise, you can damage it.
19:10 Does that apply to the Elt 200 or you're cool?
19:13 Well, you can keep it in four wheel continuous and it's fine.
19:16 That's what the vehicle is meant for.
19:18 However, if you're putting it in four LLC, which is like absolute sport mode, that's only for off-roading.
19:25 Right. Because then you're using all the vehicles power.
19:28 Everything is engaged because of the fact that the terrain is so rough or I don't know if you're moving through like severe bush.
19:36 Which is my lifestyle.
19:38 Yeah, you know, you should consider an Elt 200.
19:41 What's the overall review you hear from customers?
19:44 The 2019 models with it.
19:46 I mean, I know the 2020s is new, so there shouldn't be any issues.
19:49 What about issues in the past?
19:51 There must have been.
19:53 No, no.
19:55 This is the Sportero.
19:57 It's a Mitsubishi vehicle.
19:59 There are no issues.
20:00 Our customers don't.
20:01 It's one of the few brands that you can honestly say you don't see up on a tow truck.
20:05 And boom.
20:15 That was time.
20:16 Good.
20:30 What is important?
20:32 Hot thing.
20:33 Hot thing.
20:35 What you will say?
20:37 See, it's a hard.
20:39 It's a scoop.
20:46 Nice.
20:47 You got it down.
20:48 No drippage.
20:49 None.
20:52 I didn't need to triple.
20:53 I definitely need to double.
20:57 Just enjoy it.
20:59 Now that you've driven all the way to Debe, what do you think of the drive so far?
21:02 Drive's cool.
21:03 That's good?
21:04 Yeah.
21:05 Not great just yet.
21:06 Like I said, we have a long drive ahead.
21:08 We do.
21:09 We have to go all the way to Cedras.
21:10 So you really get to test how comfortable the vehicle is.
21:13 So right now, this car is doing wild sensors, attention, blinky, blinky things.
21:20 Yeah.
21:21 So because your vehicle is in reverse, your rear cross traffic sensor is on.
21:26 Right?
21:27 So even though a vehicle is still far from you, it actually alerts you from the time it starts to show up on the edge of your screen.
21:32 The vehicle is going to alert you that, hey, there's a car coming.
21:35 So you need to pay attention.
21:37 So it's a little bit more sensitive of a sensor.
21:40 Instead of it being right behind you and then beeping.
21:43 See, that's when it's right behind you.
21:46 All kind of drama going on here right now.
21:49 But if you notice, the beeps are different.
21:51 So when it's right behind you, it's a much softer beep.
21:53 But when it's a rear cross traffic sensor, it's the sound you're going to hear.
21:57 So it lets you know, okay, well, there's a vehicle coming.
21:59 So just be mindful.
22:00 Versus it's right behind you.
22:02 There's a car.
22:06 Use your sensors.
22:08 Well, I've seen it.
22:09 I'm old school now.
22:10 See, what's nice about this is that you're still in two wheel.
22:30 Exactly.
22:31 And it's handling.
22:34 Mitsubishi's engineered beyond tough.
22:36 It's handling pretty well.
22:38 Of course, the proof right now will be getting back up this ridge.
22:42 Let's see if we can stay in two wheel.
22:44 Again, I'm not worried.
22:45 Let's do it.
22:46 Don't be shy.
22:53 Okay, she said it.
22:55 Whoa, whoa.
22:56 All right.
22:57 Are you having fun?
23:09 I...
23:13 Two wheel.
23:16 Yeah, two wheel.
23:17 You can change between, in terms of your super salat, you have four modes.
23:20 And with the first three, you can change into up to four L's, four HLC, under 100.
23:25 So let's continue our long drive.
23:29 On to Cedrus.
23:30 So where I'm taking you through here now for a longer drive, is the causeway.
23:35 So we're going to go to the closest part, or the nearest point, point, to Venezuela.
23:43 Carcass.
23:45 So now would be a really good time to talk about that misinformation, miscommunication,
23:51 mis-something.
23:53 The ultrasonic misacceleration mitigation system, also called the UMS for short.
23:58 So keep it simple.
23:59 UMS.
24:00 UMS.
24:01 Right, it's similar to the forward collision mitigation, which this vehicle also has.
24:05 Right.
24:06 So the Sportero, if you're coming too close to the vehicle in front of you,
24:09 brake assist kicks in to slow down the vehicle and it alerts you within the vehicle.
24:12 In addition to that, the Sportero also has the UMS.
24:15 UMS, I get that one. I understand it now.
24:18 So if you are, let's say you're trying to park, right?
24:21 Maybe it's a bit of a tight spot if you accidentally press too much on the gas.
24:25 Or, you know, so in the vehicle, basically, it suppresses the output so that you don't go flying into the object,
24:32 whether it's in front of you or behind you.
24:34 The Sportero is big on safety.
24:36 So even though you have the rugged Sportero that can handle, you know, any kind of terrain,
24:42 you also have the safety features that you need in your everyday life and for everyday driving.

25:18 Oh my God.
25:20 Look at this.
25:21 It's absolutely beautiful.
25:22 A long drive.
25:24 We're here to, I think, the closest point to Venezuela from Trinidad.
25:29 Look at this blue against the sea, against the sky, three sisters in the background.
25:34 It's almost like I'm selling you the van.
25:36 But this is a new shape.
25:41 Yeah, this is the 2020, which is vastly different from the 2019.
25:45 And it follows the Mitsubishi family as it is now.
25:48 So a lot of the Mitsubishi vehicles, they have a very similar front.
25:51 So instead of the rounded front of the 2019, you find there's a more square and rugged front.
25:55 You have these big fog lights built on the front.
25:58 You have the nice rugged square grill and everything.
26:02 It's very different than 2019, which is very rounded.
26:04 You have the smaller fog lights built on the front.
26:07 So the body is an absolute beast.
26:10 It's a beast.
26:11 It's a beast.
26:12 Came up some of those hills, came through the terrain.
26:14 Nice.
26:15 And on two wheel.
26:16 And on two wheel.
26:17 Most important.
26:18 You're right.
26:19 Two wheels.
26:20 It's good.

26:51 Does size matter?
26:53 Well, it does when we're talking structures.
26:56 For the Sportero L200, Mitsubishi made sure you've got room to help your best friend move apartments,
27:02 hold the boat when surf's up, or bring the pop-up kitchen for the river limes.
27:06 Here's a little visual guide using another Sportero from the Anton Motors showroom
27:10 and some choice items from fans square around the corner.

27:26 Next week on The Showroom.
27:28 But wait, before next week, where's Sydney and Robert?
27:34 Like they got lost.
27:35 [Buzzing]
27:42 [Music]
27:48 Hey Robert, you think it's time to head back up?
27:51 Thank you.
27:52 I'll leave the booze real fresh though.
