00:00 >> We're good, indoor practice.
00:03 >> Yeah.
00:04 >> Yeah.
00:04 >> [LAUGH] >> I'm good, I like that.
00:06 >> I don't think you like it as much as we do.
00:08 >> I think I do.
00:10 >> [LAUGH] >> Peyton, around this time last year,
00:15 you had described your camp as being flashy, but you wanted more consistency.
00:20 How do you feel like that is measuring up this year at camp?
00:22 >> I feel good.
00:23 I feel that I've been really just focused on technique and stuff.
00:27 I think that my fast was better than this time last year.
00:31 Also part of that's just me having a healthy off season,
00:34 being able to practice that throughout the off season, and
00:37 come in here and apply some of that.
00:38 So I feel like it's been going really well.
00:40 >> You feel like you've taken a step forward?
00:41 >> I do, I do.
00:42 I think we're really competitive across the board and
00:45 that I'm just good playing, playing well.
00:47 >> Look, Dennis has talked about that spot opposite of Camp Jordan,
00:50 wants somebody to take it.
00:52 Has he had that talk with you?
00:53 I'm guessing you've heard that stuff, right?
00:55 >> Yeah, I mean, we talk in the off season.
00:58 Every coach makes sure that he talks to all his players in the off season.
01:00 So we've had conversations about it.
01:02 And like I said, Carl's having a great camp too.
01:04 And just going out there and competing every day, trying, that's why.
01:08 >> Is the first game week, even though it's preseason,
01:12 exciting because you get to see game conditions all at work and
01:17 how it might have paid off?
01:18 >> Yeah, I mean, you see game conditions out here too when we get team reps, but
01:21 it's fun to go out there and prepare for somebody else.
01:23 You're not hitting the same dudes all day and day.
01:25 You're going out there and seeing something new.
01:27 So that's just part of it, preseason, being able to go out there and
01:31 practice something that you, or possibly you've been practicing.
01:34 >> I think the snaps you're getting with the subs and that tackle,
01:37 were you doing that same thing last summer or are you doing more of that this?
01:42 >> I got some of it last summer.
01:43 I think that we've been using the NASCAR package a little bit more this
01:46 preseason throughout camp.
01:49 Rookie, I did a pretty good amount.
01:52 But yeah, we're just working back to, so everybody can play up and down the line.
01:55 We got enough talent to play up and down the line, so
01:57 just make sure everybody can and will and be productive.
02:00 >> That's a passing situation thing more than anything, where you'd be inside,
02:03 right? >> Yeah.
02:03 [INAUDIBLE]
02:06 >> How is Todd Grantham impacting your
02:07 game so far?
02:09 >> I like TG.
02:10 I think he's just really supportive.
02:12 And I feel like just the way he coaches everybody is a little different.
02:18 Everybody has their skill set or their moves that they like to use.
02:25 And he's just not trying to coach everybody the same way,
02:27 which I think is unique.
02:28 And it just helps you play with more confidence and
02:33 be more confident in whatever you're gonna go do.
02:35 So I think TG's done a really good job of just bringing out our own skill set and
02:41 bringing that along.
02:43 >> Are you playing with more confidence right now?
02:44 >> I feel like I am.
02:45 [INAUDIBLE]
02:51 >> I can't remember if I asked you this
02:53 before, but have you toyed around with playing late or
02:56 have you stayed pretty much the same?
02:58 >> When I first got in, so I came in right under 270.
03:04 And then last year, well, throughout my rookie year,
03:08 I was kinda getting back up towards mid 280s.
03:11 But at about 286, 287, this year I'm back around 280,
03:16 mid height 270s, so I dropped a little bit of weight.
03:21 >> Was that something you felt better or
03:23 I know they want to be a little more attacking, aggressive up front?
03:28 You're not the only one that's- >> Yeah, I think just with Dr.
03:31 Ray and DA, they just got together, got the numbers and everything.
03:35 Just we've been doing this off season and just seeing what we're most explosive at,
03:39 what we're most, our speed's the highest.
03:42 Just where we can be the most effective and efficient.
03:45 So that's kinda what works for me, but mid to high 270s.
03:48 >> You'd probably like it if a coach tells you.
03:50 >> Drop some weight. >> They want you at that weight.
03:51 >> Yeah, yeah, I feel good, I feel quick.
03:53 I feel like everything's just coming together.
03:57 >> When you came off last season, did you have any personal goals or
04:01 areas of improvement you thought about that you wanted to accomplish coming into
04:05 this season?
04:06 >> Just like I stated a little earlier, just my routine.
04:10 I'm just getting that solid and I feel like I've been in a good space with that,
04:13 just getting up.
04:14 At times I'm getting up, on the days I'm getting up,
04:16 what I'm doing in the weight room with Dr. Ray and them.
04:19 They've been a big help.
04:20 And then as far as the football field goes, obviously staying on the field is
04:24 the first thing, first and biggest thing.
04:26 And then just being more effective in the pass rush,
04:29 being more effective in the run game, from technique and just everything.
04:32 I think confidence plays into that, so.
