00:38 John Hendricks talking a little bit more about Saints training camp all the happenings and yes
00:43 I am referring myself in the third person just for that simple one little thing there
00:48 But talking about training camp all indoors today day 11
00:52 So, you know this morning started out with some interesting news a start there
00:57 Kareem hunt Anthony bar among some of the players that the Saints are working out on Monday
01:02 So obviously it's interesting because Kendra Miller Jamal Williams are the guys that are expected to have more of a role
01:09 when Alvin Kamara starts his three-game suspension plus you had you know, obviously the the injury, you know
01:15 Benjamin the other day with his ruptured Achilles, so he's out of the picture. So look
01:21 Cream hunt. I mean, this is a guy that makes a lot of sense
01:23 He fits the Saints mold running threat receiving threat
01:27 Probably wants to get a little bit more than just some type of small coin or a league
01:31 Vet minimum or anything like that might be a little bit harder to sign him, but you know, never say never
01:36 We'll see how that obviously works out and then with Anthony bar, you know
01:40 Look, he's a linebacker that played with the Cowboys last year one year three million dollar deal took a reduced role
01:45 Did everything he was asked and then some you know, most of the people
01:50 Thinking about that would say oh, there's something wrong with the Mario, but let's talk about the Mario Davis and on just Pete
01:55 So Davis's injury was asked in today
01:58 He is is one of the guys that miss practice again as well as on just Pete
02:03 So again, Dennis was asked this Alan that is about you know
02:08 Is that a long-term injury and it's talking about soft tissue. It is a calf and here's the optimism
02:13 I can give to every Saints fan. He's been around the facility. So that's the good news
02:17 We've seen him and Andres Pete around the facility if these guys are away from the facility
02:22 We'd never see them or anything like that. There would be way more cause for concern
02:26 But the fact that they're there whether they're going through a separate treatment program or rehab program, whatever the case may be
02:33 It's a good time to see them. So that's the the comfort I can give for you there
02:37 But Anthony bar, look, he's a guy that can play a variety different roles
02:40 obviously more known for what he was able to do with the Vikings, but you know
02:44 It's gonna be interesting because the Eagles picked up, you know, Miles Jack and Zach Cunningham the other day
02:49 Maybe the Saints could have looked their way
02:51 Make you get them when it comes to final cuts if they're still interested, especially the practice squad and such
02:55 But you know looking at attendance for today
02:58 Aside the big news with the two tryouts and then obviously kind of updating on Andres Pete and Demario Davis
03:05 Those who were not there today Trae Kwon Smith Rashid Shaheed. They're dealing with groin injuries
03:10 Weren't expecting to see them Marshawn Lattimore had a rest day Kota Martins dealing with an ankle injury
03:16 So he wasn't there
03:17 We talked about Pete Jimmy Graham had a vet day JT Gray had a vet day and then Lucas Kroll has a tailbone issue
03:24 He is not a practice either. So, you know again you had taste some return to practice tyring Matthew and Ryan Ramchick
03:32 And Max Garcia somebody that people weren't really talking about but you know
03:37 This team going into Sunday against the Chiefs
03:41 Dennis Allen said he expects to have the starters play. I think that's the other big takeaway from today's practice
03:46 That will expect to see some of these starters getting some reps against the Chiefs
03:51 Jake Hainer is gonna be featured a lot same thing with Winston
03:55 But it sounds like this first game, especially since the league used to have four preseason games used to have more than that
04:00 But you know, we should get our look at the starters for the first game and then afterwards it will change
04:06 We'll get those joint practices
04:07 so
04:08 interesting that Dennis
04:09 kind of give a little bit and then we'll kind of just see again what happens game two and three as far as the action
04:14 goes a
04:15 lot of one-on-one
04:16 Reps today towards the goal line or in the red zone and then you also had red zone work yet two-minute work
04:23 So let's get to some of the the big plays and the team drills are just doing some run plays and such
04:28 I know that doesn't really get too many people excited because
04:31 but you know, you got to be able to run the football and such but
04:35 What I would tell you is Chris Alave would probably be the first part that to call out
04:40 I mean Chris Alave made an outstanding catch from Carr today
04:43 It was a fade route perfect throw even better catch from Alave working against Alonte Taylor
04:49 It just comes out gets it and the fade route is just a beautiful hookup
04:54 What what you would want to see right perfect textbook execution
04:58 Perfect hand placements perfect throw perfect catch all the elements you want to see out of a touchdown pass
05:05 Reminiscent of drew throwing it to somebody, you know, that's the elements that you want to see
05:09 I think that's the first thing to call then the rep right after that Winston's at quarterback James Winston and he throws a
05:15 Beautiful fade pass to Shaq Davis working against Paulson adebo adebo did recover stopped him short of the goal line at the one
05:22 But those two hookups were really big big ones and such and so look we've talked about
05:28 Taylor and such he's a guy that's that's looked good through camp Paulson adebo had some good moments
05:35 But he looked good past breakups and he's looked good
05:38 Through camp and it's a good problem to have for having so many good corners right now
05:42 But you know for one-on-ones when the team moved to seven on seven
05:45 Had some really good work there, you know quarterbacks did fine

06:25 It's not supposed to be some big secret or people that want to hold the hoard information for themselves
06:31 I mean, it's not a secret. You're gonna see it on the preseason him in anyway, right?
06:34 so this is just some of the things that we start seeing these guys and seeing how they do and then
06:39 You know when they say oh this guy's shining and he said well we can we know he did a good in practice or this guy's
06:46 Struggling. Well, he's had some drops in practice, you know, whatever the case may be
06:50 So a lot of good things here as far as the other things I'd say look the Juwan Johnson to Derek car connection look strong
06:58 Man, you know

07:03 Operating in two minutes. So just to jump ahead working in the two-minute drill
07:06 So this set it up set the scene here the minute 40. They're on the other side of the 50
07:12 They are trying to work before the half
07:15 They have two timeouts and so they have a minute 40 to march downfield on the defense's team
07:20 It's full contact all that stuff if you will and so
07:23 It was a piloted drive by Derek car
07:27 He went six or seven and the only reason why he didn't get perfect was because he had a spike and that unfortunately counts as an
07:33 Incompletion so that was at the end to set up a Blake groupie field goal from 28 yards
07:38 But on it I mentioned that because he hit Juwan Johnson down the seam on this back shoulder hookup, which was just
07:46 Beautiful. I wish we had video and just for those who know
07:49 The Saints have a policy where we just are not allowed to shoot the video
07:54 I know people have asked and said where's the video? Why don't we have video?
07:58 We only have so much that we can shoot of practice. It's a team by team thing
08:02 They've given us a good bit of access, but this is not one of the areas where we have access
08:07 So I apologize that we don't have video for it, but I can just describe it to you
08:10 I know it doesn't give you the same effect. But look
08:13 Car hits Juwan Johnson down the seam. He's working against Pete Warner
08:19 And he wasn't really even looking at but it was a back shoulder hookup where he just turns and he's just gets the pass
08:25 from car beautiful throw
08:28 Perfect catch huge play what you want to see we saw glimpses of that early on
08:34 But that was one of the huge plays that helped set them up to be able to nail that field goal
08:38 really brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliantly executed and then you know Winston came in for his series
08:46 He was able to move him down the field despite a few different things that happened like some pass breakups
08:51 He had smoked Monday should have had an interception on one of the plays and then group he ends up missing his field goal
08:56 Wide right today. I had him six of eight just talking about him
09:02 His first kick was kind of iffy and I asked deuce McAllister on it because deuce has a different vantage point on the other side
09:09 Of sideline and it's deuce McAllister. He knows said it probably wasn't good. It didn't look good to him
09:13 So I'm gonna default to his judgment, but he definitely group he missed another kick
09:18 That was wide right and he got chance for redemption this time for 47 out yards out to close out practice. But you know, uh
09:24 Kicker battle is gonna intensify. It's gonna be good. I think groupies got a good outlook. We've talked about him plenty
09:30 I'm not gonna keep beating that dead horse and such but look that was the highlights kind of in in team a lot of
09:36 crossing routes today
09:38 You know Saints defense getting kind of I don't say ate up on crossing routes because crossing routes are just so hard to defend
09:44 You got to be in positioning. It's not impossible to defend
09:47 There's a lot of things and I know a lot of teams will say well
09:49 I'll just give the stuff underneath the short little completions as long as you're not giving up the big plays
09:54 Kind of what we saw a little bit in two minute and in different things. So
09:58 But I do want to call out to and team going into red zone
10:02 So a lot of good moments happen in red zone, you know
10:06 One of the ways that we talked about Jawan Johnson capped off Jake Hainer's, you know series in the red zone
10:13 So give us again set the scene
10:15 Kind of give you the details and all of them are my recaps to but 12 yard line 9 yard line 7 yard line 5 and
10:21 The 2 yard line that's where they run all of these these plays from and each quarterback gets those reps
10:27 So that's 5 reps a piece. And so car was 2 of 5 Winston was 3 of 5 plus he got picked
10:34 We'll talk about that in a second and Hainer was 2 of 4
10:36 But one of the ones that got into the end zone beautiful rollout, right? He hits Jawan Johnson
10:43 Working, you know in coverage as it gets smoked Monday
10:47 Really nice catch Johnson talked about his red zone
10:51 Ability just kind of growing that leaning on Jimmy Graham to kind of get a little bit better than that
10:55 So that was really good to see
10:57 You know Winston did have a touchdown
10:59 To the in the flats to my Foster Morrow to close out from the 2-yard line play before that though
11:05 I do want to give some love to Lonnie Johnson jr. He made a
11:08 Excellent read at the goal line with Winston
11:11 Knew what was coming steps in front of the pass picks it off returns it for a few yards
11:16 I mean, that's just you talk about this safety group and they're gonna have some hard cuts coming, right?
11:22 It's Matthew May May I'd have to start the season on suspension, but they have some good ones there
11:29 I mean, it's it's not just you know, JT gray
11:32 Obviously, he's more nor more known more for his special teams ability, but he's a guy that's in the mix Jordan Howden's look good
11:38 He's look comfortable as a rookie. I expect him to get some more looks who go Mottie
11:41 He's played some slot, but he can play safety Lonnie Johnson jr. Is another one of those guys
11:45 I mean you got smoked Monday, obviously, so this is a pretty loaded team. You got Jonathan Abram, too
11:52 I mean, this is gonna be interesting when final cuts come down to it and you know, I'm excited to see that so
11:58 Real good day in terms of that as far as red zone
12:03 Some less than ideal two minute. I liked what I saw out of car and two minute. I think he looked excellent
12:10 Moving down the field with these and such and seven on sevens
12:14 Everybody looked pretty good car was four five or six Winston five of five painter four four, you know
12:20 I had some some nice little hookups here and there

12:26 Because I have every single detail that I showed you with all the notes on it and such but as far as injuries go
12:32 Couple happen Kirk Merritt left with a hamstring injury today
12:36 You know not feared to be serious. Just James also left. I believe it was a groin injury
12:41 He's also it's not considered to be serious and then Anthony Johnson left. He came back in though. So
12:50 You know, these things are gonna happen
12:52 It's unfortunate that we keep seeing this also sucks seeing it the running back position, but you know overall another solid practice
13:00 I really liked what Peyton Turner said after practice - just you can tell he's playing with a lot more confidence
13:06 I really feel like it's his guy that if you can stay healthy stay on the field
13:10 He can be a real big factor in this on this defense and I like what I've seen from Tano
13:16 I've liked what I've seen from Isaiah Foskey. I think he's coming along a good bit
13:20 And then obviously I like what I've seen from Carl Granderson Granderson looks completely different. I mean he looks you know
13:26 Way better player discipline playing run defense
13:30 And of course we talked about being out and getting after quarterback, but they're gonna be some mobile quarterbacks and stuff
13:35 I just plain looks like it's been good
13:37 He's beat Trevor pinning on a few reps pennies got the best of him on a couple. It's just goes back and forth
13:41 But look another really good solid practice for this team
13:46 We're just a several days away from the first preseason game against the Chiefs look
13:52 It's gonna be fun, right? The team's gonna be off on Tuesday
13:57 So we'll take a small break hit it back with Wednesday Thursday and Friday
14:00 Then there'll be a break on Saturday team will probably do walkthroughs. We're not gonna be a part of that
14:05 And then the games on Sunday at noon and you know, we'll all be here talking about preseason action and stuff
