00:00 I thought it was excellent and I thought you know considering we made those those
00:10 ten changes for the lads to come out and be as fluent as they were a lot of these
00:13 these guys playing for the first time together a couple making their full
00:16 debuts as well over in this country so yeah I'm really really pleased I think
00:21 with the way that first of all the the lads responded to go and 1-0 down I
00:24 think pretty much against the run of play we had a really few good chances in
00:28 the first 15-20 minutes we didn't manage to put away and then they responded and
00:31 you know a young team responded really well against quite decent for the
00:34 screen side who look to play and look to really hurt you I'm at halftime after
00:39 the other we if you stepped on it and we just made a couple of changes then we'd
00:43 have a successful second half and thankfully we did I thought the boys
00:45 were absolutely excellent in the second half and thoroughly deserve the win.
00:49 Is that one of the positives that you were able to make ten changes and quite a few good performances out there this season?
00:54 Yeah I think the biggest positive and going into the game we knew it there one of
00:57 the biggest positives that we were able to make ten changes who deserve to play
01:00 and that's based on everything you've seen the players that are coming in and
01:03 competing it's great it's a great opportunity for the place to tough place
01:07 to play I'm sure of that throughout the season so really really happy that we
01:12 were able to do that and good performances it's another headache I
01:15 think in terms of selection for the weekend.
01:16 Yeah, Cassini-Ying is going to get some headlines with three goals and a couple of appearances so far.
01:22 What did you make of his efforts tonight?
01:24 I think he's quickly becoming a fan's favourite and I didn't quite see the first goal it looked like a bit of a scramble from a corner but I think overall really really pleased with Cassini's contribution, real physical presence up front.
01:38 I think he probably had four or five really good chances which again is great so he had a really good chance early on which I think he'll be upset that he didn't put away.
01:48 He did a brilliant save from his header in the first half from a corner and you know overall I think his work rate the way that he held the ball up and ultimately putting the ball in the back of the net I think means really good things for Cass.
02:00 He came off on a hat-trick, it looked to me like you might have been pointed out an earlier chance that went begging him to ingest anything.
02:07 We were going to protect Cass as well, it's a full day start pre-season and I think the first time we were able to play him we wanted to protect him so we were going to bring him off anyway.
02:18 We got the penalty and a couple of my coaches said that he's not going to be happy coming off now on a brace.
02:24 He was absolutely fine and I did say to him 'look if you want a hat-trick just put the chance away in the first half and then you've got your three' so he was absolutely fine with that.
02:31 The more important thing for us is to make sure that we're not chasing individual glory, it's about the team and it's about what's best for the team and the best thing at that point was to protect him, get him off and dust ourselves down for Saturday.
02:42 You're pretty patient with Cass but you can see why.
02:46 He's big, strong, quick and can find the back of the net. I think there's a few finer details we need to refine with him, particularly where he makes his runs and how much he damages the back four because one of my challenges to Cass is that he tells me which defenders can live with you when you get going at full tilt and I don't think there's many at all.
03:08 That'll be the real challenge to Cass to keep on this upward trajectory and really force his way into the reckoning.
03:15 There was a bit of commotion at half-time, saw people make a dash towards the tunnel area. Tell us what happened there.
03:21 Just a bit of handbags in the tunnel and having been in the game now for 18 years, something that happens far too often and a lot of people posturing and a lot of pushing and shoving but it was all fun. We shook hands after and the referee told us off which was quite right because we are trying to improve participant behaviour.
03:39 I think it's one for us to take on the chin and move on and we'll go and shake hands and have a drink with the opposition after as well.
03:45 How are injuries shaping up? Tom Lowry, have you seen any news on that one?
03:48 No news yet, he's had the scan today. I'm going to see a consultant to read the scan results I think over tomorrow or Thursday so I'll have a bit more news then.
03:57 A couple of good news from other players tonight. Jack Sparks, I thought he'd seen signs of what he can offer in terms of supply and get up and down. Good delivery.
04:04 We saw a bit of that on Saturday as well from Jack. Bristol Rovers especially down that left hand side and really providing an attacking threat and he's got really good quality with his left foot.
04:15 There's a good headache for me to have in terms of that left back position and Zach was exactly the same. It was a line-up, let alone having to leave him out of the squad at the weekend.
04:25 It was a really, really difficult one but he came on and he got his goal and that was great but I think his overall performance was the more pleasing.
04:33 The two headers at the back post, he's a player and we know what he can do going forward and we know that technically he's got all the attributes.
04:40 If he can really add that steel to his game like we saw tonight then another real big headache for everyone.
04:46 Alex Robinson in the building, where is he at in terms of being able to contribute?
04:49 I think you probably saw tonight, he looked really sharp when he came on. We only got him in late yesterday and I think he hasn't had competitive action.
04:57 He's been with the loans group at Man City so it's not been a case where we thought we could come and throw him in straight away.
05:03 We wanted to hold the reins a bit on Alex and keep coming on bursts of energy so it'll be a positive day for him as well.
05:10 Is it something to build on there moving forward?
05:12 It's just tough, it's one of those where if you come in from that environment, slightly similar to what we did with Abu, another one to mention today because I think that was his full debut.
05:23 Despite having made a couple of Championship appearances, so his full debut.
05:27 Just wanted to make that happen from what we can, we think they can do the job.
05:32 It's just making sure that we introduce those sort of players properly into the fold and protect them from the south.
05:38 They'll champion it a bit to get going so it's our job and Max's job especially to make sure that they're fit and ready and in the right physical state to play football games.
05:50 How does it look for you now, the squad with that 13 in? We always joke that it's a lot of the managers who are, so for two more normally, how's it stand Peter?
05:58 We said with the signing of Alex that that was probably it, that was the last position we wanted to bring in so we're pretty set to keep monitoring things with quite a way to go in the transfer window.
06:09 Shut up shop and close us off to any possibilities.
06:13 In terms of where we wanted to be at the start of the summer, it's happened quicker than we thought it would but we're here early August in a good position so I think for now we're pretty happy with where we are.
06:26 and getting into squats and into starting.
