00:00 Hi, my name is Michael, I'm from Compton, Centennial High, and on behalf of Billboard
00:04 and Save the Music, I would like to ask you a few questions.
00:08 Sure, Mike from Compton, I'm Ghazi from San Francisco.
00:12 What advice would you give to a kid trying to make it into the music business?
00:16 Never let anybody tell you what you can or can't do.
00:19 Perseverance is a human gift that we all have inside of us, you just gotta tap into it.
00:24 Perfect, and what does hip hop mean to you?
00:28 Hip hop is my entire fabric as a human, it's my DNA, it's in my spirit, it's in my soul.
00:34 I would be nothing without hip hop, I wouldn't be the human I am, I wouldn't be able to make
00:38 the contributions to society that I make now without hip hop.
00:42 It's the very drive that inspires me to wake up every morning, to be honest.
00:46 And that's a real honest answer.
00:49 What advice would you give to your younger self?
00:53 Don't trip, it'll be cool tomorrow.
00:56 Perfect, and who was your favorite hip hop artist from the past 50 years?
01:05 I can't pick a favorite, it all depends on what age, what time of day, what my mood was.
01:12 I'm just a fan of everybody, so I would say it's too broad to give a real concrete answer,
01:18 there's too many to name.
01:20 From obscure ones to popular ones, in between, a full range.
01:25 And any advice you would give to anybody that feels like they can't do it or anything?
01:32 Like they don't have the exposure or any experience?
01:37 Yeah, I would just say, again, just wake up every day, hone your craft, talk to your audience,
01:43 make people believers in what you do every single day, day in, day out, and never ever
01:48 ever give up.
01:49 Period.
01:50 Thank you.
01:51 Alright, appreciate you Mike from Compton.
01:53 - Thank you. - Nice to meet you.
