Meralco implements lower power rates this August

00:00 Due to the rainy season, Meralka will implement lower power rates this August.

00:05 The power rates will be cut anew by 29 centavos per kilowatt hour,

00:09 equivalent to 10 pesos and 90 centavos per kilowatt hour,

00:13 from 11 pesos and 19 centavos per kilowatt hour.

00:17 This means an electric bill may go down to 58 centavos for customers

00:21 consuming a 200 kilowatt hour.

00:24 According to the Metro's power distributor,

00:27 new power rates are due to the generation charge plummeting down

00:31 and the wholesale electricity spot market dropping,

00:34 as the demand for the Luzon grid lowered this wet season.
