00:02 All right, we're here in Irvine, California,
00:10 back half of my Saturday, two a days in Orange County.
00:12 I have five takeaways from the Rams.
00:15 Takeaway number one,
00:16 Matthew Stafford and Aaron Donald look re-energized.
00:19 Stafford was wearing a sleeve over his right arm
00:22 at practice today, but he told me afterwards
00:24 that this is the best that he's felt
00:25 during a training camp in three years.
00:28 And Donald looks like, well, Aaron Donald.
00:30 And if those two guys are at or close to 100%,
00:33 it's hard to imagine the Rams wouldn't at least
00:35 be competitive on a week-to-week basis.
00:37 Takeaway number two,
00:38 Ernest Jones has taken a major step
00:40 from a leadership standpoint.
00:42 The third year inside linebacker
00:44 is wearing the green dot on his helmet
00:46 and will play a very important role
00:48 for a young front seven as its traffic controller.
00:51 Takeaway number three,
00:52 Joe Notboom has come back nicely off of his torn Achilles.
00:56 He's still gonna have to compete
00:58 to win the left tackle job.
00:59 Aleric Jackson's in that mix too.
01:01 But it's important that new line coach Ryan Windell
01:04 at least has options at the most important position
01:07 in his group, especially with three positions open
01:10 for competition, that left tackle spot,
01:12 the right guard spot, and the center spot.
01:14 The Rams line could look very different this year
01:17 than it did a year ago.
01:18 Takeaway number four,
01:19 the running back room had a really rough year last year,
01:22 but it's bounced back nicely.
01:23 Cam Akers has had a good summer.
01:25 And behind him, you got second year man, Kyron Williams.
01:28 You might remember he had a strong training camp last year,
01:31 got hurt in September.
01:32 We didn't see a ton of him in 2022.
01:35 He's come back strong this summer.
01:37 They believe he can play a James White type of role
01:40 in the offense and provide a nice compliment
01:43 to the bruiser in Akers.
01:45 And finally, takeaway number five,
01:46 this practice field over here behind me
01:49 looked like there was about five minutes left in practice
01:51 or so if you looked at the clock.
01:53 Well, at that point, Sean McVay blew the horn,
01:56 stopped practice, pulled the team up,
01:59 and then practice went for another half hour.
02:00 It was a good reminder of where this team is,
02:04 of reworked coaching staff, new offensive coordinator,
02:07 Michael Fore, a couple of expatriate assistants,
02:10 and Nick Kaley and Ryan Windell are here,
02:12 a very young roster, a lot of promising spots.
02:15 The secondary is one place
02:17 where the roster does have a lot of promise,
02:19 but there's a lot of learning to do.
02:20 And you can see that learning happening
02:22 in real time out here today.
02:25 That's it from the Rams.
02:26 My next stop, Vegas.
02:27 you
