00:28 we're going to talk about
00:30 tonight but obviously before we
00:31 get too much into practice we

00:59 things that we saw today some
01:01 of the things that let's just
01:02 start with the attendance right
01:03 because that's probably the
01:04 most important thing. So only
01:06 new absences that we'd say is
01:07 Tyron Matthew and Cam Jordan
01:09 both were not at practice. Not
01:10 believe those were most likely
01:12 a veteran rest day you know
01:13 look cams had a few more of
01:15 those same thing with Tyron he
01:16 just had one I think a few
01:17 days ago date and- but my math
01:20 is mapping. So I look I don't
01:22 think this is really a big
01:23 surprise or something to deal
01:24 with. Couple injuries to report
01:26 Merrick was dealing some
01:27 hamstring tightness he left
01:28 practice early. The same
01:30 hamstring problem that was was
01:31 hindering a little bit early so
01:33 we'll keep tabs on him and then
01:35 Lonnie Johnson junior you bang
01:36 knees with somebody and also
01:38 was dealing with some cramping.
01:39 Dennis Allen said after
01:40 practice nothing serious is
01:42 believed on that front so.
01:44 We'll keep an eye out on those
01:45 tomorrow Davis still remains out
01:47 on repeat still out. Trey
01:49 quants met for she she he so.
01:51 It's gonna be interesting see
01:51 what happens to tighten rooms a
01:53 little bit. Then are you know
01:54 with no Lucas Crowell and
01:56 Jesse James there but- you know
01:57 team it's reported that they
01:59 worked out you know Jalen Smith
02:00 today- and so that's an area
02:03 that. Needed right and so line
02:05 backer depth is important. You
02:07 know they had Anthony bar in for
02:08 work out recently and so. We've
02:10 kind of talked a little bit
02:11 about it Zach Vaughn seems to be
02:13 a little bit more of a liability
02:14 in in past coverage right now
02:15 and so. But no DeMario you need
02:18 to make this thing work
02:19 hopefully there's again he's
02:21 nothing serious with him and he
02:23 we've seen around the facility
02:24 and- seen him working out. Off
02:27 the side you know after
02:28 practice is such so that's
02:29 encouraging- as far as practice
02:31 goes look of course you know.

02:49 one on ones. Stuff the red zone
02:51 and- team was kind of like. And
02:54 we got a lot of good action
02:55 and- we got a lot of good
02:56 action at the very end when we
02:57 had. Two back to back really
02:59 good plays and such but- so for
03:01 starters what I would say some
03:02 big takeaways. I said as I
03:04 tweeted it. By Chris a lot of a
03:07 stock. This guy looks
03:08 outstanding I think he's in for
03:10 a better year than what he had
03:12 as a rookie I think that when
03:14 it's all said and done. He's
03:15 definitely gonna be number one
03:16 as far as a receiving threats
03:18 in in Saints. On a stat line
03:20 you know I think that he's
03:22 gonna finish with a strong
03:23 run. And I think that the sky's
03:26 the limit for this guy I am
03:27 buying Chris a lot based off
03:29 like hot cakes right now and so
03:30 I think you know it's one thing
03:32 because- we already know he's a
03:35 strong route runner he bulked
03:36 up in the offseason he you know
03:39 put up a few pounds on about
03:40 five seven pounds and he's
03:42 worked on his contested catches
03:43 but is route running it doesn't
03:45 matter what route he runs if
03:47 it's a hitch a pivot a scene
03:49 whatever an out route. The guy
03:51 runs such a smooth route and
03:52 he's got a good- the opposing
03:54 defense right and so we saw
03:55 that and display one of ones
03:57 and I get it. One of ones they
03:58 cater to the offense but- the
04:00 way some of the throws their
04:02 card made. Some of the things
04:04 that he would get. At Chris
04:06 Lavey just was able to get.
04:08 Fade routes perfect. Throwing
04:10 dimes in there. In a lot of
04:11 these right there for the catch
04:12 I mean this is just something
04:14 that we've seen. It's been good
04:15 in team he's been good in seven
04:17 on seven. Look next to Marshall
04:19 on lot of more nice I've said
04:20 this on here. Marshall lot of
04:22 the year to top guys if you're
04:24 taking on one on offense one on
04:25 defense it's a lot of a for
04:27 offense and it's- Marshall
04:29 Lattimore for the defense just
04:31 look. Out of this world this
04:33 training camp and so hopefully
04:34 you can keep it going you know
04:36 it's going to be interesting to
04:37 see how they work in the
04:38 preseason we've given our
04:39 thoughts. It's been reported
04:41 fifteen snaps I think it's at
04:43 least one series will be good
04:45 for the office like they go on
04:46 a- ten twelve play drive. And
04:49 put a touchdown on the board
04:51 and- I've seen enough right I
04:53 don't need to see those guys
04:54 more second string will be
04:56 interesting to see how those
04:57 work you know I checked back a
04:58 little bit in the preseason
04:59 action. You know we had one
05:00 game was a lot of Ian book. I
05:02 don't know if we'll see that
05:02 too much from Jake Haener.
05:04 Probably a good bit of James
05:05 Winston I don't know if we'll
05:06 see taste and he'll at
05:07 quarterback position but- you
05:08 know a little bit of work from.
05:10 From their car and then we'll
05:12 just kind of see how it goes
05:13 but- first take away would be
05:14 Chris a lot of a man but my
05:16 his stock it's. Shooting
05:18 through the moon right Chris
05:19 a lot of a man but my his stock
05:21 it's shooting through the moon.
05:23 That's what I like to say- you
05:25 know. Not gonna get in my
05:27 crypto stop. At any rate. I
05:30 think that he's just gonna be
05:31 somebody when you look at it I
05:33 don't think it's out of the
05:33 realm of possibility for him to
05:35 have a twelve hundred yard
05:36 season hundred cat season- you
05:39 know have a few touchdowns out
05:41 there maybe six to eight you
05:42 know I just think that the gel
05:44 and connection. Is working with
05:46 their car and it's only gonna
05:47 get better so. I think he's
05:49 gonna be a great guy to have
05:50 with us. Offense and you know.
05:53 It's for the foreseeable future
05:55 things can obviously change but
05:56 I feel really good about Chris
05:58 a lot of a going into the
05:59 season so- as far as other
06:01 things go look- one other
06:03 correction omission if you will.
06:05 For well let's I'd shorted him
06:07 three field goal. That he made

06:15 for the team and so we're at
06:17 forty four forty seven for the

06:33 Edwards is a guy that we've.
06:35 Kind of talked about I. I put
06:38 my- list together of players
06:42 that just kind of needed to
06:43 show something not necessarily
06:45 say stop down or jump on him
06:47 but- I think he's a liability
06:49 because of his past coverage I
06:50 think he's a liability. Brian
06:52 Edwards is one just because he
06:54 just. It just you nothing was
06:56 going his way right but today
06:57 had a really good day at some
06:59 good reps and team good reps
07:00 and one on one. This is the
07:02 type of player we expected to
07:03 see a little bit more of. Maybe
07:05 it's one of those that's
07:06 turning lights on a little bit
07:07 more and is going to get a
07:08 little bit better as- you know
07:10 preseason comes up. He's
07:12 somebody that needs to have a
07:13 good camp. Back half the camp
07:16 you can make up what you will
07:18 back half he's one that needs
07:19 to really turn on any they all
07:21 have. Big opportunities because
07:24 Rashid Shaheed and Trey
07:25 Quansmith are out with groin
07:26 injuries so it's anybody's for
07:28 the taking I really think AT
07:30 Perry's playing with a lot more
07:31 confidence. James Washington
07:33 it's been a little bit
07:33 inconsistent again I still
07:35 think he Kirkwood. Has got a
07:37 spot on this team right now I
07:39 know they could probably. Cut
07:41 him at the final roster and
07:42 bring him on the practice squad
07:43 but I feel like the way he's
07:45 playing. In his mindset is
07:47 everything he's doing I get
07:48 it's not maybe the so the
07:50 sexiest flashes name but- he's
07:52 been consistent. He's look good
07:55 and he knows what's expected in
07:56 this offense so I really think
07:58 that he has an opportunity here-
08:01 some other things that I was
08:02 really. Encouraged by seeing is
08:04 the run defense run support so-
08:07 we've talked about it. But
08:08 Malcolm Roach Brian receive for
08:10 the next seven for the second
08:11 straight days he's put really
08:13 good- Colin Saunders tipping
08:16 passes at the line of scrimmage
08:17 you know I think in Nathan
08:19 Shepard get in the backfield I
08:20 mean it's- a group collective
08:22 effort but I've really liked
08:23 what I've seen from this
08:24 interior pass rush. And I'd
08:25 like what I've seen from. The
08:27 defensive line just. They're
08:30 quicker they look like a shed
08:32 some weight painters playing
08:33 with a ton of confidence so is
08:35 called Granderson so those are-
08:37 plenty of the guys this that
08:39 whole entire defensive line
08:40 group. Are the ones that I'm
08:42 paying attention honing in on
08:43 with when chiefs come to town
08:45 right and so. I think it'll be-
08:47 good. Testament of where they
08:50 may be in a course. It's going
08:52 to be one preseason game this
08:53 is double edged sword we put
08:54 the pressure on them. And then
08:56 they come out late you said
08:57 you're just don't look at
08:58 there like what do you guys
08:59 seeing you know so. I again I
09:01 don't know if I'm going to put
09:02 everything that. Happens in the
09:03 first preseason game in and
09:05 take that as- the gospel if you
09:07 will but- you know I'm
09:09 encouraged by what we've seen
09:10 in the run department and
09:11 running game. As far as some
09:13 other things in team. You know
09:15 of one of the things that point
09:16 out. I said is kind of
09:18 lethargic again. If you like
09:19 run stops good run defense.
09:21 That segment was kind of for
09:23 you. Had a little bit of a
09:24 crazy C. scenario- when we did
09:27 team in in red zone- yeah just
09:30 some off. Stuff that we've
09:32 seen but- look. Kiki Guti caught
09:35 a good touchdown in red zone
09:37 same thing with Foster Morrow.
09:39 Something underneath from
09:40 from. Jake Hainer yet to
09:42 touchdown passes in his drills
09:44 but you also. Had got picked
09:47 off in at the end of team by-
09:50 by Geron cage actually so that
09:53 was a tough one because what
09:55 ended up happening is. He- was
09:58 going to pass. And he was
10:01 rolling flushed right and so
10:02 he's just kind of one of those
10:03 desperation trolls throws
10:05 contrary Miller goes up tries
10:07 to get a little bit of it. Tips
10:09 off his hands into the bread
10:11 basket for drawn cage as a pick
10:12 that was one of them on the day
10:14 the other was a pick by smoke
10:15 Monday- earlier. And so on the
10:18 play it was intended for James
10:19 Washington. Deep right shot and
10:24 you know look Washington was
10:25 held on the route by Adrian
10:27 Frye so. Let's say that that
10:29 would actually count but smoke
10:30 Monday another interception this
10:32 is a guy that's a fan favorite
10:33 people asked about him. Another
10:35 play I mean. You look at it.
10:38 The safety group it's wide open
10:40 right I think Jordan how it's
10:42 kind of distance himself is to
10:43 being that guy who steps in.
10:45 For as a third safety but some
10:48 of these other ones you want to
10:49 see how they did in preseason
10:50 smoke Monday he's coming off
10:51 that ACL injury so. Maybe we
10:54 can see a little bit more from
10:55 him to help us out but look I
10:57 tell you the play the day. It
10:59 came. With Hainer is part of
11:01 those two touchdowns he threw
11:02 at the end. But it was a weird
11:04 sequence because Hainer is
11:06 looking is on a little bit of
11:08 direction goes left throws a
11:10 ball is under thrown Ty Summers
11:12 is in pretty much it seemed
11:13 like pretty good coverage to
11:14 make it especially the-
11:15 positioning to make it a pick.
11:17 And so what ended up happening
11:19 there is you know going for the
11:20 pick. It's somehow like it's
11:23 going to the ground and it pops
11:24 up to Foster Morrow and gets to
11:26 the- it gets a touchdown out of
11:27 it. I mean between that and the
11:29 cage pick those are probably
11:30 the two highlights of the day
11:31 and the Chris a lot of stuff I
11:32 mean this guy was looking he's
11:34 nasty. On these one on one
11:36 fade routes all the things that
11:37 you did today and of course

12:19 safety spot this time with
12:20 Marcus man is the second time.
12:22 In about a week that we've seen.
12:24 How to get some time with the
12:25 ones and so I think he's come
12:26 along well and like I said
12:27 they're throwing things at him.
12:29 To try- before bounce out. Just
12:33 some other things to pay attention
12:34 to because I know some people
12:36 like we don't talk about these
12:37 guys but- you know storm
12:39 Norton. With Ryan Ramchick. He
12:41 didn't play in in top of the
12:43 line so top of the line today-
12:45 Trevor penning James Hearst
12:46 Eric Koi yet sees our ways and
12:49 then you had storm Norton on
12:50 the right side so. Interesting
12:52 to see how he does in the
12:53 preseason. Because him and
12:55 landing young I think are to
12:56 tackle options at that behind
12:58 Ramchick in. But speaking to
13:00 him he told us today that.
13:02 He's was on that management plan
13:05 last year for those who don't
13:06 understand or don't know so
13:08 typically the first day of the
13:09 week you have a designated rest
13:11 day right and so he would never
13:12 see him in practice. Rest day-
13:15 for his knee- and so. It worked
13:18 out because he said his knee
13:19 felt great that management plan
13:21 last year something they're
13:22 going to put in place this year
13:23 so. Is other other players an
13:26 opportunity just kind of
13:27 obviously. See where they're at
13:29 and see what the Saints have in
13:30 that too but Ramchick it's not
13:32 sure if he's going to play. On
13:34 Sunday of course we'll see
13:35 we'll probably know a little
13:36 bit more tomorrow- during that
13:38 practice in the Superdome but-
13:40 you know it's other than that
13:41 what I want to point out is the
13:42 second pairing some guys to pay
13:44 attention to Lewis kid playing
13:45 left tackle. We've talked about
13:47 him I've written about him set
13:48 the plan was for him to move to
13:49 tackle. That they wanted to put
13:51 it in to put on some weight and
13:52 try tackle so he's left tackle.
13:54 Nix out of there he's left
13:55 guard Max Garcia's center
13:57 Calvin Drock Morton second team
13:59 right guard and then- landing
14:01 young was. Second team right
14:03 tackle and- many youngs plates
14:04 and guard to so those are ones
14:06 to keep an eye out for but-
