00:00 Dato' Sri Najib Razak has lost his appeal on Friday to disqualify two lawyers from MSS
00:06 Tommy Thomas from representing former Attorney General Tan Sri Tommy Thomas in the former
00:11 Prime Minister's RM1.9 million lawsuit.
00:15 Court of Appeal three-member panel comprising Justices Hanipah Farikullah, Azima Omar and
00:21 Azhari Kamal Ramli unanimously dismissed Najib's appeal to disqualify Alan Adrian Gomez and
00:27 Mervyn Laiwee Siong from representing Thomas.
00:31 Justice Hanipah said there was no nexus between the two solicitors and the course of action
00:36 by Najib in his suit.
00:38 The court also ruled that there was no appealable error made by the High Court judge, who dismissed
00:43 Najib's application on August 19 last year to disqualify the lawyers.
00:48 Najib is seeking a declaration that Thomas had committed misfeasance in public office
00:53 over criminal charges brought against him.
00:57 He claimed that he had been wrongfully charged in court in the case of One Malaysia Development
01:02 Berhad, International Petroleum Investment Company, abuse of power under the Malaysian
01:07 Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 and money laundering under the Anti-Money Laundering,
01:13 Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
01:19 Najib claimed that the charges against him were part of a move that had been planned
01:23 in advance by Thomas, and it was also in line with the Pakatan Harapan government's plan
01:28 at the time.
