00:07 Let's welcome Francis Munzayak.
00:10 Hi, Francis.
00:11 Hi.
00:12 Right now, what are you doing in the UK?
00:15 Currently, I'm a health care assistant
00:17 here in the United Kingdom.
00:19 My transition from basketball to health care
00:22 is a bit far, but eventually, day by day, time by time,
00:29 I'm adjusting.
00:30 Let's go back to basketball.
00:32 Since seven years old, I've been playing basketball.
00:34 Then I started playing varsity team.
00:37 I was in the 3rd and 4th grade in Jassoms.
00:38 Then I saw San Beda.
00:40 They recruited me.
00:41 From grade 5 to high school, I was in San Beda.
00:45 Then after I was in San Beda as a junior,
00:48 I got an EAC for college.
00:50 NCAA, so I studied EAC.
00:52 How many years were you in NCAA?
00:55 I played two years in high school, juniors.
00:58 And I played five years in NCAA, seniors.
01:01 So seven years total.
01:02 You were a kid in NCAA.
01:05 If you were to give us a memorable moment
01:09 from your NCAA career, what would it be?
01:12 My first is when we were back-to-back champions
01:14 in San Beda as juniors.
01:16 I was the game winner in NCAA against LPU.
01:20 Then my third is, which I will never forget,
01:24 I turned the ball over.
01:25 Our opponent was Mapua.
01:27 I was devastated because we lost.
01:31 It was all because of me.
01:32 So until now, I still carry the ball.
01:33 I can't forget it.
01:34 Until now, I can't watch it again.
01:36 What I brought to NCAA that was effective for me
01:40 was my physicality.
01:42 Because in NCAA, the game is very physical.
01:44 So when I got a pro or amateur,
01:46 my body was ready for physicality.
01:50 Maybe it was my maturity.
01:51 I matured in basketball.
01:53 What made you decide to move to the UK?
01:56 Maybe number one is the future.
01:59 For me, the future is here in the United Kingdom.
02:03 So that I can give back to my family
02:06 what they gave to me while I'm playing
02:08 in college and when I was a pro.
02:10 The pandemic was my turning point
02:14 to think and realize that basketball is not forever.
02:18 But would you say, Francis, that you maximized
02:22 your basketball career while you were there?
02:24 I'm counting the days I played basketball.
02:26 I really maximized it.
02:28 Since I was 7 years old, I've been playing basketball.
02:31 But even if you're in the UK,
02:33 you're still looking for basketball.
02:35 And for sure, you're also looking for basketball.
02:38 Tell us about the game in the UK.
02:42 The basketball here,
02:43 because the people here are also good.
02:45 They also have high basketball IQ.
02:48 So it's challenging because
02:51 I didn't leave the Philippines.
02:52 The only difference is the crowd.
02:56 The crowd in the Philippines is massive.
02:57 And the crowd there is wild.
02:59 It's not like here.
03:00 So you're still looking for basketball.
03:04 Actually, I'm just in denial that
03:06 I don't want to play basketball anymore.
03:07 But if there's basketball,
03:09 I'll just go to it even if I don't want to.
03:12 Our teammates are also Filipinos.
03:14 My teammate is Terrence Moster from San Beda.
03:16 And I also have a teammate here
03:18 who's my teammate in the MPBL,
03:20 Paulo Bautista.
03:21 So I'm still in the Philippines
03:23 because these two are here.
03:24 Let's put aside the serious questions.
03:26 Let's go to the light questions
03:29 that you were able to answer.
03:31 First, what are the top three first impressions
03:35 that they usually tell you?
03:37 They always tell me that I look like a kid.
03:40 But they always tell me that
03:43 they're surprised when they find out that
03:46 I was born in 1994 and I'm already 29.
03:49 They're always surprised.
03:51 And the other thing is that
03:52 I'm really picky about basketball.
03:57 Which is not true.
03:59 Thank you so much, Francis!
04:00 Good luck!
04:01 And keep on playing basketball, Francis!
04:03 Thank you!
04:04 Thank you so much!
