We have asked Chesterfield residents which are the worst roundabouts in towns
Transcript
00:00 Which one do you think is the worst in Chesterfield and the Isles?
00:03 I would say the Witt one, the Orange Bridge one is the worst one.
00:09 You just end up queuing on it, loads of traffic just stuck on it and just queuing on it.
00:16 You know what I mean? And people end up in wrong lanes, trying to cross over.
00:22 It seems to be quite panicky, so I think it's that one.
00:28 I think the Orange Bridge one, I think that's quite bad because you come off your carriage away
00:35 and you get onto roundabout and it's just, comes to a halt, there's people trying to get in
00:42 different lanes and it's crazy there to be honest. I think there's a lot of accidents there as well.
00:49 Whittington Moor, just for the new lane markings, they don't make sense.
00:58 There's not enough road signs before you approach the roundabout. There's markings on the road but
01:04 obviously when there's traffic there you can't see the markings. After all this time of getting
01:10 used to a system for them changing it, it takes a bit of getting used to.
01:13 Yes I would say by far the Hornsbridge roundabout and I come in from the Matlock area and you have
01:23 to be in the right traffic lane otherwise it's difficult to change because of vehicles on both
01:28 sides of you and I find the easiest way is to simply go all the way around and try to get into
01:34 the correct lane and then proceed from there. Going from Matlock say to the B&Q you've got to
01:41 be in the right lane so there's a couple of ways that I can come in and I have to decide which one's
01:47 going to be the safer one of the two but certainly it's not one that you choose to come in on because
01:54 of that reason and you know these days you get a lot of younger drivers who they know where they
01:59 want to be and they drive rather fast, faster than I would and that makes it more difficult to
02:05 negotiate the lane you want to be in if you don't judge it way ahead in advance then you find
02:12 there's traffic on both sides of you and you're in trouble and you know they just shoot off and
02:17 I'm thinking 'hell, so I have to go around again' and that's my problem there. The other lanes,
02:25 the other islands like the one, the Westbars, that's not a problem, there's good signage there
02:32 and it's signed well before you get to the Westbars roundabout so you can be in the correct
02:38 one there, no trouble. So what's your opinion about the roundabout in Chesterfield? I think
02:43 they're reasonable, I think they're quite well marked and I think they're quite easy to navigate
02:49 and I think they haven't got many potholes so I'm quite happy with them to be fair.
