00:04 Operation Heavy Metal is bringing something big
00:07 to Rainbow Six Siege, something destructive, something--
00:12 Sweet Harry's Ghost, what is that noise?
00:16 Why is everything exploding?
00:18 What are the actual footprints?
00:20 The chaos you're seeing is the work of the Boogie Auto Breacher.
00:24 This rolling riot wrecks anything destructible in its path
00:29 and ensures you'll always know when Ram, the new South Korean
00:32 operator, is in the round.
00:35 The third season of year eight of Rainbow Six Siege
00:37 is also delivering operator updates
00:39 for Grim, Fuse, and Frost, a significant change
00:43 to shotguns to increase their efficacy, a new weapon roulette
00:47 mode to mix things up in the permanent arcade playlist,
00:51 and more.
00:53 Let's focus first on Ram, the new attacking operator
00:56 who enters the Siege roster as part of the Red Hammer Squad.
01:00 Led by Thermite, these operators are not
01:03 known for their delicate touch, so Ram fits right in.
01:08 Her loadout primaries include the LMGE light machine
01:11 gun for matching the big and loud theme of her gadget,
01:15 and the R4C assault rifle for more precision work.
01:19 Her secondary options are the ITA-12S,
01:22 one of the beneficiaries of the new shotgun buff,
01:25 and the MK1 9mm pistol.
01:27 Bring along stun grenades or a hard breach charge,
01:31 and Ram is ready to root out her foes no matter where they hide.
01:35 With, of course, the help of her boogie auto breacher,
01:39 which allows her to create chaos in three easy steps.
01:43 Step one, choose the direction you want the boogie to go.
01:46 Straight ahead is the default, but it can also
01:49 curve left or right.
01:51 Just toggle the weapon mode like you do for Kapitao's bolts,
01:54 and that's step one done.
01:56 Step two, drop it on the ground.
01:59 Heave it through a barricade.
02:00 Chuck it at a boarded up window.
02:03 Once it lands, the boogie is ready to boogie.
02:06 Step three, activate.
02:08 Do it right away, or time it perfectly with a team maneuver,
02:13 or wait until you've snuck around to a more advantageous
02:16 position.
02:17 Then let the chaos commence.
02:20 The boogie is custom engineered to pulverize
02:23 a huge swath of destructible floor.
02:26 And because the boogie just goes once activated,
02:30 it means that Ram and her friends
02:32 can find their angles and wait safe
02:34 until the boogie gives them a clear line of sight
02:37 to smite their foes from above.
02:39 The boogie's destructive force applies to whatever
02:42 is in its path as well.
02:44 It has no problems bashing down deployable shields,
02:48 chewing up frost mats, triggering any number of traps,
02:52 even just motoring right through a soft wall.
02:55 And if an unfortunate defender happens
02:58 to be DBNO in the right place at the wrong time, well,
03:03 like I said, unfortunate.
03:06 You've also probably noticed that the boogie creates
03:09 an absolute cacophony.
03:11 And all that noise is a huge strategic asset
03:14 that you can use to cover any number of synchronized breaches
03:18 or fuse cluster chargings.
03:22 Heck, you can probably get off a sneaky diffuser plant
03:25 amidst all the hubbub.
03:26 I mean, will your opponents really
03:29 be able to hear an incoming Omaroo amidst the explosions
03:33 or detect a drone incursion by Twitch or Bravo or Flores?
03:37 [EXPLOSIONS]
03:40 Maybe, but there's something about the noise and the fact
03:44 that the ceiling is turning into a dozen
03:46 deadly vertical sight lines that tends to be very distracting.
03:51 [EXPLOSIONS]
03:52 Now, despite its bulletproof armor and explosive antics,
03:56 the boogie can be stopped.
03:59 An impact grenade or C4 will destroy it,
04:02 as will shooting the red canister
04:05 at the rear of the device.
04:07 Mute can also stop it before it gets started.
04:11 His jammers cut off the signal Ram
04:13 uses to activate her gadget.
04:16 So if the boogie is deployed in a jammer's radius,
04:19 it won't go until the jammer is dealt with.
04:23 Once it's activated, though, it's
04:25 a purely mechanical operation that cannot be jammed,
04:29 won't be stopped by electrified wires,
04:31 and fears neither man nor God.
04:34 The boogie auto breacher is built to break down defenses,
04:38 open up opportunities for vertical play,
04:41 and generally sow chaos and confusion among the defenders
04:44 so that Ram and her teammates can execute their plans.
04:48 [EXPLOSIONS]
04:51 Operation Heavy Metal is also unleashing operator updates
04:56 and a new game mode.
04:57 So let's talk about those for a sec.
05:00 Grim can now toggle his Kawan Hive launcher
05:03 to shoot either sticky projectiles or ones
05:06 that will bounce one time before landing and unleashing
05:10 the beads.
05:11 This gives him more flexibility to deploy his intel gathering
05:15 friends without having to expose his face to his bullet-firing
05:19 enemies.
05:21 Combined with last season's buff that gave him new loadout
05:24 options and increased how quickly his beads deploy,
05:27 how much area they cover, and how long they linger,
05:30 things are looking grim for Grim's enemies.
05:34 Fuses, cluster charges will be deployable
05:37 on deployable shields.
05:39 Now, if that strikes you as a very risky maneuver, I agree.
05:44 You'll also be able to deploy them on Osa's Talon 8 shields,
05:48 as long as you don't mind showing any nearby defenders
05:51 exactly what you're up to.
05:53 And coming later in the season, a change
05:56 to Frost's welcome mats that will
05:58 allow you to remove yourself from the metal jaws of death,
06:03 though you might still want to wait for a teammate's aid
06:06 once you hear this next part.
06:08 After escaping the trap, you are badly hurt,
06:11 meaning you move more slowly, make more noise,
06:16 and leave a blood trail that defenders can easily follow.
06:20 These effects wear off after a time,
06:23 and one day in the twilight of your years,
06:26 you might be able to forget the searing agony
06:29 of your desperate escape.
06:31 But in the meantime, probably best
06:33 to continue avoiding frost mats.
06:36 As for the new game mode in the permanent arcade playlist,
06:40 it's called Weapon Roulette.
06:42 It's team deathmatch with a twist.
06:44 Everyone spawns with the same random weapon,
06:47 and everyone gets the same new random weapon
06:51 once the roulette timer reaches zero.
06:54 It's a fun way to flex your skills across the siege arsenal,
06:57 and you don't really have to worry
06:59 about getting caught switching in the middle of a shootout,
07:02 because your opponent will be having the exact same problem.
07:05 There are a few more neat updates coming
07:07 with Operation Heavy Metal,
07:09 so let's hit a few highlights real quick.
07:11 Shotguns are getting a host of tweaks
07:14 to things like spread, damage, range, and headshot modifier,
07:19 all aims to make them more consistent and reliable.
07:23 You'll also be able to make bigger holes
07:26 in destructible surfaces if you hipfire them while moving,
07:30 all the better to shape the map to your advantage.
07:33 Note that these changes do not affect slug shotguns,
07:37 like the TCSG12, ACS12, and BOSSG.
07:42 You'll also notice a few changes
07:43 when you hop into Quick Match.
07:46 Rounds now begin with a few basic walls already reinforced,
07:50 and a few rotation holes already opened up.
07:54 Plus, in the first few seconds of the round,
07:57 defenders will be unable to shoot outside or run out,
08:02 giving attackers a welcome reprieve from spawn peeking.
08:06 All of these updates and more are coming for free
08:08 to Rainbow Six Siege when Operation Heavy Metal launches.
08:13 The new operator, Ram, and her boogie, Auto Breacher,
08:16 will be unlockable at season launch
08:18 through the Premium Battle Pass
08:20 and available two weeks later for purchase
08:22 with Renown or R6 credits.
