00:00 Before I let you go, Fish, we've got to talk about the blind side.
00:03 Making a lot of headlines lately.
00:05 Tell me the latest.
00:07 And there's legal issues that unfortunately we have to deal with and of course even more
00:11 unfortunate are the people involved.
00:14 Houston Texans have a minority owner that is being accused of heinous crimes.
00:20 This is an organization that was just getting out from under the Deshaun Watson problem
00:25 and now the organization has another problem.
00:28 Washington Commanders trying to get out from under and away from the Daniel Snyder sexual
00:33 harassment allegations in that front office and they are efforting to do that.
00:39 And so you're always going to have to deal with the law and you're always going to have
00:42 to deal with medicine.
00:43 When we signed up to be sports writers, we didn't know we also had to be doctors and
00:47 lawyers.
00:48 But now we've got a situation in Baltimore where Michael Oher, the great former, now retired,
00:52 offensive lineman and one of the great stories, so great that they made a movie out of it.
00:57 One of the best sports movies of all time as well.
00:59 It's terrific and it really captures what the Tui family says it did for Michael Oher
01:05 which is take him off the street, bring him into their home and help him develop as a
01:10 football player and a person.
01:12 Now there's a lawsuit from Michael Oher saying, "Yeah, but they never gave me a penny.
01:19 Hundreds of millions of dollars were made off me.
01:22 Movies, books, speeches, foundation, all of that and I'm not involved in any of it."
01:28 He claims that they persuaded him before the age of 18 to sign a contract saying that they
01:34 would be in control of all his financial proceeds from this stuff for the rest of his life.
01:41 I was talking to a legal person today.
01:43 One thing about this lawsuit, it shouldn't be hard to prove one way or the other.
01:47 There's either a document or there isn't, but we really like football for football's
01:53 sake, but unfortunately we do sometimes have to do business over there in a court of law
02:00 which is no thrill.
02:01 I'll add the Michael Irvin case to that one too where the last movement on Michael Irvin's
02:05 lawsuit against the Marriott Hotel chain and Jane Doe, Jane Doe responded on June 23rd.
02:11 That's the last thing that's happened there and yet even though NFL Network and ESPN won't
02:15 put him back on the air, you go to a Cowboy home game and up on that jumbotron, that big
02:20 screen in the middle, there's who's giving the pregame pep talk?
02:24 It's Michael Irvin and I jokingly put on Twitter to him, "Nice of the NFL to let you in the
02:28 stadium," and he was, I don't know if he was amused, but he was bemused by that.
02:33 So doctrine and lawyering and football all in one big breath.
02:37 Good job, Fish.
