00:00 All right, thanks everyone for being here today.
00:03 Just wrapped up our 10 practice camp.
00:05 I like what I'm saying out there so far a lot of energy.
00:08 Guys are working hard, a lot of hard coaching.
00:11 Since I heard to see attention to details there.
00:14 So we're making progress.
00:15 We had our first scrimmage on Saturday.
00:17 A lot of good things on offense, defense, and special teams.
00:20 We had some guys step up and make some plays in all three places.
00:25 Went through a lot of situations, third down the red zone, two minute.
00:28 A lot of special teams do, so we got a lot of work done.
00:32 Quarterbacks played well, competed, they all made plays on three or
00:36 made plays.
00:36 So we have to get better this week.
00:40 We have our team chemistry is better.
00:45 I mean, it's just obvious.
00:49 We talk every single day about being selfless.
00:56 And we show demonstrations of that every day in practice with different guys.
01:02 Both sides of all special teams.
01:04 So, and I do hear guys confronting each other,
01:10 which is important, respectfully.
01:16 So it's not always the coaches, how to correct guys and
01:19 things like that about everything.
01:22 So, like we had a scrimmage on Saturday.
01:28 And by someone overheard,
01:34 because both quarterbacks,
01:39 their units scored early in the scrimmage.
01:43 And Houser says to Noah, we have two scores.
01:50 It wasn't like I have one and you have one.
01:52 Or I have one, but Miles gets the ones, you have one, and yours gets the twos.
01:57 I have one, Miles, you have one, it was a run.
02:00 It was like we have two, which is,
02:03 that says a lot from that position about our chemistry at this point.
02:08 >> Now, as Olafus talks about leadership and the point guard position,
02:11 we've seen quarterbacks here who were three time captains, now leading teams in
02:15 the NFL.
02:16 We've seen others who won a boatload of games, were never a captain.
02:19 How important is it to get leadership in that position?
02:23 >> It's important, I mean, you're running the show and
02:26 you have to have the respect of your teammates on both sides of the ball.
02:31 Guys have to believe in you, you have to be accountable.
02:33 So I think it's important.
02:37 So I think it's hard to have a good team if at that position you don't have
02:42 at least solid leadership.
02:47 I've been a part of some good teams where the quarterback might not necessarily
02:50 have been the leader.
02:51 But he was respected enough to work out for the playoff.
03:01 And that's the key.
03:02 >> Coach, you talked about the leadership and
03:06 the quarterback position a little earlier.
03:07 How have you liked that position as far as when adversity has faced them
03:12 during this camp, and how much is that, how they handle that going to your final
03:16 decision when you make the final decision when you get to start?
03:19 >> Yeah, it's gonna be important.
03:20 I mean, body language is big.
03:22 Being able to go on to the next play because everyone's watching the quarterback
03:27 and my head coach.
03:28 Like when something bad happens, everybody's gonna turn and look at me.
03:32 Everybody's gonna look, or
03:33 the offense, everybody's gonna look at the quarterback, everyone.
03:36 So you have to have voice, you have to be able to go to the next play and
03:40 have mental toughness.
03:41 And so our guys are doing that and
03:45 they're getting better at that because we have guys that really wanna be good.
03:49 And they're competing hard.
03:53 When things don't go right, I mean, guys are disappointed, right?
03:56 And they wanna win.
03:59 They wanna win a job.
04:00 They wanna win the down.
04:02 I mean, they're competitive guys.
04:03 And so there's a fine balance between
04:08 how you react after negative plays.
04:16 It's not like, it's okay, don't worry about it.
04:19 No, it's not okay and we do need to fix some things.
04:21 So it's not, you don't wanna have unearned positivity.
04:26 But at the same time, you gotta be able to learn from the last play, good or bad, and
04:30 then move on quickly.
04:31 Like I told the quarterback, I mean, like how it looked, he threw an interception.
04:34 He saw me bent over with my head down for ten seconds on the sideline.
04:38 That'd be demoralizing to you and our team.
04:41 I can't do it.
04:42 So I gotta learn from it.
04:43 I gotta move on to the next play.
04:45 I gotta help guys get better at the next play, same thing with the quarterback's
04:47 spot.
04:48 So we're getting better at that.
04:50 I like what I'm seeing so far.
