00:00 Good morning, I am Muftahu Nabila Abda and this is AM Sports. Now let's start from the camp of the Ghana
00:06 Football Association. They have announced the list of people who are vying for various positions
00:11 within the football governing body. About 37 people have all filed nominations to contest
00:18 for various positions within the Ghana Football Association and the top most of them is a
00:22 president, Wered Ket Edwin Simion Okriku. The incumbent president will be coming against Georgia
00:27 Kwesi Afriye for the position of president of the Ghana Football Association. The election is
00:32 scheduled for September 27. For the executive council position for women, Gifty Oware Mensah
00:38 who is the chief executive officer of Very Ladies and also the deputy director of the national
00:44 service secretariat. She's contesting for that slot. She is the only one which means that
00:48 automatically if she's able to go through the vetting process she's going to be part of the
00:53 executive council of the FA. For the division one slot, Mac Addo who is currently the vice
00:57 president of the Ghana Football Association is contesting again for a second tenure. Samuel
01:03 Enimado, Eugene Noel, Gideon Fosu and then Alexander Ababio. These are the people contesting
01:11 for the executive slot for division one. Three people are going to be voted onto that council
01:17 and then for a premier league, 11 people including former Black Stars coach Kwesi Apia is in there.
01:23 Kinslu Osayekbonsu, Nana Safo Odru, Frederick Echampon, Anthony Aubin, Ransford Abbey. These
01:30 five people are the incumbent on the executive council of the Ghana premier league for
01:35 premier league and division one because Dr Randy Abbey contested for the position of executive
01:41 council on the ticket of division one because Heart of Lions were in division one. But now that
01:47 they've qualified to the premier league he's going for a premier league spot. On the United
01:51 Ascensor of Lagos cities, Edmond Akasamatek, Kwesi Apia going for the slot on the ticket of Kumasi
01:58 Asante. Alajia Kambi, that's Amadou Muro Braima, is on the ticket of House of Oak. Leona Mande of
02:05 Carola United and Rafael Jabra. Rafael Jabra, he was the Bono regional football association
02:12 chairman. Currently he's still the chairman until the elections are done but now he's going for
02:18 the premier league slot on the ticket of Ediana Stars. Now let's take a look at the various
02:23 regions, the people who are vying for those positions. Some of them are going unopposed.
02:28 For the greater Accra region, Samuel Abouabiri, he's a current chairman of greater Accra football
02:33 association and he's coming against Johnson Bussempim. For central region, Robert Duncan
02:39 is coming again, Abdelhaid Yatir. Robert Duncan is the incumbent and then when we go to the western
02:45 region, we have Simon, he's also in there and then we have Mark Bismarck, also a contestant. For
02:52 northern region, Mohamedou Abou Hassan, Alajia Rizal, he's the incumbent, he's going unopposed.
02:58 For eastern region, Linford Asamwan is going unopposed. For Ashantou region, Osetetu Ajeman

03:11 against Mathieu Kardou. For the Bono region, we have Dixin Dia, also coming up, he's also contesting
03:21 for position of executive council and we have Meshek Asante as well and Dr Charles Osei-Anto.
03:27 For the upper is Salf Zida and then Abel Asogo is also contesting. And then for the upper west
03:36 region, we have Amadou and then Ahmed as well as Kwame. These are the people vying for the various
03:41 positions of the Ghana Football Association. The elections are scheduled to happen on September 27
03:49 and by virtue of the amount that were advertised by the Ghana Football Association, it means about
03:53 537,500 Ghana citizens have been paid into the GFA accounts for these people who have
04:00 filed to contest for the various positions. Now let's talk about Akra House of Oak and their board
04:08 chairman, Togbe Afede, he's been speaking about some of the issues that are within the club.
04:15 According to him, the biggest enemy of House of Oak is the club itself.
04:19 The biggest challenge we have had so far has been from our own people.
04:25 The biggest challenge from our own people, which is not fair, even in the animal's kingdom,
04:32 I'm sorry to say, lions, they come together. They won't betray one of their own to Highness.
04:40 Would they do that? They won't do that. Lions will come together and defend
04:48 their own against Highness, let alone betray. That's the only thing I know. We're always
04:58 insults, negativity, insults, so that even the good things we are doing, people will paint a
05:04 negative picture, rubbish even the program that we are building, which is the envy of many other
05:10 clubs. It's not right. We all cannot think alike. And that's the beauty of humanity.
05:19 Because we cannot think alike. That's why we're making progress. Your idea comes, his idea comes,
05:27 my idea comes. All we see is progress. If we all think alike, it means what?
05:34 For my who is titled, we can make progress. That's a reality. That is the reality.
05:41 You know, since we took what has been a biggest challenge, make it go for us to raise
05:48 sponsorship, because people think we're always fighting.
05:53 People think we're always fighting. Those who have been against us have succeeded
06:02 in stifling our progress. Some of the things we are seeing about man, for example,
06:07 much, much, much earlier. A lot of the dreams would have been materializing much, much, much earlier.
06:15 To go further speaking there. Now let's hear from Samuel Income. He wanted to return to
06:23 Kumasi Asante in Kotoko and that did not succeed. And he rather switch to Accra House of Work. He's
06:30 been explaining what happened behind the scenes and he's moved to Asante Kotoko to materialize.
06:36 I think when I was coming to Ghana, I said I want to play Ghana football, you know, and I was being
06:46 professional because I said to myself that it's the same league that who gave me the platform.
06:51 So for me to come back and come and play the same league, I would not be something that I feel shy
06:56 to come and play the league that gave me the platform. So I came, it was Kotoko who sent me
07:02 an offer, official offer from Kotoko, from Nane Omponsa, which was the CEO. So I told him, okay,
07:09 that's fine. So I came, we were talking about it back and forth in terms of money and a lot of
07:17 issues as well. So when I came, I tried to call him and he said to me that the first time I called him,
07:25 he said to me that he's in the meeting at the moment, he will call me back. So he called me
07:31 back and he said he will get back to me. Okay. So it went to a point that the board, even the
07:37 board members want to see if I really want to play, you know. So I met a couple of them, we sat
07:44 down, we discussed and I told him that if you guys thinking maybe there's no money, I would love to
07:51 play for free. But at the end of the day, they said, the coach said, he has already had, he's
08:00 already having his team, he has like four players in my position, you understand. So
08:05 it tells me that when I come, I'll be five. Fifth choice. Yeah, fifth choice. So
08:12 and I even told them that on the day, whoever will train good will play. But they also let me know
08:20 that the coach is okay with the rivalry he has. And which I respect him for that decision because
08:28 it doesn't mean that you are a legend, so you can just do what you shouldn't do. You have to respect
08:34 him as a coach, you have to also understand his game plan. He said this kind of players that he has
08:40 is good for him. And at the end of the day, I think he finished the season and he won the league.
08:44 And which I respect him so much for that. But the fans was not, the fans couldn't understand
08:52 what happened behind the scenes, what happened behind the scene because they wanted me to be
08:57 in the team at all costs. So this is what happened. I cannot just say I'm Samuel Lincoln, so I'm just,
09:03 I want to, how to say, I don't want to obey the instructions that me and you know that football,
09:12 regulations are in football. So yes. So what, what, what, where, in fact, we had stories
09:21 that came out claiming that you said the CEO feels so big to call you. But what you're telling me is
09:29 quite different from that. Yeah, yeah. You know, you know, the moment this Kotoko
09:39 deal didn't happen, there was a lot of rumour. There was a lot of,
09:43 there was a big tension, even me, on me. The fans were insulting me, they were giving me,
09:49 they were bashing me back and forth. I'm ungrateful, I'm that, I'm that. I decided that I
09:55 would never talk. You understand? Because I don't want also big tension in the team as well. I just
10:02 want the playing body also have a good mind to also focus on the league itself. So yeah, there
10:09 was a whole lot, you know, but even it got to a point, some, some people are saying that I said,
10:14 I need $10,000 and they said they don't have $10,000. So that is why the deal couldn't happen.
10:20 But it was not like that, you know, so I don't want to talk too much about this.
10:24 But did you say the CEO feels too big to call you? Did you say that in a way?
10:32 I don't remember. I think I said something that I called him, I called him and he said he'll call
10:40 me back. You understand? And I started calling him, there was no answering phones. That is why
10:47 I got to know that maybe there's something happening. You understand? So when the board
10:52 members also tried to invite me, I went there, I was there, they called the CEO in front of me
11:00 and they were talking to him that in commission in front of us, we would love him to be in the
11:05 team. What is the problem? What is happening? And I think he said something that I had it.
11:10 He said something that they should talk to the coach. This is what he said. They should talk
11:16 to the coach. So it means like he has played his part. You understand? I know, I know there was a
11:24 whole lot brother. Not to strike this conversation, but just, just this moment, just a few minutes
11:29 ago, you mentioned that the CEO called you back. So I'm struggling to put one and two together.
11:36 If the CEO called you back, where from the time he was supposed to call you back,
11:43 I'm a bit confused. That is what I'm saying that it goes to a standard. A lot of stories came up,
11:52 a lot of them. So in essence, some of the stories were false. Yes. I'll put it out. Some of the,
11:58 some of the stories for me, it was not something that I said, you understand? So, but I don't.
12:05 Did you feel disrespected by some of those reactions?
12:09 Having given your all to Kotoko before? I said to myself that, okay, my last club before I travel
12:19 was Kotoko. And I wanted to come and play. And this is, this stuff is happening.
12:25 It got to a point that I was feeling like, okay, maybe I don't deserve to be there.
12:33 And also I, I feel like, okay, whatever I did for them, maybe they are not appreciate,
12:42 they don't appreciate it. But I got to know that it's not the same people that when I was there,
12:47 I'm talking about the management, they were not there. They were not there at this time. So
12:53 I don't feel like I have to be like, I'm disappointed. I wanted to play, but it didn't
12:59 happen. And this is football. Football is like that, you know, if you want to go somewhere and
13:04 they don't feel like you have to be there, you have to find somewhere else, which they will
13:09 appreciate you. They will cherish you as well. So I didn't feel down at all, but I just said to
13:15 myself, I have to move on. In essence, it was the coach who did not allow you to come to Kotoko?
13:20 They said, I met him one time, but we didn't even talk about this, you know, and I don't want to
13:29 say it was the coach. I don't want to also blame it was the CEO, the management. That is why I want
13:36 to make it in general that if he's supposed to happen, it was going to happen, but it didn't
13:41 happen. So yeah. This is our wrap up of AM Sports here with me, Mufti Nabila Abdoulaye.
