Emma Heming Willis has shared an emotional update about her struggle as a caregiver after her husband Bruce Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.

She broke down in a post on social media, shared on Monday 15 August, admitting that she is “not good”.

“I have to make a conscious effort every single day to live the best life that I can,” Heming Willis explained.

“I do that for myself. I do that for our two children. And Bruce, who would not want me to live any other way.”

Updating fans earlier this year, she said Willis’ condition was “not treatable”.

00:00 Hi, so I finished my hike and your pictures
00:04 are making me so happy.
00:05 So why am I asking you to do that?
00:07 I'm asking care partners to send me photos
00:10 because I just think it's so important for us
00:12 to sort of break up our thinking,
00:16 which can feel for me very much like doom and gloom.
00:20 So I know it looks like I'm out living my best life.
00:24 I have to make a conscious effort every single day
00:28 to live the best life that I can.
00:29 I do that for myself.
00:33 I do that for our two children and Bruce,
00:38 who would not want me to live any other way.
00:41 So I don't want it to be misconstrued that,
00:46 like I'm good, 'cause I'm not, I'm not good.
00:52 But I have to put my best foot forward
00:55 for the sake of myself and my family.
00:58 Because again, when we are not looking after ourselves,
01:02 we cannot look after anyone that we love.
01:07 So it's really important.
01:08 And like I said, this is a conscious effort.
01:11 It does not come to me easily,
01:12 but I am just doing the best that I can always.
01:18 So your pictures are making me happy.
01:22 I just want you to take a moment out of your day.
01:25 And I know that your day is stressful,
01:29 and I know that your day is hard,
01:31 but I just want you just to break it up for a minute,
01:33 just for a second, and just look for something beautiful.
