00:00 It looks like she's shaking because she's cold.
00:03 She's not cold.
00:04 We had a heater on.
00:06 She was just literally miserable in her skin.
00:10 Gia was found curled up on someone's front porch.
00:14 The first thing we did is we gave her a medicated bath.
00:18 It was really hard to see what breed of dog it was.
00:25 You could tell she hadn't been loved.
00:27 So after about a week of being on good food, medicated baths, daily medication, we finally
00:35 saw some improvement.
00:38 That's probably when we got her first tail wag.
00:44 Her personality began to shine.
00:50 She didn't know toys.
00:51 She didn't know how to be like a normal puppy.
00:56 The only thing we saw were her little light eyebrows and we thought, "Gosh, I wonder if
00:59 she's part Doberman?"
01:00 And then once she got the code, it was a very big surprise.
01:11 We were able to introduce her to our dogs.
01:13 They led by example and she kind of learned, "Hey, this is what we do.
01:16 We get to play and we get fed constantly and get toys and love."
01:22 And she was like, "This is awesome."
01:25 Gia's a dog we absolutely could have kept, but we can't keep them all.
01:28 We do this so we can save more Gias.
01:33 We were really looking for a family that had another dog.
01:41 As soon as we talked to Gia's family, we knew she would be loved forever.
01:52 My daughter saw a picture of Gia and just went nuts.
01:56 That's it.
01:57 It's got to be the one.
02:00 We were excited to be able to be part of her story.
02:04 We were excited that we could take her and love her.
02:07 And after what she'd been through, it was an honor.
02:12 So she hadn't actually even learned to really walk on a leash.
02:16 So that was always about her that.
02:20 She gets her leash and if I'm slow, she'll kind of put her mouth in and shake and show
02:24 me, "Let's go."
02:32 She's delightfully clumsy.
02:35 There is nothing graceful about Gia.
02:39 She's got a way of walking that's not prim at all.
02:42 It's just, "This is me."
02:45 Here in Texas and when we had that horrible freeze, there was a point where none of us
02:51 were really feeling like smiling.
02:54 And here's Gia just frolicking in the snow.
03:00 She's just always positive.
03:02 We just love her.
