00:00 All right, so good practice, a lot of, again, a lot of situational work today.
00:08 Caesar, we used left practice with a shoulder injury.
00:13 We'll get that evaluated.
00:14 Something kind of banged up a little bit in the game, but I don't expect it to be anything significant.
00:22 But, you know, we're going to take a look at it.
00:24 And then, Tayson kind of strained his oblique.
00:27 Again, I don't think that's anything significant, but, you know, we may have to rest him for a day or two.
00:33 We'll see.
00:35 Fittis, you said strained?
00:37 Strained oblique.
00:39 Yeah, I think the oblique is in here somewhere.
00:43 When you went back and got the tape, was the scene out this evening differently?
00:47 Did you feel any differently?
00:49 No, look, I mean, it was pretty much what I thought we saw on game day.
00:54 I thought that, you know, probably the first quarter and a half was outstanding with all the guys that were in the game.
01:01 You know, the ones that needed, you know, the second group.
01:06 You know, I thought the punt and the explosive play kind of changed the momentum of the game a little bit.
01:13 I didn't think we played particularly well really throughout the kind of midway through the second quarter
01:20 and then into probably a little bit into the fourth.
01:24 But I thought the two positives that I thought were really good is I did think we started fast,
01:30 and I thought we pitched really strong.
01:33 So that was good.
01:35 The takeaways were awesome to see.
01:37 You know, I count the fourth and one stop as a takeaway.
01:40 You take the ball over to midfield, so that was good to see.
01:44 So I thought overall I was pleased with what I saw.
01:47 There's still a lot of things we have to improve on, but overall a good start.
01:51 Dennis, when you look at going out to L.A., it looks like it's going to provide a great challenge.
01:56 Also, it looks like a joyful, real mad, open attack.
02:00 Yeah, look, I think it challenges a lot of guys.
02:04 Yeah, obviously they've got some really good players really on both sides of the ball.
02:11 They operate really well offensively.
02:14 We'll get to see what they look like with a new offensive coordinator,
02:18 so that will be a little bit different for us.
02:21 But yeah, they've got a lot of really good players.
02:23 There should be some good work.
02:24 We're looking forward to getting on the road tomorrow and going and working against those guys.
02:28 What do you all like about Darrell Lee?
02:31 Look, he's had some success in our league.
02:36 He had a really good workout the other day.
02:38 He was around really well.
02:40 He's a big physical runner, and we felt like he'd be somebody good to bring into the mix.
02:47 We'll see what he can do.
02:49 I know when you all went to California, Sean and Anthony had coached together before.
02:53 Was this just more of like getting out of the weather familiarity, or do you have a relationship?
02:56 A little bit.
02:57 We played the Chargers last year in the preseason, and Brandon and I kind of communicated
03:05 that we'd love to come back out there and work against those guys.
03:08 It's been a good trip for us.
03:10 It gives us an opportunity to kind of get out of the elements here, a little bit cooler weather,
03:15 and get a chance to work against good football teams.
03:18 What are your thoughts on Trevor Penning's performance on Sunday?
03:21 I thought solid.
03:22 Yeah, I thought solid.
03:24 I think every time he gets a chance to take the field, every ref he gets, he gets a little bit better.
03:30 He's a guy that's missed a ton of work, and so we'll try to give him as many opportunities
03:37 as we can to get refs so he can improve, and I think he's doing that.
03:42 Dennis, how is he?
03:44 How is he?
03:45 Kind of like you guys see something, you want to crack it in.
03:47 How is he able to take a chance and get it back on the field?
03:50 You talking about Trevor?
03:51 Yeah.
03:52 Yeah, I think he does a good job.
03:55 He doesn't make the same mistakes a lot, but yet there's a lot of things he hasn't seen.
04:01 And so it's just a process, and I like where he's at, I like what he's doing, and just got to keep working.
04:12 I think you mentioned Ruiz and Taysom.
04:15 Was Michael Thomas a vet day?
04:17 Just a vet day, yeah.
04:18 There was a few guys that we had days off today to try to--it was first game action in a while,
04:24 so we wanted to give him a couple days to kind of get recovered.
04:28 I expect he'll be full go when we're out there in L.A.
04:31 Dennis, after watching the film, it seemed like they were both really active.
04:36 Brian Conley and Ty Summers, they're veteran NFL players.
04:40 It seems like they looked--they knew what they were doing and they were really active.
04:43 Yeah, look, I think Brian Conley as a linebacker has really improved,
04:47 and he's a guy that's kind of caught my eye a few times, probably specifically over the last couple of weeks.
04:55 And look, Ty Summers went in, executed on defense and played really well in the special teams.
05:01 So those are two guys that are fighting to make the roster, and they both made a good impression in the game.
05:09 Do you have any updates in terms of the roster?
05:16 Listen, nothing other than I don't feel like it was good news.
05:22 How long does that be? I don't really know exactly, but I don't expect him to be out for any length of time.
05:29 Is he going to stay here this week or tomorrow?
05:32 He'll travel.
05:35 Yeah, he'll rehab from there, and look, I think there's a chance that he might be available for the game.
05:41 Can you talk to Brandon Staley yet about what the format's going to be?
05:45 Yeah, yeah.
05:47 What will be on Tuesday?
05:48 Very similar to what we've done in previous joint practices, you know, a lot of teamwork, a lot of situational,
05:56 you know, third down, red zone, two minute, all those kinds of things.
06:00 So a little bit of one-on-one, probably not a ton different than what we've seen out here the last few weeks,
06:07 just people having an opportunity to do it against somebody else.
06:10 Can you expect Derek Clark to play with the Cleveland Gang?
06:13 We'll see. We'll see.
06:16 Yeah, the coach will be pleased with, like you said, I think we are a creature of habit to be plus one when the game's all said and done,
06:24 and then that turnover.
06:26 Yeah, I count as plus two when we're down to four thousand.
06:29 So I'm saying plus two, you know, which makes you about an 85% winner in our league.
06:34 So, yeah, look, I think it's been well documented.
06:38 We've got to do a better job of taking the ball away this year, and we've got to protect the ball this year.
06:44 So, you know, good start.
06:47 Coach, I know we asked about Ohio State guys, hometown guys, and the other way you speak about O-C,
06:54 does that just help you in the transition?
06:57 Listen, you probably have to ask one of these hometown guys if that helps in the transition or not.
07:04 I mean, he's an NFL player fighting to make a roster,
07:09 and we felt like he was talented enough that we wanted to give him a shot.
