Bundelkhand architecture is an amalgamation of Islamic and Hindu elements. Some of the key features are domes, cenotaphs and gardens. Of the two types of domes, the round onion dome is a takeaway from the Mughal style of architecture and the ribbed one is typical of Hindu architecture. While, cenotaphs, burial monuments (similar to those of the Rajputs)with chhatris were borrowed from the Mughals. The gardens created by the Bundela rulers, inspired by the Mughals, are an important link to the socio-cultural history of Bundelkhand. The Bundeli architecture effortlessly blends the two styles to create enduring structures.
