00:02 - The Athertons are a family
00:05 from the southwest of England.
00:06 - The whole family all won a World Cup on the same weekend,
00:12 which has never, ever been done before.
00:14 They're a unique unit and pretty damn scary.
00:18 I'm gonna race against them.
00:20 - Rach is the youngest, G's the middle man,
00:28 and Matthew's the ring leader of the gang.
00:30 - Dan Atherton is the original, he's the instigator.
00:33 - We were racing World Cups with all the guys
00:35 and just kind of suddenly it was like,
00:37 this is really happening, this is really possible.
00:40 - When you look at Rachel,
00:42 undoubtedly one of the greatest downhill racers.
00:46 I mean, she is never cruising, ever.
00:50 - I won everything, it's pretty mad.
00:52 - And then there's G.
00:54 - G is the utter lunatic.
00:57 - Yeah, you're like, oh my God, I'm going so fast.
00:59 I'm gonna overshoot it.
01:01 - I think when you build something that's scary,
01:03 it's just trying to prove to myself that I can do it.
01:05 - We basically moved up to Wales just for riding, really.
01:11 - They maybe drove up that valley 15 years ago,
01:14 thinking, oh, let's go make some tracks in those woods.
01:17 And now they own the woods.
01:18 - We just kind of wanted to help out the next generation,
01:23 just kind of bring them on in a good way.
01:26 - Because you've got a sawmill here,
01:27 it allows us to do such cool stuff on the park.
01:30 - We spent our whole lives developing bikes.
01:34 - We know what we want to ride, we know what works.
01:38 We're putting our life into this sport.
01:39 Let's build something big that can stay with us.
01:42 - Basically built a line right on top of the mountain there.
01:47 You're right on the knife edge of the ridge.
01:49 Then you just literally jump into like oblivion.
01:52 Room for error is just absolutely zero.
