00:00 Right now it's becoming a rivalry.
00:01 So, you know, people want to become a rivalry.
00:04 Every time I'm doing interviews, it's a rivalry.
00:07 So, you know what I'm saying?
00:08 They're just putting it out there,
00:08 trying to make it a rivalry now.
00:10 - I'm Robin Lundberg, joined now by Bengals wide receiver,
00:13 Jamar Chase, on behalf of Sleep Number,
00:15 the official sleep and wellness partner of the NFL.
00:18 He's got the new campaign going,
00:19 the friendly competition with Justin Jefferson.
00:22 And Jamar, on that note,
00:23 I saw he's rated 99 in Madden and you're a 94.
00:27 What are you going to say about that?
00:29 - That's a good way to get me started this morning.
00:32 Yeah, I'm proud of him, man.
00:35 You know, honestly, that's a hard thing to get right there.
00:38 Gotta keep working from mine, but no,
00:41 I ain't never going to say nothing bad about bro,
00:43 bro doing his thing right now, but I'll be up there soon.
00:46 - Well, you don't have to bring him down to put yourself up.
00:48 I've seen you in the past say you're better
00:49 because he stole your moves.
00:51 Do you still believe that's the case,
00:52 that Jamar Chase is better than Justin Jefferson?
00:55 - Yeah, I always think I'm better than the next man.
00:59 That's the competition for us.
01:01 That's what we're there for.
01:02 - You guys were in competition together on that LSU team.
01:05 Looking back at that with Joe Burrow,
01:07 of course, your quarterback now still throwing you the ball.
01:09 Do you think that's the greatest college football team
01:11 of all time?
01:12 - 2019, of course.
01:13 I think so, yeah.
01:15 Yeah, 100%.
01:17 - Just no doubts about it.
01:18 No questions at all.
01:20 - No, I gotta do, man.
01:21 We definitely did that.
01:22 We eased that hole in year 15,
01:24 and then won a championship.
01:26 So it was definitely one of the best years
01:28 I had in college.
01:29 - Your coach back then, Coach O,
01:30 have you seen any of his viral moments?
01:32 You think he should be returning to the sideline
01:35 or continuing to live his best life?
01:37 - I've seen some of the moments,
01:39 you know what I'm saying?
01:40 But hopefully, it gets his foot back on the field
01:42 and gets back on track.
01:43 - You think he would fit in well
01:45 with pretty much any program out there?
01:47 - I don't know.
01:48 I'm pretty sure everyone has a certain fit
01:50 they love to be in, you know what I'm saying?
01:51 Certain category.
01:53 Of course, O has one.
01:54 - What kind of fit is that?
01:57 - If I knew, I'd hire him somewhere, but I don't.
02:00 (laughing)
02:01 - All right.
02:02 Now, it's been obviously a seamless fit for you
02:04 back in college and now in the pros with Joe Burrow,
02:07 but I know you said he should take his time
02:10 getting back out there.
02:11 I believe I saw he's running and everything.
02:13 Are you looking at him sideways a little bit?
02:16 How are you helping Joe Burrow in this recovery process?
02:20 - Yeah, man.
02:21 Honestly, I get the same question a lot,
02:23 you know what I'm saying?
02:24 I just try to play my part,
02:25 make sure my spirit's still high
02:27 and just keep him pushing forward,
02:28 you know what I'm saying?
02:30 I don't really have a big say on his injury.
02:32 That's his injury and his body and how he treats himself.
02:35 As far as me wanting him during the season,
02:37 I want him to stay as healthy as possible
02:39 for as long as possible.
02:41 - You expect to see him play in week one?
02:44 - I don't know what I expect him to do.
02:45 You know what I'm saying?
02:46 It's not about what I expect,
02:47 it's about how he feels, you know what I'm saying?
02:49 So that's the biggest thing about this whole thing.
02:53 - Well, the other layer of that
02:54 is the backup quarterback situation.
02:57 Do you see a heated competition
02:59 between Trevor Simeon and Browning?
03:02 - Yeah, I see a friendly competition,
03:04 you know what I'm saying?
03:04 You gotta have the quarterbacks doing competition.
03:06 That's how they get better.
03:07 You know, they're just pushing each other both to be better.
03:10 The wide receivers are trying to push those guys too.
03:13 And you know, we both pushing each other as well.
03:15 - Do you have confidence in either guy
03:17 if they're starting the season?
03:18 - Yeah, man.
03:19 That's the biggest thing right now,
03:21 making sure they keep that confidence
03:22 and just pushing forward, man.
03:23 So that's all I can do.
03:25 - You know, two wide receivers,
03:26 well, more than that, obviously,
03:28 but another guy on your team is Tee Higgins.
03:31 Do you think he gets enough credit for how good he is?
03:33 - No, not really, man.
03:34 He doesn't get enough credit.
03:36 I don't even think he was ranked in the top 100,
03:39 you know what I'm saying?
03:40 So he gotta be in there somehow, man.
03:41 You know, Tee's a very great player.
03:44 He has great instincts, ball skills, you know.
03:46 He has it all, you know.
03:47 And I think he should be definitely in the 800.
03:50 - And you know, I think it goes without saying,
03:51 you believe you two are the best wide receiver tandem
03:54 in the NFL and would help any quarterback have success?
03:57 - Yeah, best duo.
03:58 You know, everybody already knows that.
04:00 But you know, I love the speaking.
04:02 I know I play through the speaking for it, so.
04:05 - Well, you did do a little speaking
04:07 in the lead up to the season, you know,
04:08 with Patrick Mahomes and that whole exchange,
04:11 Travis Kelsey.
04:12 Did you see the quarterback series where Mahomes had said,
04:15 you know, he thought the Bills were a better matchup,
04:17 but he wanted the Bengals?
04:19 How badly do you want to get back at the Chiefs?
04:22 - No, I didn't see that.
04:23 I don't be snooping around for stuff like that.
04:25 So we're not really worried about it.
04:27 I ain't gonna say we're not worried about it.
04:29 We know we gotta punch him in the mud again,
04:32 you know what I'm saying?
04:32 When we get the chance to.
04:34 And take care of business, man.
04:36 We know what's in store now.
04:37 - Do you have any message for Travis Kelsey?
04:40 Because, you know, he said if you guys are gonna talk,
04:42 you gotta back it up.
04:44 - I'm pretty sure I'll back it up every time I play him.
04:46 So, you know, he just wants me to trip back with him.
04:49 I ain't gonna go back and fool him.
04:50 I'll do that.
04:51 - Is that the best rivalry in the NFL?
04:52 Chiefs-Bengals?
04:54 - Right now, yeah.
04:55 Right now it's becoming a rivalry.
04:56 So, you know, people want to become a rivalry.
04:59 Every time I'm doing interviews, it's a rivalry.
05:02 So, you know what I'm saying?
05:03 They just putting it out there,
05:04 trying to make it a rivalry now.
05:06 - What's one word to describe how you feel about the Chiefs?
05:09 - Topsy.
05:10 - All right, before we get back into your partnership
05:13 with Sleep Number,
05:14 let me get your receiver, Mount Rushmore, real quick.
05:16 All time, top four receivers.
05:18 - All right, I'm gonna do Kelvin Johnson.
05:21 I gotta get Antonio Brown in there.
05:23 I'd probably throw Hooper Cup in there.
05:26 I'd throw Cup in there.
05:27 Gotta throw Cup in there with the triple crown.
05:29 And Jerry Rice, of course.
05:32 - So, no Randy Moss or T.O.?
05:35 - I'm not knocking him, you know what I'm saying?
05:36 I'd add Ocho in there too, if I could.
05:38 But you just, you know what I'm saying?
05:40 That's only four.
05:41 - Yeah, no, I hear you.
05:44 That's right, it's always tough to put them together.
05:46 All right, you know, you make your best list.
05:48 You give your best answers.
05:50 You play your best football when you get your best sleep.
05:52 Tell us about your partnership with Sleep Number
05:55 and what you guys are doing.
05:57 - Yeah, Sleep Number got me with this
06:00 to show off what the sleep's looking like for us.
06:04 Give them way more sleep.
06:05 I've been getting better sleep.
06:07 I know other athletes who haven't been getting better sleep.
06:10 'Cause you know, that's what the whole thing is about.
06:12 And you know, from the competition with Justin,
06:15 now that it's off the field,
06:16 you know, we're doing it with the Sleep Number now.
06:19 So who gets the best sleep with that?
06:20 So like I said, it's all about the sleep, you know,
06:23 and just making ways to make it more,
06:25 you know, available for us athletes.
06:27 - All right, Jamar Chase, good luck with the Bengals
06:29 and this upcoming NFL season.
06:31 Thanks for the time.
06:32 - No problem, thank you.
