Custom-built Rolls-Royce Droptail Introduced in Monterey and Limited to Four Units.
The four Rolls-Royce Droptail models are claimed to cost around $25 million each.

The Rolls-Royce Coachbuild division unveiled its newest masterpiece, the highly exclusive Droptail, at Monterey Auto Week. Limited to just four units worldwide, the car offered in California is the first of these four and is known as La Rose Noire.

Unlike the Rolls-Royce Sweptail and Boat Tail, the Droptail is not based on the same Luxury of Luxury platform as the Cullinan, Ghost and Phantom and instead features a new monocoque chassis made of steel, aluminum and carbon fiber. Although the struts are new, the drivetrain takes the form of the brand's 6.75-liter twin-turbocharged V12 pumping out 593 hp and 620 lb-ft (840 Nm) of torque. While a car like this isn't all about straight-line performance, it appears to be able to accelerate to 100 km/h in less than 5.0 seconds while accelerating to a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

A unique exterior design immediately sets the Droptail apart from all other Rolls-Royce models. The front end is relatively traditional, with a large chrome grille and slim LED headlights with daytime running lights. The body then adopts a smooth and flowing design along the edges and tapers towards the rear end with a set of taillights unlike any we've seen before. Rolls-Royce also equipped the Droptail with a stylish spoiler and an eye-catching tailgate. It even has a removable roof panel made of carbon fiber with electrochromic panels.

Rolls-Royce describes the interior as the car's "most striking element". It took almost two years to perfect and is a design dominated by intricate artworks that represent the expression of falling rose petals, individually crafted from 1,603 pieces of black wood veneer. While the seats are washed in a combination of leather in True Love red and Mystery red, there is a special watch signed by Audemars Piguet in the middle of the dashboard. This 43mm chronograph features red counters and a red inner bezel and features a flying chronograph. Interestingly, the watch can be removed with the push of a button and worn with a strap.

As if that wasn't enough, the family that ordered the car also ordered a one-off Rolls-Royce Champagne Crate to fit the car. This champagne chest can be opened with the push of a button and contains hand-blown crystal champagne glasses and a serving tray.

Rolls-Royce hasn't said how much each of the four Droptail models will cost, but one source estimates each to be around $25 million.
