Shanthi Priya Recalls Once Akshay Pointed Out Her Knees And Asked Her Why They Were So Dark

00:49 She said, "It is a sensitive topic he must have not realized.

00:52 In front of everybody he pointed out my knees and he said, 'Oh, see how dark they are.

00:57 Did you get hurt or something?

00:58 Did you fall down somewhere?'

01:01 He said, 'What happened, dude?

01:02 Why are your knees so dark and black?

01:05 Is it a blood clot?'"

01:06 She further concluded that Akshay's hurtful remarks about her skin colour made her slip

01:11 She shared that she and her sister Bhanu Priya encounter considerable prejudices based on

01:16 completion in South Indian film industry.

01:18 Shanti added that this struggle persists for her family even today, not only in the 90s.

01:27 She said, "Initially they were all laughing and everything was going smoothly.

01:31 Then I was like, 'Okay, did you really mean it?'

01:35 I quietly went and talked to her, as she used to accompany me.

01:39 So I went quietly and then they realized that it was quite serious."
