00:18 His gasoline car, he made it with electricity.

00:30 he doesn't have a problem with the rising price of gasoline.

00:32 To make his car run, he just charges it like a cellphone.

00:36 This is his improvised electric car.

00:39 Albert's car doesn't work anymore when he bought it.

00:44 It's junk. We bought it to make a piece of a car.

00:47 So to make it more profitable, he made it.

00:50 I got an electric motor. I tried to install it there.

00:53 The controller came from an online shop, and the motor came from a junk shop.

00:58 And after almost 3 months,

01:00 It worked. I have a charger that is universal.

01:03 4 hours before it gets full charged.

01:05 One full charge is about 50 kilometers.

01:14 The concept of EVs or electric vehicles sounds modern.

01:17 Did you know that it was developed before?

01:19 The first EV was developed by the Scottish inventor Robert Anderson in the 1830s.

01:24 In 1884, the English inventor Thomas Parker made the first electric car for mass production.

01:30 Because of the rise of petrol and diesel engines,

01:33 people preferred it more than EVs.

01:35 Fast forward to 2023,

01:37 Electric vehicles are increasing in number and popularity.

01:40 Even though it's still expensive compared to gasoline cars,

01:43 operating and maintenance costs are lower.

01:46 Electric cars have a higher initial cost.

01:48 However, they can actually save you money in the long term.

01:51 They don't have that engine that you need to change oil,

01:54 you need to check every now and then.

01:56 EVs are also more environment-friendly.

01:58 They emit no tailpipe emissions.

02:00 This contributes to improved air quality.

02:03 Is the Philippines ready for more people to be passionate about EVs?

02:07 We still need to work on building a comprehensive charging infrastructure.
