00:00 The team at car rental company Sixt have put together their ranking of the top British
00:06 beaches, taking into account things like water quality, visitor rating, number of cafes,
00:11 car parks and a five minute walking distance to the seafront, whether there's a lifeguard
00:15 and on-site toilet facilities.
00:17 Mablethorpe Town Beach came out on top of the hot spots, Sixt said. Boasting miles of
00:22 golden sand and a blue flag award, the picturesque Mablethorpe Town Beach in Lincolnshire ranks
00:27 top of our list. It's followed by Cromer Beach in Norfolk and then the North East's
00:31 Whitley Bay. Rounding off the top five is Shanklin Beach on the Isle of Wight in fourth
00:35 place and Yorkshire's Philly Beach in fifth. Statistics show around 170 million trips to
00:41 British beaches are made each year, so if you're planning a trip, perhaps consider
00:45 one of these hot spots.
00:47 To make up the rest of the top ten, from sixth place to tenth is Skegness Beach, Perron Sands,
00:52 Exmouth Beach, Seaford Bay and finally Brighton Central Beach. Wherever you're planning to
00:56 make your trip, we hope you have a good one.
