00:17 Now this new luxury dayboat provides all the style
00:21 and performance and function you've come to expect

00:28 You should see the wave this boat kicks up.
00:31 We're gonna tell you all about that
00:33 and all the other good features of this new boat,

00:36 The AV28 performed very well on the lake today.
00:51 It hit speeds approaching 50 miles per hour,
00:54 it cornered great, it handled the chop and boat wakes
00:56 that we ran into with no problem whatsoever.
00:59 Spinning around to pick up a wake surfer,
01:01 no threat of the rollers coming into the boat.
01:03 That was a really nice feature.
01:05 I'll tell ya, it's powered by a 430 horsepower
01:08 Merc Cruiser V8 8.2 liter HO stern drive,
01:13 but it's not a normal stern drive,
01:15 it's the new Bravo 4S.
01:18 What makes the Bravo 4S unique
01:20 is that the propellers are on the front part of the drive.
01:23 That puts the props under the hull of the boat,
01:26 and that makes it safer to participate in water sports
01:29 behind a boat like this one, powered by the Bravo 4S.
01:33 Now, if you have to access the engine for service
01:35 and for your daily checks before you come out,
01:37 it's all color-coded, Merc Cruiser, like you're used to.
01:40 It's great for service.
01:41 The access is excellent, the rigging was very clean.
01:44 Aviara always does a very nice job.
01:46 I could lay my hands easily on the through-hull fittings,
01:49 the seacocks, the batteries, and so forth.
01:52 So we did more than just burn dead dinosaur today.
01:55 We did more than just rip around the lake
01:56 for our own enjoyment.
01:57 We had Dan DeLong, an expert wake surfer, join us.

02:10 on the AV28, surfing and foiling.
02:13 It was a really long, nice, clean wave with plenty of push.
02:17 Really excited for this model.
02:19 What I was blown away by was that there was
02:21 this very nice luxury boat that also had
02:23 a really nice performing surf wave.
02:26 - Well, as Dan told you, and as the video showed,
02:28 the AV28S delivers a high-performing wake surf wake.
02:33 It really does add a new dimension to a luxury day boat.
02:37 Now, let's go back into some of those Aviara features
02:40 that you're used to hearing about.
02:41 Luxury, performance, and construction.
02:44 The AV28S boasts all the style and pizzazz
02:49 that Aviara has shown with its other models.
02:51 For instance, check out the style lines in the hull.
02:54 Dramatic, check out the bow, plumb, straight line.

03:25 deliver an outstanding wake surfing wave,
03:27 and have a standard electric power hardtop
03:30 that serves as a wake surfing tower
03:32 with integrated board storage, guess what?
03:34 This boat has a head, and I found that head
03:37 to be very well done, as I'd expect from an Aviara.
03:40 It's all fiberglass inside, it's got a port light
03:43 that delivers light and ventilation,
03:44 there's an electric light, there's a drain in the bottom
03:47 if you ever have to clean it out.
03:48 It's a really nice amenity to have aboard this boat.
03:51 Hey, one feature we really liked
03:53 about the layout of this boat is the depth in the bow.
03:55 It's 36 inches, I put my tape measure here.
03:57 And why is it so deep compared to other 28 foot boats?
04:00 Comes down to the hull design.
04:01 We have a deep V-hull, and we have a straight bow,
04:04 a plumb bow on the Aviara boat.
04:06 It's a signature design for the boat,
04:08 but it allows them to have a deeper bow section.
04:11 And boy, is it comfortable up here.
04:12 Check out the roominess of the bow, it's not just deep.
04:15 There's room for five or six companions up here,
04:18 or two people to hang out and get cozy.
04:20 It's really deep, the kids are gonna love riding up here,
04:22 and you're gonna be comfortable
04:23 because it's so deep and large.
04:25 Hey, there's one feature that's more than just style.
04:27 The side access to the bow makes for a larger helm console.
04:32 That provides for a larger, deeper head with more headroom,
04:36 because now the head is on center line
04:38 at the middle of the V, the deepest part of the boat.
04:41 The layout's also unique in that it's got
04:43 moving backrests for the seats.
04:45 And they're not just two positions
04:47 like you'll find aboard many boats.
04:48 These are incremental, so you can move them back
04:51 one, two, three, four different notches
04:53 to adjust for different leg sizes or different use
04:56 to accommodate different size guests and different purposes.
04:59 So one of the cool things back here
05:01 in the transom part of the boat, the sun lounge extends.
05:04 But it extends in such a way to make it larger
05:07 and more comfortable for people enjoying the sun lounge,
05:09 but you still retain the functionality of the swim platform.
05:12 Absolute genius.
05:13 The second thing that I like is this seat back,
05:17 like the other seat backs, is padded.
05:20 So if you wanna sit back here and hang out,
05:22 it's comfortable.
05:23 Other transom amenities aboard the AV28 include this switch.
05:27 There's one just like it at the helm,
05:29 and that raises and lowers the electric folding hardtop.
05:32 Additionally, there's a 12-volt outlet,
05:34 so you can inflate and deflate your towables.
05:36 And there's controls for the clip stereo.
05:39 Now that stereo comes standard with eight speakers,
05:41 two of which are here in the transom,
05:43 face aft and are perfect for the sandbar
05:45 or while wake surfing.
05:47 There's also a subwoofer.
05:49 I'm not done with the transom yet.
05:51 There's massive storage that I can access from here.
05:55 There's dedicated fender storage in the walkway.
05:58 There's storage under each and every one
06:00 of the lounge seats throughout the boat.
06:01 And there's a huge storage locker in the sole,
06:03 up by the helm.
06:05 The helm of Aviar's AV28S is like that of a sports car.
06:08 It's clean, it's spare,
06:09 but it's got everything that you need.
06:11 Let's check out some of the amenities.
06:12 We've got graphic icon backlit switches right here.
06:17 We've got a nice cubby here to hold your gear.
06:19 There's a 12-volt inductive phone charger
06:23 located to my right.
06:25 There's a big Simrad display.
06:26 There's a tilt wheel.
06:28 And on the right side of the dash,
06:29 this screen allows control of Aviar's
06:32 proprietary digital switching system.
06:34 You can control most of the functions
06:35 throughout the entire boat simply by hitting a switch.
06:39 Let's talk about this boat.
06:40 1,800 pounds of ballast, two surf tabs, port and starboard.
06:44 Okay, it doesn't have a center tab, but it's got the drive.
06:47 The Bravo 4S drive can be trimmed,
06:49 and that's part of the wake shaping process.
06:53 1,800 pounds of ballast and the deep V-hull,
06:56 which itself displaces a lot more water
07:00 than a flatter bottom boat, like many water sports boats have.
07:04 Okay, now to control all of these various elements,
07:08 you simply hit the wave icon on this screen.
07:10 The water sports menu comes up,
07:12 and it's as simple as one touch on the wake surfing button
07:16 or any of the other water sports buttons.
07:18 Aviar's pro team of wake surfers and wakeboarders
07:21 have optimized the settings.
07:23 One touch, you're wake surfing.
07:25 If you wanna go in and manually override it, you can,
07:29 but what we saw today,
07:30 the preset functions worked really well.
07:32 Our day aboard the AV28S is coming to a close.
07:36 There's so much to talk about aboard this boat.
07:38 For instance, optionally available for the AV28S
07:41 are heated cockpit seats and a cockpit heater.
07:44 Those are great options for extending your season.
07:48 This boat delivers on the merits of being a luxury day boat,
