00:00 (crowd chanting)
00:02 (speaking in foreign language)
00:06 - Instructions from the referee, Christian Delgado.
00:21 As we are set to begin here, this main event, 10 rounds.
00:28 And middleweight.
00:30 Opening bell and we are underway here.
00:35 Main event at the Radisson Victoria Plaza in Montevideo.
00:39 The hometown favorite and crowd favorite,
00:43 Amical Vidal Jr. in the Uruguayan colored trunks.
00:47 The sky blue and white against the Venezuelan
00:50 in black and white there in Domicio Rondon.
00:53 George Dimitelis alongside two division world champion,
00:56 the magic man, Pauli Malignaggi.
00:57 And Pauli, have you ever fought against someone
01:00 who came into the ring with acoustic instruments?
01:05 - Can't say I have, cannot say I have.
01:07 You see Rondon coming out in that southpaw stance here.
01:10 It's gonna be interesting to see
01:11 as he's a little bit on the front foot heavy.
01:13 So you gotta be careful with those clashes of heads.
01:16 And Vidal's gonna have to be careful with those
01:18 because you can see Rondon,
01:19 looks like he leans in a little bit
01:21 when he throws his punches with the head.
01:25 Although for Vidal, smart to use that height
01:28 and you can tell he's using that jab
01:30 and looking to use that height.
01:33 - Amical Vidal Jr.
01:41 El Petty as they call him in Uruguay.
01:43 With the age and the reach and the height advantage
01:49 over Domicio Rondon, the Venezuelan.
01:54 And El Petty has been inactive recently.
01:57 Last time Rondon was in the ring,
01:59 ring, excuse me, was over a year ago, March 18th of 2022.
02:03 With a TKO victory over Jose Rafael Marcano in Venezuela.
02:09 And right now Rondon kind of holding his own against El Petty.
02:20 - Yeah, your quintessential feel-out round so far,
02:22 El Petty's got a high guard there from Rondon.
02:26 Amical trying to establish that height.
02:28 Gonna see where he can get there.
02:30 Rondon trying to be active, trying to be busy.
02:33 Not that much land there, but he's trying to keep
02:36 Vidal a bit busy defensively.
02:40 A little short counter there by Vidal.
02:41 As again, Rondon will lean in at times.
02:44 His body shot there by Rondon.
02:50 (Vidal grunting)
02:51 Body shot of his own.
02:52 Vidal Jr. has overcome a lot in his life there,
02:57 especially when it comes to his boxing career.
03:00 When he was training in Mexico, got injured by,
03:06 no, almost got run over by a truck.
03:09 Suffered a broken pelvis, it broke his left arm.
03:12 Two months in the hospital and then doctors told him
03:15 he would not walk again.
03:16 And now a couple years later, here he is.
03:19 - In a boxing ring once again.
03:21 - Yep.
03:21 Great story there.
03:23 - Nice combination there from Vidal.
03:24 Started with downstairs to the body with both hands.
03:27 Came up with a hook to the head.
03:29 One way to get around that soft push stance of Rondon.
03:31 - Strong first round after the first half
03:34 of that first round, about the first minute and a half.
03:36 Feeling out process.
03:38 Vidal started to find the range there,
03:40 connected on some good shots there on Rondon.
03:42 Good start to the fight there for the Uruguayan.
03:46 The key's the victory for Vidal.
03:47 Come out aggressive, use his height advantage
03:50 and the experience as well for Vidal
03:54 because he's been more active more recently
03:56 compared to Rondon.
03:57 - Yeah, for Rondon, we gotta,
04:01 first of all, we gotta dust off the rust, right?
04:03 - Yeah.
04:04 - He's been inactive, but dust off that rust.
04:07 - Yep.
04:08 - And now forget that timing of Vidal.
04:09 You don't wanna let Vidal get too comfortable
04:12 and start to set you up.
04:13 You gotta close the gap.
04:15 You're a shorter guy, close that gap.
04:17 We saw in the first round, actually,
04:18 it was Vidal that ended up closing the gap.
04:20 Going to the body with a good combination
04:21 at the end of the first round.
04:23 Overall, Rondon wants to close the gap
04:25 and then get to work at that close range.
04:27 - And then something we saw in the first fight,
04:30 or earlier, with the two fights with Rodriguez and Cuello,
04:34 get to those body, if he can get those good body shots,
04:36 I think that will help and go a long way
04:39 and win this fight.
04:39 And Rondon, not the favorite in this fight for sure,
04:43 so he could pull off a huge upset
04:45 as the underdog here against Amilcar Vidal Jr.
04:48 Start of the second round.
04:52 And Vidal in those sky blue and white trunks
04:56 and Rondon in the black and white trunks.
04:59 - See, Rondon gives you the effort.
05:04 His fundamentals aren't great.
05:06 He punches from a little bit all over the place,
05:08 but he puts together a combination, give you the effort.
05:11 And he's trying to keep that smother on Vidal.
05:14 - And I hear from Vidal, Vidal's got here,
05:16 got Rondon against the ropes.
05:17 You got him where you want him.
05:18 Just make sure you punch from the right distance.
05:20 You don't want to be too close
05:21 to where you're smothering yourself,
05:22 but at the same time, you don't want to be too far
05:23 to where you're not getting that leverage on the shots.
05:26 Vidal has to understand that.
05:28 When he does start to close the gap,
05:29 to punch from the right distance.
05:31 - As the bigger fighter,
05:33 when you have a smaller fighter in the ropes,
05:34 you got to do what you can to keep him on the ropes
05:37 so you could punish him.
05:38 And to escape like that too easy
05:39 is not a good sign for Rondon, for Vidal.
05:42 - Well, of course, you know,
05:42 any time you have an opponent on the ropes,
05:44 you want to make sure you get that work
05:45 'cause they have less escape options, less escape routes.
05:48 - Vidal Jr. there.
05:51 Now himself on the ropes there, but...
05:55 - You see the way Rondon, he does a veteran trick there.
05:58 He kind of jumped into range
06:00 and he gave the illusion that he was dangerous.
06:02 And he let, he saw if the inexperienced Vidal
06:04 will just move backwards and give ground on his own.
06:06 And he did, he went back to the ropes.
06:08 And then from there, Rondon was able to throw some punches.
06:10 This is why prospects like Vidal
06:12 are put in with guys like Rondon
06:13 so that you end up starting to learn a little bit,
06:15 you know, and hopefully beat them,
06:17 which you're supposed to.
06:18 - This fight's scheduled for 10 rounds
06:21 in the middleweight division.
06:22 Down there with the right hand.
06:25 Now he's got him pinned on the ropes.
06:28 - This is where Vidal's got to do his best work here.
06:30 Rondon's out of options to escape.
06:32 You're gonna force him to fight.
06:33 Are you gonna create that opening?
06:35 Let's see.
06:35 - Short punch there.
06:39 Ooh, good uppercut.
06:39 - That's the one.
06:42 - And in the corner there,
06:44 a body blow.
06:45 And Vidal keeping him on the ropes here.
06:52 Round two.
06:54 - Yeah, and also, it's physically exhausting.
06:56 I mean, you start to, you get the bigger guy
06:57 who's kind of physically bullying you now.
07:00 It's mentally stressing,
07:01 but it starts to physically exhaust you.
07:03 And that's when Vidal's starting
07:04 to impose himself physically here.
07:05 And of course, when you start to impose yourself physically
07:07 and you don't leave the guy alone,
07:08 you also start to impose yourself mentally.
07:10 - Yeah, and that's a good sequence here from Vidal
07:13 as he's starting to understand what he needs to do
07:15 here at the end of this round.
07:17 - Yeah.
07:17 Amical Vidal, one loss in his amateur career.
07:21 Ooh, double.
07:22 - Three uppercuts in a row.
07:22 - Ooh.
07:23 - That was, you know,
07:24 you don't really just see that too much.
07:25 And also, Rondon's gonna have to start adjusting
07:28 to that uppercut he's seen from Vidal
07:29 because I don't know how many of those
07:31 you're gonna be keeping, being able to keep taking.
07:34 - And a big round for Amical Vidal Jr.,
07:37 especially with those sequence of uppercuts.
07:39 - Yeah, and he's gonna be in about four days' time
07:41 here on Pro Box TV, Wednesday, July 26th.
07:44 Orlando Gonzalez against Ramiro Chesena.
07:46 You can see that live on Pro Box TV, 7 p.m. Eastern,
07:51 5 p.m. Ciudad de Mexico, and 4 p.m. Pacific
07:54 on Pro Box TV, live from Kissimmee Event Center.
07:59 - Seen that round.
08:01 Seen the action in that round.
08:02 That was earlier in the round where actually Rondon
08:05 had Vidal up against the ropes.
08:07 - Yeah, he's been watching Mike Tyson
08:09 with those uppercuts, right?
08:10 Mike Tyson was a vicious uppercut deliverer,
08:14 I'll put it that way.
08:15 And Amical Vidal might have been watching
08:16 some Tyson fights there.
08:18 - Yeah, there were some good uppercuts he delivered
08:20 in that round.
08:22 Good punches in general, as you see some of these replays
08:24 from Amical Vidal.
08:26 - Good round, and so far after two rounds,
08:30 it's been Vidal Jr. that has been in control of this fight.
08:36 - Yeah, like Rondon, though, you see he came out
08:38 and he tried to start at least imposing himself
08:40 on the real estate battle at center ring.
08:41 'Cause you know Vidal at a certain point
08:43 is gonna try to take over the ring
08:45 and put you back on the ropes.
08:45 So as an older veteran, you look to try to steal
08:49 that part of the ring, at least in the early part
08:51 of the round.
08:52 So that makes it a little bit harder
08:53 to wind up back on the ropes,
08:55 if you put the momentum of Vidal to start going backwards
08:58 from the start of the round.
09:00 - And Amical Rondon, the Venezuelan in the black and white
09:04 there, and Amical Vidal Jr. in the blue and white.
09:09 Vidal Jr. trained by his brother Richard.
09:15 Now body blow there.
09:21 - You see now once again, Rondon Ronda back on the ropes.
09:24 Let's see if Vidal picks up where he left off
09:26 at the end of the last round.
09:28 And you've got Rondon back.
09:29 Are you gonna physically stress him?
09:30 Are you gonna keep him mentally stressed?
09:33 - I'm not gonna stress him.
09:34 I'm gonna keep him mentally stressed
09:36 and physically working.
09:37 - You have to say Rondon is a tough competitor for sure.
09:42 He's taken some hard shots, but still on his feet there.
09:44 And that's one thing about Pro Box TV.
09:47 You get some tough fighters there that take the punishment,
09:50 but they keep on going.
09:51 - You see that's the thing here.
09:54 You know, Vidal, he presents a presence
09:57 in front of you constantly.
09:58 So even if you're not working every second of here,
10:01 you feel like you can't get him off.
10:03 Vidal's not giving ground.
10:04 So he's keeping you there.
10:05 You can't get him off you.
10:06 And so it's mentally draining to just not be able
10:10 to feel free at least for a few couple of seconds at a time.
10:13 See, boy, you looked like break free.
10:15 Vidal puts you right back on the ropes.
10:17 Now Rondon's trying to punch his way to freedom,
10:18 but Vidal is not giving it to him,
10:20 keeping him on the ropes, keeping him working.
10:23 Not everything's landing clean,
10:24 but some of them are landing clean
10:25 and whatever's not landing clean is still stressful
10:27 for the fact that Vidal will not leave you alone.
10:29 - One thing I'm noticing,
10:31 Vidal's guard is very tight there,
10:34 high and tight to his face there.
10:35 It's making it difficult for Rondon
10:37 to get those punches through.
10:39 So less than a minute here in the third round.
10:43 - Vidal's looking for that uppercut.
10:44 He got a block there,
10:45 but he's going back to try to look for that uppercut.
10:46 Let's see if we end up seeing it.
10:48 He had very good success with it in the last round.
10:51 - Rondon in a little bit of trouble there
10:54 as Vidal trying to keep him in the corner.
10:56 Some hard shots with the right.
10:57 Breaking through with the left
11:00 and trying to get Rondon to get in.
11:03 - I think Vidal would even be best
11:05 to take about a half step back
11:08 to really get more leverage on the shots.
11:09 Some of these shots,
11:10 he's not getting full leverage on them
11:11 because he's a little too close.
11:14 I think if he's about a half step back,
11:15 he's probably be able to leverage those shots a bit better
11:18 on Rondon who's on the ropes and getting trapped.
11:21 - He got good movement there and then a body shot there.
11:28 Left hand coming in.
11:30 - This round and another round for Vidal Jr.
11:35 Don't forget 2023, Pro Box TV, your boxing channel,
11:38 the home for the best in live fights.
11:41 Wednesday, July 26th from Kissimmee, Florida,
11:43 and then two in August on the 9th from Plan City
11:47 and the 23rd back in Kissimmee.
11:48 And then September 6th, another one in Kissimmee, Florida
11:53 is that Orlando area, Tampa area,
11:57 the eye for rivalry benefiting Pro Box TV
12:00 as we take a look at some fantastic action
12:03 from round three here in this matchup
12:05 between Vidal and Rondon.
12:08 In the sense, you feel like maybe Vidal can turn it up
12:18 an extra notch here, an extra level here,
12:20 but maybe still--
12:22 - I think he's working his way to there.
12:23 - Okay.
12:24 - 'Cause Rondon is, you know, he's still got a guard
12:26 that is a little bit reactive,
12:28 but I think he's starting to get Rondon on the ropes
12:30 more and more consistently each round.
12:32 Starting to break him down.
12:33 Let's see if in the third round,
12:35 if he starts a little bit faster here.
12:36 The last for two minutes,
12:37 he had Rondon on the ropes last round.
12:38 So let's see if he starts to impose himself
12:40 a little bit more.
12:41 As you can see, Rondon right away tries to get Vidal
12:43 to start going backwards from the beginning of the round,
12:46 typically once again, so that hopefully for Rondon,
12:49 Vidal doesn't get started as quickly.
12:50 - And now Rondon giving Vidal a little taste
12:53 of his own medicine by having him in the corner
12:56 for a few seconds.
12:58 And Rondon has been a little more aggressive here
13:02 to start this fourth round.
13:03 Calvidal Jr.
13:09 Kind of weathering the storm early on here
13:16 in this fourth round.
13:18 In this main event here in Montevideo.
13:23 Certainly has been an exciting fight card.
13:27 Started with a couple of ladies imposing their will
13:32 with Elizabeth Cabrera winning a unanimous decision
13:36 over Laura Carabajal.
13:37 (crowd cheering)
13:40 - And now Vidal.
13:56 - Rondon has done a good job of staying off the ropes
14:03 this round a little bit better.
14:05 Take a couple of good shots there from Vidal,
14:07 but he's not going to be able to do it.
14:09 Rondon, again, this is the veteran in Rondon, you know?
14:14 Not so much that he's going to win the fight,
14:15 but here again, he's physically trying to manage
14:19 the real estate battle.
14:20 Because he knows if he winds up on the ropes against Vidal,
14:23 Vidal is going to be a guy who's going to stress him.
14:25 - And it certainly has been impressive
14:28 how Rondon has stayed away from the ropes,
14:30 and even at times pinned Vidal Jr. on the ropes.
14:34 (crowd cheering)
14:36 - Vidal's one of those guys, you know,
14:37 physically he's imposing, he's,
14:39 you like what you see as far as the physical stature
14:42 that he brings into the ring, but it's almost,
14:44 sometimes it looks as if he doesn't know
14:46 exactly what he's working with, you know?
14:48 That he, there's actually more that he could do
14:51 in terms of, you know, various options he'd give himself
14:55 in the ring during the rounds,
14:58 based on the fact that, you know,
14:59 he has this imposing figure.
15:00 But, you know, let's see if he starts to pick it up
15:02 as he goes along.
15:04 A little bit disappointed here this round
15:05 that he let Rondon get back in.
15:07 Again, you're the prospect, and you know,
15:09 you were starting to really impose yourself physically
15:11 in the previous two rounds.
15:12 But now he's turning southpaw, he's going backwards.
15:15 You know, let's see where this goes from here.
15:17 - Interesting move there to try and kind of
15:22 change up the angles, and you wonder if in this round
15:26 he's going through the motions here
15:27 just to kind of get the work in.
15:29 - Yeah.
15:32 - Rondon is a southpaw, maybe he figured,
15:34 you know what, let me turn southpaw.
15:35 I really don't understand why he went away
15:37 from the pressure.
15:38 The pressure was where he was having the success.
15:41 - August 9th, Wednesday Night Fights,
15:43 Pro Box Event Center, Plant City, Florida.
15:45 Otar Heriano-Cian against Roger Gutierrez.
15:49 That should be a fascinating fight.
15:51 WBA World Super Featherweight Title Eliminator
15:54 live here on Pro Box TV.
15:57 What a great fight that is going to be.
16:00 By all accounts, Heriano-Cian, very entertaining fighter,
16:04 so should give Roger Gutierrez a big challenge.
16:07 The Venezuelan on Pro Box TV is some of the best action
16:11 here in this fourth round, and it was Rondon
16:13 who was the aggressor here in this round,
16:15 which is a bit of a surprise compared to what
16:18 Vidal Jr. had established in the three previous rounds.
16:21 So, a bit of a test here as a veteran.
16:25 Domicilio Rondon, 40 years of age, 22 pro fights.
16:29 Giving a test here to Amilcar Vidal Jr.
16:32 Round number five here in Montevideo.
16:36 George Dimitelis alongside the Magic Man,
16:39 Pauly Malignaggi, and what has been an eventful fight card
16:43 here in Uruguay in collaboration
16:46 with Samsung Boxing and Deo Box.
16:49 - Shot there by Rondon.
16:52 I don't know where, out of nowhere in this fight,
16:55 Vidal decided that he's gonna be a counter puncher.
16:59 He's not a very good counter puncher,
17:00 and he gives Rondon opportunities whenever he allows himself
17:03 to be put on the back foot.
17:04 For the physical size that Vidal has,
17:08 he's better on the front foot.
17:09 He's better coming forward, putting pressure,
17:11 even fighting at the closer range
17:12 than you would anticipate from a tall guy.
17:14 You have seen some of these South American guys
17:16 like Fondura, they're more, like Sebastian Fondura,
17:18 who is more effective on the inside
17:19 than he is on the outside, despite his height.
17:21 Vidal strikes me as one of those kind of guys as well.
17:27 - Vidal, Vidal starting to,
17:30 maybe it looks like he's slowing down a little bit.
17:34 Is he just trying to get to working with the rounds,
17:36 knowing that he might win this fight?
17:38 He's not really been threatened?
17:40 Or is it just Rondon improving the last couple of rounds?
17:45 - No, I mean, Rondon is a, you can tell,
17:47 he's got experience.
17:48 He knows he's not the best fighter,
17:50 but he knows how to trouble you.
17:52 He knows how to test things out to see how you'll react,
17:55 and maybe if you don't react the right way,
17:57 he'll try to take charge of the fight.
17:58 So he's been putting out little fish hooks out there,
18:02 little feelers out there to see if Vidal will cooperate.
18:05 And at times, in the last couple of rounds,
18:06 Vidal has been cooperating.
18:08 'Cause now he's a little spin move
18:09 and he pushes Rondon back.
18:11 But look, he backs up himself.
18:12 - So if he pushes him on the ropes like that,
18:16 then you gotta go forward and attack there?
18:18 Or is it--
18:19 - I think, you know, based on,
18:20 especially based on the fact that Vidal,
18:23 his boxing backwards is non-existent.
18:25 I don't know why he's going backwards.
18:26 - Right.
18:27 - When he's coming forward,
18:28 he's been effective in this fight.
18:29 I think the parts he's been effective in this fight
18:31 are when he's been forward,
18:32 when he's put Rondon up on the back foot like this
18:35 on the ropes and then kind of gone to work
18:37 and physically imposed himself.
18:39 He's that kind of fighter.
18:40 - Yeah, and he's gotta be that junior part
18:41 of a fighting family.
18:43 Father and grandfather were pro boxers.
18:47 And his two older brothers fought,
18:49 were pro boxers as well.
18:51 So it's in his blood.
18:54 - He's looking to be a world champion,
18:55 but he's got to be a little more aggressive here
18:59 in this fight.
19:00 There's a good uppercut.
19:01 - Yeah, this one with the left hand.
19:02 Earlier in the fight, he was having some success
19:04 with the right hand uppercut.
19:04 That one, nice little short left-handed uppercut.
19:07 Now with the right one.
19:09 There it is again.
19:10 And here, let's see if he's able to follow up
19:12 on this elbow he just landed.
19:14 - He's kind of got away from those uppercuts
19:17 in the last two rounds.
19:18 - Oh, they've gotta be on the front foot
19:20 and be close to throw them.
19:21 He hasn't been doing that.
19:23 Now he's getting back on that front foot
19:24 as those shots have probably made him gain some confidence.
19:27 - So end of round five here
19:31 between Amical Vidal Jr. and Domicio Rondon
19:34 in what has been quite a little bit of a change here
19:39 as Rondon looking a little bit better last rounds,
19:42 but those uppercuts in this fifth round
19:45 landing for Amical Vidal Jr.
19:47 is take a look once again at our keys to victory
19:50 for Vidal.
19:51 - He's been able to come out aggressive,
19:52 use the height advantage in his experience.
19:54 Has that worked for Vidal in these first five rounds?
19:59 - I think when he's been aggressive, he's done well.
20:01 Height advantage, to what degree?
20:06 To me, I think he's actually better at being on the inside.
20:09 So using that uppercut against a shorter guy
20:11 is something that really works.
20:13 I think he's done a good job of that as well.
20:16 I don't know.
20:19 I think if you were using your experience,
20:23 I think you'd probably figure out a better way
20:26 to be more consistent with that pressure.
20:28 - And the dust and the timing and closing the gap,
20:31 I think Rondon has closed the gap.
20:33 I don't know about the first two keys for Rondon.
20:35 Maybe that will develop as we get into the second half
20:38 of this 10 round bout and the middleweight division
20:40 between Amical Vidal Jr. and El Petty, as they call him,
20:43 against Domicio Rondon of Kumano, Venezuela.
20:47 Sixth round here in Montevideo.
20:51 Amical Vidal Jr. 16 and one, 12 knockouts
20:54 in the sky blue and white trunks.
20:56 And Domicio Rondon, 17 and five with 11 knockouts
21:00 in the black and white trunks.
21:02 And first three rounds went to Vidal.
21:06 Next two were close.
21:07 Maybe Vidal slightly or Rondon slightly.
21:09 So we'll see what happens in the next round here
21:12 as the truth goes the distance.
21:17 - I think Rondon maybe won one of the last two rounds.
21:20 I think Vidal, I mean, Rondon maybe won one
21:23 of the last two rounds. - Yeah, let's think of that.
21:24 - But I think Vidal's comfortably ahead in the fight.
21:27 I don't think it's a matter of is he gonna lose the fight.
21:29 I think Rondon has the body language of an opponent.
21:32 He himself knows he doesn't wanna win this kind of fight,
21:34 but it's a matter of Vidal, what kind of impression
21:37 are you looking to make?
21:38 I mean, you got an opponent in front of you
21:40 who's not fought in over a year.
21:43 You don't wanna look average, but you're looking average.
21:45 So what are you gonna do?
21:46 - And that's the thing.
21:48 Knows he's probably, I mean, it might be in control
21:53 on the scorecards there.
21:56 So using this, does he maybe use this kind of fight
21:59 to try new things or does he just,
22:02 does he just gotta go out there, win the fight,
22:05 and then try the new things in training?
22:08 - I don't know, man.
22:09 - That's a tough, I know that's kind of a weird question.
22:11 - I don't know what new things he's trying.
22:13 - Yeah. - He's not actually doing,
22:15 when he's on the back foot, he's not doing anything.
22:17 So it's not like he's willingly going on the back foot.
22:18 He's too willing to accept Rondon
22:22 putting him on the back foot though, from my liking.
22:24 But then when he's on the back foot,
22:25 he's not actually doing anything.
22:26 He doesn't know how to fight on the back foot.
22:27 So when he's on the front foot,
22:28 he gets his hands moving like this,
22:30 he imposes himself physically, and he stresses Rondon.
22:32 But he just, for me, he could be more consistent
22:35 doing this and dominate this kind of a fight
22:38 in this kind of opponent.
22:39 - And he has a good knockout record,
22:41 16 victories, 12 by knockout.
22:43 So-- - Yeah, but that could also
22:45 speak more to the level of opposition
22:47 you fought than anything else.
22:48 - I get the sense that Vidal maybe,
22:53 maybe just a little too much respect for Rondon could do,
22:59 so he doesn't wanna risk it.
23:01 I don't know. - Maybe the fact
23:02 that Rondon is a southpaw,
23:03 and you don't always see southpaws,
23:05 could be that as well.
23:06 - Rondon, you have to give him credit there.
23:11 He certainly has been trying to hit Vidal
23:14 with some big shots here.
23:16 And his last 10 seconds,
23:21 indicated by the referee, Christian Delgado.
23:23 And he's got him on the ropes,
23:28 good flurry there to end the round,
23:30 and maybe that was enough to give him
23:33 the victory in the judges' eyes in that round.
23:38 - Pro Box TV, your boxing channel.
23:42 And great card in Kissimmee, or Kissimmee.
23:48 They have both accents there.
23:51 Kissimmee Event Center, Greater Orlando area
23:56 with a great fight card that's coming up
23:58 Wednesday, July 26th, main event.
24:00 The Puerto Rican Orlando Capu Gonzalez
24:02 against the Mexican Ramiro Demon.
24:04 Just saying, as we look at some good action there
24:07 from that last round.
24:09 Or Vidal.
24:11 Appears to be in control of this fight,
24:15 but I think the fans here were expecting
24:19 a little more domination, a little more
24:21 of an impressive showing, their more aggression
24:24 from Vidal Jr., but still we have a couple of rounds left,
24:27 so that could come out, and especially the way
24:30 he came out with the percussion instruments
24:32 and the beautiful lady dancing,
24:36 they were expecting a little more action here.
24:39 Start of round number seven, and this 10 round bout
24:45 scheduled for 10 rounds.
24:46 And the three previous fights all ended
24:52 before they were scheduled to.
24:54 With Walter Cordova taking down Joel Cano.
24:59 Seventh round technical knockout at Walter Weight.
25:01 Victor Rodriguez, fourth round technical knockout
25:04 over Eduardo Cordova and Mirko Cuello.
25:07 Very impressive first round knockout, TKO
25:10 of Antonio Guzman, two minutes and three seconds
25:13 into the first round.
25:15 And then the main event here, seventh round.
25:20 - Again, Vidal can't figure out if he's gonna fight
25:25 his left ear or right, he's back in the southpaw stance
25:27 here against the southpaw Rondon.
25:29 - Switching it up there.
25:33 - He's putting those, from the southpaw, the orthodox,
25:36 putting those dance moves like the lady was doing
25:39 when she came to the ring there.
25:42 - Yeah, the way he's fighting, I think I'd rather
25:45 watch her than him.
25:45 - Yeah, I think so.
25:46 That was impressive, the way the percussions
25:51 were moving and everything, for sure.
25:53 I think some of the fans are thinking,
25:56 yeah, bring the whole crew back.
25:57 - You see again, allowing himself to be backed up
25:59 to the ropes by Rondon.
26:00 Now he's trying to impose pressure again,
26:02 but it lets Rondon off the hook too easily,
26:05 again, for my liking.
26:06 Yeah, and the thing is, he doesn't have an opponent
26:09 in front of him good enough to beat him,
26:11 which is why he should be taking more advantage
26:15 of the advantages that he could create for himself.
26:17 He does it in spots like right here.
26:20 He's gotta take advantage of this right here.
26:22 - Here we go, Rondon a little wobbly here
26:25 in the seventh round, and that certainly gets a rise
26:28 out of the crowd here in Montevideo now.
26:30 But four straight uppercuts.
26:32 Rondon pinned on the ropes.
26:34 - I mean, for me, what I'm looking for here
26:37 is the consistency from Vidal.
26:38 Is he gonna keep the stress on Rondon consistent here,
26:41 or is he gonna let him off the hook?
26:43 - 45 seconds left.
26:47 It looks like he just might let him off the hook here.
26:50 - Well, I don't know what I mean by let him off the hook
26:51 and let him survive.
26:52 I mean, Rondon can survive for all I care.
26:54 What I'm saying is Vidal has to show the consistency
26:57 in the kind of work he's doing here.
26:58 He's gotta understand that this is what he needs to do
27:00 and it's gotta be consistent.
27:01 And then if he gets him out of there, great.
27:03 That team looks even better for him.
27:04 If not, this is the kind of fight you gotta fight
27:07 in order if you wanna dominate this guy.
27:08 And you're supposed to dominate this guy.
27:10 So this is the kind of fight that needs to be fought
27:13 for the rest of the night.
27:15 - And those consecutive uppercuts there,
27:17 about two or three, and then the right hand
27:19 when Rondon was coming off the ropes.
27:21 There's the flurry of punches there.
27:24 - He smothers himself there.
27:26 Again, I said a few rounds ago, at times,
27:28 just a little too close, a little half step back
27:31 to get that leverage on those shots.
27:33 The fact that he doesn't understand
27:35 certain simple concepts like that
27:36 leads me to believe maybe he didn't have
27:38 a long amateur career either.
27:39 But then again, he comes from a boxing family.
27:41 - Right.
27:41 - So, which kind of makes that inexcusable.
27:44 Not understanding your range.
27:46 - Seventh round there and Vidal and Rondon.
27:50 But what we saw in the seventh round here
27:54 is I think what most people expected
27:56 or wanted to see from him maybe in the third
27:58 or fourth round there with the flurry of punches,
28:00 the uppercuts, and really starting to threaten Rondon.
28:03 - Yeah, and earlier at that part of the fight,
28:04 he actually was doing it, but then he just went away
28:07 from it for no specific reason.
28:10 Went back to it here again.
28:13 So, this is the consistency.
28:14 Let's see now if he comes out in the next round
28:16 and starts to impose himself physically
28:19 and stress Rondon from the start, backing him up.
28:21 'Cause Rondon doesn't really need a lot of pressure
28:23 to get backed up to the ropes.
28:24 He just gotta do it and he'll wind up on the ropes himself.
28:27 But you also can't let Rondon give you the illusion
28:31 that he's gonna stress you
28:32 and then you put yourself back on the ropes.
28:33 And instead, then you get the stoppage.
28:35 This is what I mean.
28:36 You got an opponent.
28:37 He's just an opponent.
28:38 You're gonna stop him
28:39 if you just raise the ante a little bit.
28:41 And just that stress that he imposed on Rondon
28:43 in that last round made Rondon quit in the corner.
28:45 This could have happened much earlier for Vidal,
28:48 but he wasn't doing it.
28:50 He was, I don't wanna say playing with his food
28:52 'cause I don't know that he's good enough
28:53 to play with anything in the ring.
28:55 But at the same time,
28:57 he also wasn't recognizing the advantages that he had.
29:00 When he finally took advantage a little bit,
29:02 Rondon took the first door out.
29:04 - Yeah, and I think it was finally those uppercuts
29:08 that those just multiple uppercuts maybe just got to him.
29:10 - The stress, the physicality of the fight.
29:13 Again, if you just keep it consistent, good things happen.
29:16 If you consistently do what you're good at.
29:19 - So now Vidal gets an impressive victory here
29:22 as Domicilio Rondon and his crew in the corner
29:27 stop the fight.
29:29 He's still sitting on his stool there.
29:32 And we will get the official decision
29:34 from the ring announcer Ruben Peralta.
29:36 So this was a result for Vidal.
29:39 It looks good on the record 'cause he got the knockout,
29:41 he got the stoppage,
29:42 but maybe not as impressive as a lot of people
29:46 were thinking or hoping.
29:47 So what does this do kind of his chances for a big fight?
29:51 Does he still have to,
29:52 does he need a couple more fights
29:54 to win in an impressive fashion
29:55 that he finally get the big fight again or?
29:58 For Vidal.
29:58 - Yeah, I mean, I think Vidal is probably
30:01 gonna need these kind of opponents a little bit more
30:04 to try to work on things and look better.
30:06 You gotta look better against this level of opponent
30:09 if you're gonna sort of make a demand
30:12 for the higher level of competition.
30:14 'Cause networks need to buy you,
30:15 networks need to be impressed by you
30:17 so that you can get into there.
30:18 And this wasn't impressive enough in my opinion.
30:20 - Yeah, I agree with you there.
30:21 I think he needed to show more,
30:23 especially after he got off to his good start
30:26 in those first few rounds.
30:27 And well, in the Wednesday night fights,
30:30 this is gonna be a good one.
