New Volkswagen ID.3 Facts

00:01 Since its launch in 2020,
00:03 the ID.3 paved the way for electrification
00:05 across the whole Volkswagen group.
00:07 I'm really excited today to have the new model
00:09 alongside the outgoing one
00:11 so that we can look at all the key features and updates
00:13 that I've come across with this new model.
00:16 Let's start in the external styling of this new vehicle.
00:19 The bonnet looks a little bit longer.
00:20 It's actually not.
00:21 What we've done is removed the black styling element
00:23 that was previously here,
00:24 which gave it a very cap forward look.
00:26 Now it looks longer and you can see here,
00:28 these new indents lend an even more sporty appearance,
00:31 but it doesn't stop there.
00:32 As you move down and look here,
00:33 you can see these new air intakes.
00:35 It will create some air curtain effects
00:37 for improved aerodynamics.
00:39 And this element here has more of a pronounced smile.
00:42 That's quite a Volkswagen trait,
00:43 going right back to the Beetle
00:45 and it lends a friendly look to the car.
00:47 Now let's move to the styling at the side of the car,
00:49 the profile.
00:50 Now there wasn't much wrong with the ID.3
00:51 to begin with on the side.
00:53 In fact, it's very attractive and that continues.
00:55 It's accentuated here by this metallic strip
00:57 that runs alongside the top of the profile,
00:59 but it's cleaner now.
01:00 Whereas on some of the earlier models,
01:02 we had decals here on the C pillar,
01:04 and we also had badging above the front wheel arch,
01:05 they're now being removed
01:06 to give a much cleaner, purer profile appearance.
01:10 Now let's move to the rear of the new ID.3
01:12 and you'd be forgiven for thinking that nothing's changed.
01:15 It has, and it's a very small,
01:17 but very significant detail change.
01:18 And that is this strip here,
01:20 which previously was a reflector only,
01:23 but now it's fully illuminated.
01:25 And it's joined, of course, by the signature X symbol
01:28 that was so famous on the original model.
01:30 Inside the new ID.3,
01:32 all those hallmarks of the original model,
01:34 such as the clean design
01:35 and huge amounts of interior space are left intact.
01:37 But there's a significant uplift in interior quality
01:40 and a perception of that.
01:41 So here, where you rest your arm,
01:43 it's a much softer feeling foam
01:44 and it's this new Art Velours Eco material,
01:47 which is echoed in the seat covers
01:48 and it's made from 71% recycled plastic materials.
01:52 Now looking here on the dashboard,
01:53 this material here as well,
01:54 it feels much higher quality.
01:56 It features now stitching
01:57 and the ID.3 badge in these redesigned air vents.
02:00 On the technology front,
02:01 obviously the ID.3 also leads.
02:03 And here, the 10-inch screen, which is high resolution,
02:06 an improved, more intuitive menu system.
02:09 Other highlights include optional
02:10 augmented reality head-up display,
02:12 Park Assist Plus,
02:13 and the option in future of bidirectional charging
02:16 to allow you to put energy back into your home
02:18 if you have that capability.
02:19 So there you have it, the new Volkswagen ID.3.
02:22 Available in two battery sizes,
02:23 the Pro and the Pro S.
02:25 With three things really to highlight.
02:27 The new exterior design,
02:28 which is sharper and more dynamic.
02:30 Inside, there's a significant uplift in interior quality
02:33 and even more sustainability.
02:34 And technology, bigger focus on innovation
02:37 than ever before.
