00:00 I would like to ask your reaction, sir, on the worries of educators and students being
00:05 dependent on the use of ChatGPT.
00:08 I think the biggest issue is they're going to be using ChatGPT in their careers later
00:11 on.
00:12 It's the AI Pandora's box is open.
00:16 And so I think it's less of a worry about being dependent and more teaching ethical
00:20 usage, right?
00:21 We need to teach them when it's appropriate to use AI, how it can benefit their efforts,
00:26 but not to use it as a crutch or use it as a replacement for achieving the skills that
00:31 they need.
00:32 And so I think the biggest issue, we talked a little bit about my presentation earlier,
00:36 is creating ethical use guidelines for students and communicating those clearly to students,
00:41 training educators so that they're using AI in the classroom in constructive ways and
00:46 team modeling good behavior for that.
00:48 And so I think just as we've all become dependent on technology like our phones and that kind
00:53 of stuff, we will be dependent on AI in the future.
00:56 It's just how do we make that a positive aspect and constructive for students.
01:02 And what is your reaction on the issues that artificial intelligence might replace the
01:08 traditional learning and teaching method?
01:12 I don't think just as we've seen kind of revolutionary tools like the calculator and the internet,
01:19 none of those have replaced educators.
01:22 We carry around smartphones that have access to all the world's knowledge really in our
01:27 pockets.
01:28 That still hasn't replaced educators.
01:30 Educators are guides to learning, helping us understand those pathways to learning.
01:35 And I think AI allows them to scale and provide a more personalized experience.
01:40 They amplify the power of teachers, not replace.
01:42 And I think that goes whether you're a librarian, whether you're an educator, a teacher at every
01:47 level.
01:48 I think adopting the AI tools productively really amplifies your experience rather than
01:54 being detrimental.
01:55 I really don't think we ever see a world where educators won't be, teachers won't be at the
01:59 center of that learning experience.
