00:02 - There's times I didn't feel like many things were positive.
00:12 My name's Steven Simmons and I'm Burma's cat dad.
00:16 Burma was there through the tough times as well,
00:23 just like puppies.
00:28 A puppy I found on a mountaintop in 2004
00:31 and the only time I've been away from her
00:32 was during my time in Iraq.
00:34 She's been through the hardest times with me.
00:44 She's been with Burma from the start as well.
00:47 So I met Burma four years ago
00:51 when his homeless girls came up with a box of kittens.
00:54 I knew the second she handed them to me
00:57 that I was gonna keep them.
00:58 It was absolutely irresistible.
01:00 Adventure cat.
01:03 Where do we go, Burma?
01:06 He doesn't like being held.
01:08 He's got his own way of affection
01:09 and it doesn't include being held.
01:11 (cat meows)
01:12 (laughs)
01:15 He doesn't want to just lay around and do nothing.
01:17 He wants to be active.
01:18 He wants to be on the go.
01:20 He needs stimulation.
01:21 (upbeat music)
01:23 Animals can take a little bit of loneliness
01:31 away from you and companionship
01:34 that you might not otherwise have.
01:36 That's the thing about puppy,
01:37 she doesn't ask where we're going.
01:39 She doesn't care if she's cold.
01:41 She's just happy to be with me.
01:42 It's true unconditional love, the way it should be.
01:50 They're absolutely my best friends,
01:53 my brother, my sister, family.
01:55 And I wouldn't know what to do without them.
