00:00 Hello, my name is Patrick Mulledy and I'm the manager of Pittsburgh Adventure Playground.
00:06 As we draw towards the end of the summer holidays and the night's closing, I think it's important
00:12 that we don't forget about all the thousands of children who have been running around having
00:16 a fantastic time playing on adventure playgrounds, in parks, in communities, and I think that
00:22 it's more important than ever that we really keep children activated and engaged.
00:28 Play is often forgotten when the children return to school in September and everyone
00:32 starts to focus on the curriculum, but I think it's vital that we start to look at children's
00:39 health and wellbeing in terms of their physical activities and their mental health as we go
00:46 forward this winter.
00:50 After the Covid years, it's never been more important for children to get outside, get
00:53 some fresh air and play, participating with their friends, their families and having a
00:59 great time.
01:00 So I urge people from across Yorkshire and wider afield to think carefully about play
01:06 and what we offer and the legacy about what future generations will think about the way
01:11 we've been treating our children.
01:14 So I hope you're all having a wonderful end to the summer and please give some regard
01:19 to how we progress in the winter.
