00:00 Bloopers are always fun, and even though sometimes we as a human race take our own fingers of
00:04 power and laugh at people, if you laugh with them instead, you will feel all warm and fuzzy
00:10 in your dum-dum.
00:11 This is especially true when it comes to professional wrestling, so today here at What Culture Hammer
00:14 my name is Simon Miller and we are going to look at 8 wrestling bloopers you absolutely
00:19 have to see, mostly because like I've already said, they will entertain you.
00:24 So hit that subscribe button and let's go.
00:30 8.
00:32 Kamala & Mean Gene Oakland
00:33 Now the less said about the Kamala character in the modern day the better, but if you don't
00:37 know, he was meant to be from Uganda and he didn't speak a word of English.
00:42 So halfway through an interview when Mean Gene decides to have a little bit of fun with
00:45 him, well it's just a little bit entertaining.
00:47 Because for all you see, Kamala had missed a bunch of interviews in St Louis, so Oakland
00:52 basically said to him, "well what happened there pal, you were meant to be there and
00:56 you never showed up" and after Kamala goes "well I don't speak any English as you already
01:00 know, but also I was doing some flubbing" and he doesn't use the word flub, but use
01:06 your imagination, that's right he was talking about sex.
01:09 The best part of all of this though is that Mean Gene is laughing and Kamala is laughing
01:12 and Kamala manages Friday is laughing and they're all just having a good time and seeing
01:17 these three in this environment do it, well it just made me feel pleased about life.
01:22 Number 7, We're Live Pal.
01:23 This one is so good, because when Sid Justice was doing an interview with Jim Ross during
01:28 the first ever WWF In Your House, he stopped halfway through and he says to JR, "can we
01:35 start again?" to which Jim Ross replies, "no, we're live pal" and then Sid looks at the
01:42 camera like he's a deer in the headlights.
01:44 So this one is a classic, but on the off chance you haven't seen it, make sure you do it today.
01:49 Sid was known for doing stuff like this, but there's just something about his face and
01:53 his mannerisms that makes it even funnier if anyone else had done it.
01:57 Also how the hell did he not know this was live?
01:59 Surely somebody told him, "oh by the way Mr. Justice, this is beaming right out there right
02:03 now" but he still didn't care, and this is why I love Sid and why he is the ruler of
02:08 the world, but also why he should be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
02:12 Number 6, Mean Gene Again.
02:13 This is another one that lots of people have seen, but back at Summerslam 1989 when Mean
02:17 Gene Oakland was interviewing Ravishing Rick Rude and Bobby Heenan, the Summerslam sign
02:22 in the background just falls to the floor, which is when Mean Gene goes "f*** it" and
02:28 he just walks off.
02:29 He also then asks who the hell put that up, and the reason this is so good is that Oakland
02:34 never lost his cool, at least not on camera, so getting to see behind the scenes and watching
02:39 him melting down is just so good.
02:41 You can tell that he is genuinely frustrated by this as well, which does make it a little
02:45 bit more amusing.
02:46 And also, I swear in the modern day, we need to find more Mean Gene type characters.
02:52 He smashed it in that sub.
02:53 Something else you should definitely do today as well is just go and watch as many Mean
02:57 Gene Oakland clips as you possibly can.
02:59 I know I've said it once, but I'll say it twice, that guy was a legend.
03:03 Number 5, What The Flub Are You Doing?
03:05 Back in January 1996, everybody knew that Brian Pillman had embraced this loose cannon
03:10 persona to the point even the other wrestlers were like, what the hell is he doing?
03:15 So when he was taking on Eddie Guerrero and he got too close to Bobby "The Brain" Heenan,
03:19 who was terrified about re-injuring his neck, The Brain absolutely goes ballistic and shouts
03:25 out live into a microphone, "What the flub are you doing?"
03:30 I totally understand this, because again, everybody was like Pillman is out of his mind,
03:34 so Bobby actually thought that he may get hurt.
03:37 And it wouldn't surprise me if Pillman did this on purpose, so when he actually got an
03:41 F-bomb going out on live TV, I can imagine when he was alone later that evening he just
03:46 sat back and thought to himself, man I've done it.
03:49 Number 4, It's The Superdome.
03:51 We all remember this one back at WrestleMania 30, because the show of shows opened with
03:55 Hulk Hogan, The Rock and Steve Austin coming out and going, hey ho, we have been the cornerstones
03:59 of this company, aren't we all great.
04:02 Now as we know Hogan ain't that great anymore, and he really screwed up here, because he
04:06 travelled back all the way to WrestleMania 3 and welcomed everybody to the Silverdome,
04:12 even though they were at the Superdome.
04:14 This is an easy mistake to make, especially because I imagine over the years Hogan has
04:17 been asked about that match over and over again.
04:21 But you can't do this in front of thousands and thousands of people in a wrestling crowd.
04:25 Everybody started to laugh, when Austin was out there he insulted him, The Rock did the
04:28 same and actually all of this was quite funny.
04:31 Hulk eventually would apologise for this, something he should probably do with other
04:36 things he may have said.
04:38 Number 3, Randy Orton asks What's My Line.
04:40 Randy Orton is just the best, mostly because he doesn't give a flub.
04:44 He understands his place in the company, he understands his worth and he's basically going
04:48 to do whatever the hell he wants to do.
04:49 So back in 2013 at the start of Monday Night Raw when he was sharing an in-ring segment
04:53 with Sheamus, the Irishman did all his verbiage when it was time for Randy to respond, but
04:59 instead he took the mic away from his mouth and said to Sheamus, or Miles DeWars, "What's
05:05 My Line?"
05:06 And he doesn't try to hide this from the camera, he just does it, because again, Randy Orton.
05:11 And I quite like this, because even though Orton was a 10 year veteran at this point,
05:14 it just goes to show, it doesn't matter how good you are, it doesn't matter how experienced
05:18 you are, everybody can make mistakes.
05:21 And really in the moment you should do stuff like this, because it made me like Randy Orton
05:25 more than I already had because it humanised him.
05:29 2.
05:30 The SummerFest
05:31 Do you know my favourite use of the word SummerSlam?
05:32 It's when Bret Hart would talk about the event and he would call it THE SummerSlam.
05:36 In fact if you are a wrestler in 2022 I advise you still this, it's just really fun.
05:42 Way back in 2009 though Raw was desperate for ratings so started bringing in a bunch
05:45 of celebrities, one of which was Jeremy Piven.
05:49 And clearly he had never seen a promo by the Hitman, because he didn't call it SummerSlam,
05:54 he didn't call it THE SummerSlam, and in fact he called WWE's August event the SummerFest.
06:00 He also used this term while banning The Miz from the PPV, so The Miz was probably like
06:05 "great, I won't go to SummerFest, but I will go to SummerSlam".
06:09 And the real issue with this is that it just pissed wrestling fans off, because you were
06:12 like "why have you brought Jeremy Piven in if Jeremy Piven isn't a wrestling fan".
06:17 I'll be honest with you, that's fair.
06:19 1.
06:20 The Right Guy In The Right Place At The Right Time
06:22 I have no idea what happened to Hulk Hogan during his feud with Vince McMahon back in
06:26 the day.
06:27 Happened back in 2003, on one episode of Smackdown these two were going at it verbally on the
06:31 microphone and the Hulkster just wants to say "if you think I was the right guy in
06:36 the right place at the right time" but he can't do it.
06:39 I mean he screws it up once and then says "let me say it to you one more time, McMahon"
06:44 and he fails again.
06:46 And you just want to grab him and shake him and be like "Hulk, what is wrong with you?".
06:49 I mean honestly it just gets worse and worse on every attempt and I can't help but laugh
06:54 at it.
06:55 Clearly Hogan is under the weather or he's blown at his voice because he's struggling
06:58 to speak, but why didn't he just head off in a different direction?
07:02 Here's a piece of advice, if you do make a mistake in your real life, don't instantly
07:07 go back and try and correct it because you're just telling everyone that you made a mistake.
07:12 To be fair they would go on to WrestleMania and have quite the match, I didn't see it
07:16 coming but if you've never seen this, as I have said consistently, go change that today.
07:21 Even though Hogan is renowned for his promo skills too, there are loads of examples like
07:25 this.
07:26 Like back in 1996 when the NWO was formed, during his first interview with that, Hogan
07:31 the whole time goes "oh man, we're the New World Organisation or something".
07:35 He keeps saying the word organisation.
07:37 And when you watch it now you just shag at the TV screen "it's New World Order Hulk,
07:41 what is going on?".
07:42 You can also see Scott Hall and Kevin Nash just laughing because clearly they had already
07:45 decided on the name and Hulk goes out there and throws it into the toilet.
07:50 Not like it made any bit of a difference.
07:52 That is one of the most iconic things to ever happen in wrestling, and we all know what
07:56 happened next.
