The Indian Space Research Organisation or ISRO released a video on August 25 of the moment the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft's rover, Pragyan, ramped down from the Vikram Lander on the lunar south pole. ISRO took to social media platform X to release the video of the rover. It will conduct experiments to study the Moon's geology, mineralogy, and atmosphere. It is equipped with a variety of instruments, including a camera, a spectrometer, and a magnetometer. The Pragyan rover is expected to operate for one lunar day, which is about 14 Earth days. It will be powered by solar panels and will communicate with the Chandrayaan-3 orbiter.

00:00 The Indian Space Research Organisation or ISRO released a video on August 25 of the
00:07 moment the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft's rover Pragyan ramped down from the Vikram lander
00:13 on the lunar south pole.
00:15 ISRO took to social media platform X to release the video of the rover.
00:20 An excerpt of the caption reads, "And here is how the Chandrayaan-3 rover ramped down
00:25 from the lander to the lunar surface."
00:28 The rover made a soft landing on the moon on August 23 at 6.04 pm.
00:33 According to the ISRO, the rover is about the size of a microwave oven.
00:37 It is designed to travel up to 500 metres on the lunar surface.
00:42 It will conduct experiments to study the moon's geology, mineralogy and atmosphere.
00:47 ISRO said that the Pragyan rover is the first of its kind to be deployed on the moon's
00:51 south pole.
00:53 It is equipped with a variety of instruments including a camera, a spectrometer and a magnetometer.
00:59 The Pragyan rover is expected to operate for one lunar day which is equivalent to about
01:03 14 Earth days.
01:05 It will be powered by solar panels and will communicate with the Chandrayaan-3 orbiter.
01:11 Earlier ISRO had shared a photo of Chandrayaan-3's lander on the moon's surface which was clicked
01:16 by Chandrayaan-2's orbiter high-resolution camera.
01:19 With the mission's success, India became the first nation to land its spacecraft near
01:24 the lunar south pole.
01:26 It is also only the fourth country in the history of mankind to complete a soft landing
01:30 on the moon after the US, Russia and China.
01:34 A day after the soft landing, ISRO had confirmed on X that all Chandrayaan-3's systems were
01:39 normal and that all activities were happening on schedule.
01:43 On August 24, President Draupadi Murmu took to X to congratulate ISRO for Pragyan's
01:48 successful deployment.
01:50 The Rs 600 crore Chandrayaan-3 mission was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Center
01:55 in Andhra Pradesh's Sriharikota on July 14 onboard a launch vehicle Mark-3 or LVM-3
02:01 rocket.
02:02 The journey to the moon took 41 days and significantly was completed just days after a Russian spacecraft
02:09 attempting a similar outcome crashed after spinning out of control.
