00:02 - Hi, I'm Randy Vance.
00:12 I'm on Lake Conway in Orlando, the home of Regal Boats.
00:14 They've been building boats for over 50 years.
00:17 And this, the LX9, is their latest outboard runabout,
00:21 powered by dual 250 horsepower Yamahas.
00:24 Our test showed 58 miles per hour in a performance run.
00:30 Outstanding handling and beautiful turning.
00:33 We like the fact that it got up on plane
00:35 in less than five seconds,
00:37 and we hit 30 miles per hour in 10 seconds,
00:39 which is pretty darn good for a boat
00:42 that brings you a nine foot, one inch beam
00:44 and 28 feet, 11 inches in length.
00:47 (upbeat music)
00:59 Now I wanna walk you through this boat,
01:01 but the first thing I wanna talk about
01:03 is all the technology on board.
01:05 Regal has designed their own system for digital switching,
01:09 and it's unique.
01:10 Tap on the homepage,
01:12 and then tap on the Regal display page.
01:14 Now you've got three panels.
01:16 The first one is gonna show you controls for your hatch,
01:18 your windlass, and your hardtop.
01:21 You've also got RGB lighting controls here.
01:24 Tap on the second one,
01:25 and all the systems on your boat are displayed,
01:29 plus more detailed controls for your RGB lights.
01:32 The third panel monitors your circuit breakers,
01:35 lets you know if one pops and how to reset it.
01:38 Now the glass cockpit design here with two Garmin displays
01:42 also gives you access to your Fusion audio system,
01:45 which you can control right through the panel.
01:47 For the passenger,
01:48 there's another Garmin display over there
01:50 that gives them equal access to the digital switching,
01:53 and I like that because they can help control
01:56 some of the systems while you navigate the boat.
01:58 In addition, if you need a dimmer light here
02:01 for night driving,
02:02 they can navigate from their position watching the charts.
02:06 Now Regal's mantra for this year is more,
02:08 and there's definitely more technology,
02:10 including the engine systems.
02:12 The dual 250 horsepower Yamaha engines are standard,
02:16 as is Yamaha's Helm Master EX system
02:19 that includes the joystick.
02:21 You've also got a standard bow thruster here,
02:23 so it's going to be easy for anybody
02:26 to dock the boat like a pro.
02:28 And for the techno lovers,
02:29 you've got USB charge ports all around the boat,
02:33 plus a wireless charge port right here for the captain.
02:36 You got more power, you got more technology,
02:39 and you have more comfort.
02:40 It starts with this Helm seat.
02:42 It's a one plus seat, gives you room for a companion,
02:45 and it adjusts electrically.
02:47 The bolster flips up and down
02:49 so that you can see over the windshield when you're docking,
02:51 also easing that procedure.
02:53 You've got a wide seating area here
02:57 with deep cushion seats.
02:59 I like the grab rails that you have for safety.
03:02 You've got flip up, flip down bolsters.
03:04 On the starboard side, this seat lifts up,
03:07 giving you plenty of access to the storage there.
03:10 This one lifts outward,
03:11 gives you great access for smaller items.
03:14 The windlass is easy to access over the bow cushion,
03:18 and the windshield holds itself down
03:20 on a magnetic catch when you have it open.
03:23 There's a wind dam here to close off the cockpit
03:26 in inclement weather, and that's gonna be a nice feature
03:29 for longer season boating in northern climates.
03:32 Now the cockpit seating is spacious,
03:34 and you've got plenty of deck space for moving around.
03:37 This boat is designed to carry big crews comfortably.
03:41 I like the upholstery in the boat.
03:43 You'll notice the Titan stitching along the seat backs.
03:46 There's plenty of different textures, different shades,
03:49 and the ribbing accent makes a really cool look.
03:52 Here on the port side, you open the console door
03:55 and you have access to a large head compartment.
03:58 A pump-out head is standard,
03:59 but you can also get an electric head.
04:02 Another unique feature is the magnetically closing hatch
04:05 over the wastebasket underneath the passenger seat.
04:08 There's even more storage below decks.
04:11 Right here is a compartment that would be ideal
04:13 for keeping ice and cold drinks,
04:16 and the large locker forward is great
04:18 for carrying wakeboards and other gear.
04:20 I also like the arrangement of the lounges
04:22 along the gunwales.
04:24 On the starboard side, you can open that up
04:26 and it'll hold a 45-quart Yeti.
04:28 On the port side, you have plenty of dry storage there,
04:31 and lifting the seats up gives you easy access to it.
04:35 Now, as you can see, the hard top provides plenty of shade
04:38 to the cockpit area.
04:39 It also lowers electrically.
04:42 Once you tilt the top, throw these levers and it'll tilt,
04:45 throw the switch and it'll lower it down.
04:47 Now, we tested the boat earlier today in rain
04:50 and found that you could lower the hard top
04:52 in calmer water and run through the performance numbers.
04:56 When you're going out for everyday boating,
04:57 make sure it's secure and in its upward position.
05:01 Now, everybody likes to hang out at the sandbar,
05:04 and this aft seating arrangement makes that extra fun.
05:07 The seat backs fold forward to give you aft-facing seats.
05:11 Fold it forward further and you've got aft-facing lounges.
05:14 If you want even more space on the transom platform,
05:18 touch a button and these seats slide forward,
05:20 giving you another foot to foot and a half of space
05:23 and joining up with the cockpit seating.
05:25 Now, with the seats all the way forward,
05:27 you've got an enormous swim platform,
05:29 and why wouldn't you want to hang out there?
05:32 You've got easy access to it through the walkway there.
05:35 The boarding ladder is on the port side
05:37 and it's angled away from the motors,
05:39 which gives you extra safety reboarding.
05:42 Now, because the LX9 is built for big waters,
05:45 Regal has equipped this one optionally with a SeaKeeper One.
05:49 That gives you smoother operations in rougher water
05:52 and it extends your boating opportunities,
05:54 giving you more boating for your money.
05:56 Now, from coastal waters to the Great Lakes,
05:59 the Regal LX9 is the ideal big water boat.
06:02 I like the great standards on board,
06:04 which includes the Bow Thruster, the Windlass,
06:07 and Hellmaster EX with autopilot and joystick steering.
06:12 My favorite options on board are the passenger display,
06:16 the SeaKeeper One, which makes it ideal for big water,
06:19 and the subwoofers for hanging out all afternoon long.
06:23 I'm Randy Vance in Orlando, Florida,
06:25 on Regal's brand new LX9.
