00:00 >> Yeah, I think it was obviously very good for us.
00:03 I think just in terms of energy and juice that we had this game compared to the last
00:06 game, guys were ready to go.
00:08 And you can notice the difference.
00:10 But it starts off with our defense getting a three and out.
00:12 Us on third and short, first third down we get, we convert.
00:16 So I think those are two of the most important plays in the game, to be honest.
00:20 And Coach McDermott talks about that in just situational football, but
00:23 playing off of each other.
00:24 And that's one way we can do it.
00:26 We defer the ball for a reason.
00:27 Our defense goes out there, gets a three and out.
00:29 We get the ball, and then we get to go down there and try to score on our first
00:32 possession, we get the ball at halftime, try to double dip.
00:34 So proud of how the guys played today, played with a lot of juice.
00:38 On the sidelines, we're up for our teammates and
00:40 got to see some guys make some really cool plays today.
00:42 >> Why do you feel like the energy was maybe a little bit different today than
00:45 last week?
00:46 >> I think just, again, as we ramp up going into the season,
00:50 making sure that we're getting that feeling and understanding.
00:53 On game day, we gotta be ready to go.
00:55 And we weren't really sure how long we were gonna play today.
00:59 So we were expecting to play quite a bit.
01:01 And I think guys just having that mindset of going out there and like, all right,
01:03 we're here, let's get some work.
01:05 And I think that was important for us.
01:07 >> I know ultimately it's Sean's call, but were you guys on offense maybe lobbying
01:10 a little bit to play this week just because you wanted to get a taste of last
01:13 week out of your mouth?
01:16 >> Yes and no.
01:16 I mean, again, it's a double edged sword, I think, preseason, playing your guys.
01:21 But to go down there and, like I said, get hit with a few third downs and
01:25 convert and find guys to make some plays and end it with the touchdown in the goal
01:29 line, Damian put his head down and went and got it.
01:33 So you wanna play, I guess as a competitor, I wanna go out there and play.
01:38 But understanding what's at stake and going forward, what we gotta do.
01:42 But yeah, we were ready to play, I'll just put it that way.
01:46 >> Did you say there that you weren't sure how much you were gonna play?
01:49 So you didn't find out until after that series that you guys were-
01:51 >> Yeah, we were expecting to go a little bit more.
01:53 But coach liked what he saw and yeah, made a decision.
01:57 >> What do you make of the competition behind you?
01:59 Obviously, it was only Kyle today cuz Matt is hurt.
02:01 But that's been kinda ongoing all summer.
02:03 What have you seen from those two guys?
02:04 >> Yeah, guys that, again, they're professionals.
02:06 They understand their job and their role.
02:08 And they're trying to get better in the system.
02:11 And I got a lot of confidence in those guys.
02:13 And I could be a little biased cuz I care about those guys off the field too.
02:18 But I think they're doing a great job.
02:20 I thought Kyle did a really good job today in making decisions and
02:23 putting the team in good positions to score on offense.
02:25 So it's not always gonna be pretty, football is what it is.
02:30 You gotta play the game on the field and mistakes are gonna happen.
02:34 But I thought decision wise, we made some good decisions today.
02:36 And both those guys are doing a really great job for us.
