00:00 It's the latest protest in support of Niger's coup leaders and against its former colonial
00:06 power.
00:09 After almost filling a stadium earlier in the weekend, demonstrators have been rallying
00:13 outside France's military base in the capital Niamey this Sunday.
00:17 The demands are clear - they want to see the French troops out of the country.
00:24 We don't want the French anymore. We don't like them. They say Niger is a poor country,
00:28 but when we tell them to leave, they refuse.
00:33 People are suffering. ECOWAS can increase its sanctions, but we will resist to the death.
00:39 The Economic Community of African States, or ECOWAS, has been attempting to negotiate
00:43 with the leaders of the coup and says it would be prepared to deploy troops should these
00:48 talks fail.
00:52 It's been just over a month since the junta toppled President Mohamed Bazoum and took
00:56 control of Niger. France has 1,500 soldiers still based in the country where they'd been
01:01 helping the president fight off jihadist forces.
01:05 And on Friday, the junta gave France's ambassador 48 hours - until Sunday night - to leave the
01:12 country.
