The incident took place on Saturday around 5pm in the evening when a fight between them broke over the man's suspicion that his partner was cheating on him. The women died due to heavy bleeding.
The incident came into light after the victim’s sister got suspicious when she could not reach her on the phone. The sister contacted the neighbour. Then the neighbour alerted the police. According to the news report, Vaishnav was on the run after the incident, but the police tracked him down and arrested him.
According to the police statement, the accused Vaishnav and the victim, both were from Kerala, and they had been living together in a rented apartment in Bengaluru for years. They knew each other from college and worked at a sales and marketing firm in Bengaluru.
Police during the investigations have found that the couple's parents knew that they were living together. They were also aware of their altercations over Vaishnav's suspicions. They had also tried to resolve the matter.
The neighbours have reportedly told police that the couple quarreled frequently. According to a police statement the couple had been indulging in such fights for many days, and they had such a quarrel on the night before the incident.
Many such similar incidents have taken place in past months. In June of this year, a 56-year old allegedly killed his live-in partner and chopped her body into pieces in Mira Road area of Mumbai. This came into light after the neighbour complained of the foul smell and informed police about the same. Upon reaching the location, the police found body parts of the women.
Similarly, a few months back in Hyderabad, a man killed his live-in partner and chopped her body part. He had stored her body in the fridge. He had used a stone-cutting machine to chop the body. He had preserved the legs and hands of the victim and was using spray disinfectants and perfume to avoid foul smell.
In another incident in Lucknow, a man allegedly shot his 24-year-old live-in partner dead. The deceased was shot in the head and chest. The accused frequently got into fights with the victim after he learnt about her divorce and child from her previous marriage. The victim wanted to get married to him, which led to a brawl between them.
