Manchester has been named one of the worst airports in the UK by a new Which? survey.

Which? asked almost 4,000 people about their airport experiences in the last twelve months and invited them to rate the airports across eleven categories - including seating, staff, toilets and queues at check in, bag drop, passport control and security.

Manchester airport took the lowest two spots in the rankings, with a disappointing customer score of just 38 per cent for Terminal 3 and 44 per cent for Terminal 1 - with Terminal 2 earning slightly better at 50 per cent.

Liverpool John Lennon airport came out on top with a customer score of 82 per cent, earning it a Which? Recommended Provider status for the second year in a row.

We asked local people about their recent experiences at Manchester Airport.

00:00 Manchester has been named one of the worst airports in the UK by a new which
00:05 survey which asked almost 4,000 people about their airport experiences in the
00:10 last 12 months and invited them to rate the airports across 11 categories
00:15 including seating, staff, toilets and queues at check-in, bag drop, passport
00:20 control and security. Manchester Airport took the lowest two spots in the
00:25 rankings with a disappointing customer score of just 38% for terminal
00:29 three and 44% for terminal one with terminal two earning slightly better at
00:35 50%. Liverpool John Lennon Airport came out on top with a customer score of 82%
00:40 earning it a which recommended provider status for the second year in a row. We
00:45 asked local people about their recent experiences at Manchester Airport. A
00:50 couple of years ago pre-Covid the airport seemed to be okay but now since Covid
00:55 that's what put us off going this year and that's why we're cruised instead so I
01:00 can pretty much agree with that statement. There wasn't enough staff,
01:05 security or the hassle of everything with your baggage, if you're on
01:11 medication, just the hassle that's involved in it so not appreciative when
01:17 you want in your holiday to just run smoothly. I'm not keen on Manchester
01:22 Airport, if I was doing any I'd do Leeds Bradford. Manchester Airport has got the
01:26 worst name in the whole of the UK I think. People travelling there and people, my
01:32 daughter just recently travelled there, so the queues were chaos, there's no
01:37 structure really to it, to get in and out of the airport is so difficult as well
01:42 and you know we've been to other airports and they seem to be more
01:48 organised. I think it's mainly the parking, what you have to pay just to be
01:53 dropped off. When you're going into the airport there doesn't seem the right
01:58 structure or there's a queues or nobody seems to know what they're doing and
02:01 obviously delays now as well, there seems to be quite a lot of delays, I know
02:06 that's down to what's happening globally but Manchester Airport seems to be the
02:11 worst for that at the moment. Manchester Airport was among the worst performing
02:15 in the survey for security queues with an average wait time of 25 minutes or
02:20 over in all three terminals but not everyone thinks the airport is as bad as
02:25 the survey suggests. I think it was good when we went, there was smaller queues
02:29 like we've flown from East Midlands recently and Leeds Bradford and I think
02:34 it was better than them, queues were smaller, the security was faster, I think
02:38 it's got a better range of like places to eat when you get through to like the
02:42 gate so I wouldn't agree with that. We went to Manchester and it was okay but
02:48 then I did go from Liverpool a few weeks ago, it was a lot quieter in Liverpool
02:52 and there was like no queue for security but then even like little things in
02:56 Manchester, the little plastic bags are free whereas in Liverpool you have to
02:59 pay for stuff like that which I thought that was quite a big difference, like
03:02 little things like that.
