Elton John Hospitalized After Fall At Home In France

00:00 Elton John is on the mend. The Rocket Man singer was hospitalized over the weekend after a fall
00:05 at his home in Nice, France. According to multiple media outlets, Elton was transported to the
00:10 Princess Grace Hospital Center in Monaco for evaluation and was home by Monday morning.
00:16 His rep told Access Hollywood, "We can confirm that following a slip yesterday at his home in
00:22 the south of France, Elton visited the local hospital as a precautionary measure. Following
00:28 checkups, he was immediately discharged this morning and is now back home and in good health."
00:33 The 76-year-old has been spending time on the French Riviera with his family
00:38 after wrapping up his final shows on the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in July.
00:43 In an interview with Anderson Cooper in 2018, Elton revealed that he may not be stepping away
00:48 from music fully, but he has decided to retire from touring to spend more time with his husband,
00:54 David Furnish, and their two kids. Earlier this month, he was spotted relaxing on a yacht in
00:59 Saint-Tropez with some famous friends as he enjoys his downtime. In April 2023, Will & Grace star

01:16 "I also didn't realize that you've been buddies with Elton John and going to his
01:19 Oscars party for the last 20 years. How did that come about?"
01:21 "I mean, that's one of the great stories of my youth is that David Furnish,
01:26 who is Elton John's husband, and I went to high school together. We did Godspell and Pippin and
01:31 the Fantastics, so I've known him since we were 14."
01:33 "What high school was that?"
01:34 "That was Sir John A. Macdonald in Toronto."
01:37 "Oh, look at that!"
01:37 "Yes, and we had a great theater teacher, and so we stayed close-ish, and then we kind of
01:44 parted for a while. We didn't see him because he was in London, and I said, 'How's David doing in
01:48 London?' to a friend of ours, and they said, 'He's dating Elton John.'"

01:52 "So, yeah, so he started with Elton around the same time I started dating my wife,
01:56 so we've sort of had this sort of long..."
01:58 "Oh, that's funny. I just realized you're Canadian."

02:02 "We hear Elton gives cheeky gifts. Like, what kind of gifts does Elton give? I feel like he
02:06 gives really fun gifts."
02:08 "Well, I mean, the most amazing thing was the day my son was born 20 years ago.
02:15 Elton and David sent a big red wagon, you know, like a classic sort of red wagon with a bunch of
02:20 stuff in the back. It was a big stuffed animal and stuff."
02:22 "And for his party, you hosted it for, like, how many years?"
02:25 "We've always been there. We've always been invited because it's about the AIDS Foundation,
02:29 and so we're happy to be ambassadors for the Elton John AIDS Foundation whenever we can.
02:34 I've been a host two or three times over the years. This one was really fun. Janet and I were
02:41 with Heidi Klum and her husband, and Heidi, as she does, was wearing... she was wearing that."

02:49 "So, and she and I were going to get... I get up several times in the course of the evening
02:52 during the Oscar ceremony and sort of during the commercials, I, you know,
02:56 implore people to give more money to the AIDS Foundation, and I was getting up with Heidi to
03:00 speak, and just before we got to the teleprompters, I said, 'Are you game for anything?'
03:05 And she said, 'Yes, yes, whatever you want.' So I got up to the mic and I went, 'Ah, big bird.'
03:11 "Ah, that's great."
03:12 "I think it's wonderful that you support the AIDS Foundation."
03:17 "It's good."
03:18 "And she went into some crazy great big bird voice, and she's like, 'Nice!' It was awesome."
