00:00 Would you like to introduce our very special guest please?
00:03 Absolutely. We are honored, proud and very excited to have His Royal Highness,
00:09 the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa right here with us.
00:14 Good morning, everybody.
00:17 Good morning.
00:18 Thank you for welcoming me.
00:19 You're most welcome. You're welcome to come anytime. It's anytime we can get an all right
00:25 of bed in the morning.
00:26 I gotta say the only the only the only guest I would wake up for.
00:31 That is very kind and it is appreciated.
00:33 And I would like to say that I'd like to congratulate you and your
00:36 wonderful listeners on this fantastic new studio. I hope you're enjoying it.
00:41 We we are. And, you know, we know that you're a big fan of the radio station.
00:47 I'm not probably not when Nora and I are on. But
00:48 but, you know, we know that you're hugely supportive of the radio station.
00:53 Absolutely. And I just want to say from all of us, we're incredibly grateful for that.
00:57 You're very welcome.
00:58 We have I think it's fair to say world class facilities here
01:01 in our brand new digital studio. Scott eats potato chips and crumbs everywhere.
01:07 Yeah, but not today.
01:08 Not today. Now, I must say, I'm very impressed. It's thick and span.
01:12 I think it looks great.
01:13 We had we had to vacuum up just before you came, Your Highness.
01:17 I really am.
01:18 Can we press a law today to, you know, maybe just a big fine for Scott every time he
01:23 no, no, no. OK, all right. We tried. We can't do everything.
01:27 So it's it's nice to have you here. This is the first I think radio Bahrain.
01:32 And you will probably know the answer to this.
01:35 Your Highness is the oldest English language radio station in the Gulf.
01:38 I believe so. Yes.
01:40 One of many first Bahrain first place to find oil.
01:43 Yeah, first place to educate boys and girls.
01:48 Yeah, absolutely. Women's rights.
01:50 The first in the Gulf, women working in place.
01:52 The first woman judge, first woman ambassador, first woman head of the UN National Assembly.
01:58 So, all right, you keep going.
01:59 You can keep going. Nor are you are you following this?
02:01 You're the you're the first female host of the big drive.
02:04 Oh, I know. I can't be more proud.
02:06 So this is a couple of questions that we want to ask you.
02:10 We make a big thing on the show of Nor being from Generation Z or Zillani or whatever it is.
02:17 They call them these days.
02:18 Yeah. Bahrain being a young place, I believe half the population is under the age of 33.
02:24 Yes, this is where Scott and I feel pretty old now.
02:27 Things that Nor doesn't know.
02:28 We discovered Knight Rider.
02:29 She'd never heard of Knight Rider.
02:30 Never heard of it.
02:31 Mind blown by a talking car.
02:33 Sorry to disappoint.
02:34 So you have a question for his Highness.
02:38 I do. Yes, your Highness.
02:39 Could you please tell us if you have a message to the younger generation?
02:43 Oh, a message to the younger generation.
02:46 Yes, I think from my experience, the world continues to change.
02:52 Change is the only constant.
02:54 Remain adaptable.
02:55 Remain curious and don't settle for second best.
03:00 Keep pushing.
03:01 Keep pushing yourself.
03:02 Keep pushing others around you to achieve the goals that shouldn't just remain dreams in your head.
03:12 The worst thing is having a different reality when you're dreaming at home on what you could achieve
03:18 and then the cold hard reality of day hitting you in the face.
03:21 Actually, both can, you know, the day should look more like the night.
03:26 Yeah.
03:26 That's what I'd like to say.
03:28 Keep going.
03:29 Keep believing.
03:30 Keep pushing.
03:30 There will always be opportunities being opened up.
03:34 We are working extremely hard to provide all the tools to you, to the people of Bahrain,
03:41 to achieve all the goals that they set out to do,
03:43 whether it be in the professional space, commercial space, educational space.
03:48 And I can say from experience, because unlike Nora, I'm a little bit older.
03:55 I don't believe it.
03:57 No, how you feel.
03:58 I've seen it all change and I'm very proud and I'm very happy that people today have far more
04:05 opportunity than they did in the past.
04:07 But speaking about this wonderful radio station, growing up listening to Radio Bahrain,
04:13 it felt like a comfort, like a comforting friend all the time.
04:18 And I remember the DJs, the older DJs, Bob McCready.
04:22 I remember Tim Mann.
04:24 I remember Gev Hopkins.
04:25 All of all of the crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy.
04:29 We got him.
04:29 We got him on the on the morning show.
04:31 You should get these guys to come in and do some, you know, those who are still among us,
04:35 of course, get them to do like a little guest spot.
04:38 Absolutely.
04:39 For us guys that are over 33.
04:42 That's you and me, Scott.
04:45 OK, so talking about you saying, you know, don't take no for an answer.
04:50 Keep on pushing.
04:51 Absolutely.
04:52 Where do you see Bahrain in 10 or 15 years?
04:56 I mean, we were the first here to do so many things, but, you know, the countries might have
05:02 more oil, more gas.
05:03 But there's something about and that's the spirit, right?
05:07 I think what we were able to do with our local population was outstanding.
05:13 And we we still to this day have a very organic feel.
05:17 There is not a sense of frenzy or franticness about living in this country.
05:22 And I think we need to protect that.
05:26 But we need to grow.
05:27 You know, we don't want to be left behind.
05:28 So where do we see Bahrain?
05:32 I can't answer exactly because that needs a crystal ball.
05:34 And I left that in the gypsy caravan.
05:37 But I would say that the sectors we are focusing on, whether it happens to be in finance or in
05:46 services or logistics or IT or tourism or industry, are all sectors where we can see growth
05:54 and, you know, a better a better set of opportunities for the people of Bahrain and
06:01 residents of Bahrain.
06:02 But I also want to see this country, you know, grow in size of population.
06:10 I'd like to see diversity grow.
06:12 And I'd like us to be connected more to the world.
06:16 You know, we shouldn't just be focused on being connected to the region.
06:20 We should have global ambitions.
06:22 So that's that's in a nutshell.
06:24 Where are we going?
06:26 Where you see where we're going to be going from here?
06:28 Of course, we've got Al-Dana Ramfah Theatre now.
06:30 You've got some enormous acts.
06:33 And I heard a little whisper, one particular act that came here in the last year that you're
06:38 a big fan of.
06:39 I might just play in a moment.
06:41 OK, well, I'm not going to ask.
06:42 It's not the Backstreet Boys.
06:43 But the worst thing, the worst thing for any person who may have, you know, responsibility
06:50 in the political spheres to start telling people which bands they like.
06:52 It's terrible.
06:55 It's just it's a caricature.
06:57 We don't like it.
06:58 I don't like it.
06:59 I don't know.
06:59 We keep I keep that very bright.
07:01 OK, all right.
07:01 OK, well, we will keep that on the D out there.
07:04 And then we go.
07:05 We will.
07:06 There we go.
07:06 It's been an honor to have you with us today.
07:09 And please, you know, we remain always at your service.
07:12 Thank you.
07:13 And the service of the kingdom, like, you know, all of you listeners out there, I wish
07:16 you a wonderful day.
07:18 This is a fantastic radio station.
07:20 Thank you for tuning in.
07:22 Hope you keep tuning in.
07:23 And it's only going to get better from here.
07:25 So thank you, guys.
07:26 OK, and you heard it from your own eyes.
07:28 We can't.
07:29 Right.
07:29 We can't.
07:30 We can't.
07:30 We can't.
07:31 We'll leave it at this.
07:32 OK, right.
07:33 So let's relive some memories from the last year at our down amphitheater with Greta Van Fleet.
07:40 Thank you so much, Your Highness.
07:42 Thank you.
07:43 Thank you.
