00:00 can't stand anime. Really? I would have thought that was kind of up your street actually you like
00:04 a bit of anime in general. Yeah I've given the big ones a try like the Studio Ghibli movies and I mean
00:09 Spirit Away is fairly good but recently I saw Your Name which was a really good anime film and I
00:16 thought well I'll give Attack on Titan a try because it's supposed to be like one of the best
00:20 series of that. Huge disappointment I thought it was okay still but it looked like it had so much
00:28 potential. I don't know if you guys have seen it. No I remember when it came out being very excited
00:33 it had like a really tight premise and an excellent trailer and then I didn't even make it
00:38 through the first 20 minutes I don't think. Oh no. It was a mess, a mess of a movie. And it's long as well
00:44 it's like two and a half hours and I think it could have been a really good 90 minute
00:49 sort of thriller. It's clearly inspired by like Quentin Tarantino like the Reservoir Dogs.
00:57 I think Hateful Eight might have come out after but it's very similar to Hateful Eight except
01:01 the payoff is the execution is just not there. They get rid of the most interesting character
01:10 very early doors. Yeah sort of every act along the way it sort of went in the wrong
01:18 direction and got worse as a result if that makes sense. Stylistically it looks very good.
01:24 The acting's pretty spot on but the writing I think really really let it down unfortunately.
01:30 I do like a bit of Jeff Bridges. Where did you watch that? Well I watched it on Disney plus
01:35 but I wouldn't necessarily recommend anyone else. Fair enough. Fair enough. Fair enough. All right so
01:41 Paul over to you. What have you been watching besides a lot of Taggart obviously? Last night
01:47 I was watching the latest episode of Only Murders in the Building. Oh you're way ahead of me. I'm
01:53 going on the first series too. It's quite fun. The streaming service still kept this season
01:59 and all rugs as well. So yeah they're rolling out all the stars. I think it's a nice one
02:08 and it's on Disney plus if anyone wants to check that out. Also there I've been trying
02:13 Ahsoka which is the new Star Wars television series. Oh we mentioned it last week. Yeah yeah go ahead.
02:19 So the third episode dropped. Again they're doing it in a linear fashion with a point with
02:25 television. The third episode dropped today. I haven't watched that yet but from the first two episodes
02:30 it seems promising in terms of the acting and the attempt to kind of create a...
02:36 it's almost like a detective series as well. They tend to
02:42 kind of drop into different genres within the Star Wars universe and this feels a bit kind of
02:48 like piecing together a puzzle as they search for a long lost admiral from the empire.
02:56 The only concern for me is I didn't grow up with the animated series that was the
03:04 precursor for this live action version and a lot of the scenes and the setups and
03:10 the visuals seem like it's ultimately fan service.
03:16 Fan service rather than progressing the story so I'm sure that if people had grown up watching
03:22 Rebels and other series that they will be you know... More affinity with us.
03:30 Yeah just like super impressed by the visuals but for me just coming new to this aspect of the
03:36 Star Wars universe I'm yet to be yet to be fully immersed I suppose but you know
03:44 it's got promise.
