02:31 My name is E-Star.
02:32 I'm born in Israel and I grew up, I was raised in Israel.
02:38 I live now in Paris, in France, since seven years.
02:43 And I'm one of the lead vocals of Alabina's group.
02:49 I present Egypt, the Egypt voice, Egypt music,
02:55 and because my mother is Egyptian and my father is Moroccan
03:00 and I have my friends, my family,
03:02 four gypsies coming, staying with me.
03:05 They're coming, they live in France, south of France,
03:08 and they present the flamenco, the rumba, the Spanish part.
03:13 (singing in foreign language)
03:17 (upbeat music)
03:23 (singing in foreign language)
03:27 When I was a child, I was, had something like 10,
03:39 12 years old, I like pretty old Barbra Streisand songs,
03:44 Stevie Wonder, Commodores, Chaka Khan.
03:48 I used to listen to this music 'til very late at night.
03:53 I used to sleep at the carpet, you know,
03:54 my father used to wake me up, hey, hey, you have to go
03:57 because tomorrow you have school.
03:59 And I think thanks to them, I really have this only
04:03 inspiring and loving to music and that's what gives me
04:06 really the dream to be one day on stage, yeah.
04:11 I think that believing in yourself, it's the first step,
04:14 the first important, important thing.
04:16 Even though sometimes it's very, very hard,
04:20 this, you know, the business show and the showbiz,
04:23 sometimes it's very tough.
04:27 Don't ever give up, never, never, never, never give up.
04:30 I remember when I arrived to Paris, I started,
04:35 I remember every morning from nine o'clock in the morning
04:39 'til nine o'clock in the evening, I was asking
04:44 every piano bar, every club, hi, I'm a singer,
04:48 everybody, sometimes some of them said,
04:50 no, no, we don't need some audition, we're not pretty good.
04:54 And I didn't give up, I didn't give up,
04:56 just continue and continue.
04:58 So believing in yourself, it's the most important thing
05:00 first and love what you do.
05:04 Don't do what because people tell you, do that,
05:06 that's gonna work, no, if you don't love it,
05:08 if you don't like it, if it's not going off from heart,
05:11 don't touch it.
05:12 And hard work, a very, very, very hard work.
05:19 (upbeat music)
05:22 (singing in foreign language)

07:36 (upbeat music)

08:06 - The best part of music, Alabina's music,
08:08 you're traveling all over, you're across the desert
08:11 and you arrive to a rumba.
08:14 Somebody said once, Alabina, it's the rumba of the desert.
08:18 It's a lot of joy, a lot of rhythm, a lot of percussion.
08:22 For me, this instrument, the percussions,
08:24 it's a direct connection with earth.
08:28 You don't have to understand the lyrics, the words,
08:35 because I sing in Arabic, the Gypsy sings in Spanish.
08:39 We have two songs, three songs in English.
08:42 But people got the message.
08:43 I mean, sometimes they don't need to understand.
